If I could grade this Applebee's a negative I would. For starters our booth seats were falling apart and were dirty. Our waitress acted like we were interrupting something she was doing. My husband nor I completed our meals. He got chicken and pasta, he took two bites and said the chicken tasted like it had freezer burn and the bread that came with it was stale. I got a sirloin that tasted more like liver and even had the same texture. We left the plates on the table, we didn't even bother to bring the dishes home to our dog. When we went to check out I had two gift cards. The waitress didn't know how to use them both to cover our meal. She said it didn't work like that. It works like that at other places. Incredibly poor service from the moment we walked in! At least 2 employees walked past us without greeting us at the host stand. And, the place was not busy!! Once we did get seated, it took forever for the waitress to approach us. Since Applebee's has a full bar, my brother and I ordered Manhattans. Waitress came back and told us that the bartender said that they don't have Manhattans...huh? So we ordered Crown on the rocks. Waitress was very slow with bringing waters and once the food we had ordered showed up, there were no setups, so we asked a manager for setups which took forever. So, I got up and found another waitress who brought setups to us. Then, the manager finally showed up with setups LOL! Our food was not brought out together (5 of us in our party) and the food was mediocre, at best. Our waitress was confused and clueless throughout this whole ordeal. Figured out why the Applebee's parking lot was not full like all of the other restaurants..... Never again! read more

Went for the first time yesterday. The parking lot is typically filled with cars so I assumed the food must be really good! WRONG ! Not only did it take over 30 min to receive our food (the restaurant was nearly empty at the time we went), but the food was not hot, it didn't taste good, and the food presentation was horrible. I ordered sampler and onion rings. The wings were supposed to be buffalo but I received Asian instead. Told then what I ordered. The onion rings were missing until I said so. There was no ranch as requested. When I did get the buffalo wings and they did look a little dry I requested additional sauce only to hear server and cook talking about the extra sauce like I didn't need and it was enough (at least a 2 minute conversation about sauce). I waited almost another 3 minutes for them to finish and finally bring sauce and utensils. I see why this particular applebees has so many complaints. Its my money and I want something extra after spending almost 20 dollars it shouldn't be an issue . I would suggest you speak with your employees as they have no etiquette or manners. read more

Easily the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. I was not bothered by the long wait and limited flow up from our waitress. She did the best she could with apparent under staffing and poor management. It is however annoying to watch arguments between employes and hear the chef yelling at employees in the back while trying to enjoy the dining experience. Aside from everything already mentioned, the biggest issue I had was the horrible food. Not one of the four meals my family ordered looked like the menu and they all tasted horrible. I should have rejected the food as soon as it was put on the table but unfortunately I opted to attempt to eat the meal. I am now regretting that decision while reaching for some Tums to settle the rot gut and nausea I am experiencing after eating here. Needless to say, I will never go back. read more

Went with a party of 16 and while the team was working to setup seating for us. The "General Manager" Timika W. Came out and in a very rude tone told us that, we would be seated but we'd have to wait to be served because there were 31 heads to feed before us. Very unprofessional and not the image that a restaurant "General manager" should display. Timika needs to be sent back to be school for business management, customer service and professionalism. There were numerous employees standing around and they would have probably loved to be busy instead of standing around on company time. Went tonight for dinner, wait time was over half hour. Ok it is Saturday, but there was only 3 wait staff working. Finally was seated and waited while 2 waiters ran around neither acknowledging us. Used to be my go to I don't even want to go there at all anymore. Recently I rode up there ordered curbside and it took over an hour to receive our cold food. The waitress didn't want to bring the food out to car. I was one space away from a space that was designated for pick up. All the other spaces were filled up, one space being filled by what was evidently her car as I noticed her getting in and out of the vehicle several times in my over hour wait. I called twice during my wait. Oh and during this long wait I never saw any delivery to car only angry looking people carrying their own food to their cars. read more

After coming here one time and not being served at all after 20 minutes of waiting, decided to come back and try it again. First, we waited 15 minutes to be asked about drinks. Then we finally got to order and waited an hour before getting anything. We arrived at 8:33 and left at 10:18. Our waitress, Jessica M., was very slow even though she only had 3 tables including us and each table had 2 people each. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was too outrageous. She said she was bringing me a refill and I never got it. Our food was ice cold coming out to us and I had to eat dry chicken with no drink. We decided to go to Applebee's this evening. We hadn't been to Applebee's since they relocated. Our server was kind and professional. We decided to try the Shrimp appetizer. Very spicy in good way, garnished with lime slices and small tasty chips. I ordered the Sirloin steak dinner with shrimp and it was very good with the mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My better half ordered the Quesedilla Burger 'excuse my spelling'. She said that the burger was cooked just as she ordered it! It was such a large burger. She had to bring half of it home! We started off our night by being greeted with "are you ready to order". No introducing or asking for drinks. Just straight to food. We ordered after telling her our drinks and that we needed more time. Our food comes out. You could tell some of it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a long time, for the ranch had a film on top and the cheese on top of my soup was rock solid. My friends steak was cooked well done and he asked for it medium rare. I asked for a soup for my spoon, and he asked for A1 to salvage his steak. We got our checks, and mine was $5 higher than it should have been. I asked for the manager, who took over 10 minutes to make it to the table. She then asked me how I wanted to be compensated. If I wanted a discount or a free desert and how she could make it better. I've been a manager at a restaurant, and this is your job to know how to please the customer. Not ask them how to make it better. Definitely will avoid this place at all costs. read more

Worst dining experience in Sumter. If you want to treat your family to "cold food", incomplete orders being brought to the table and servers who "disappear" then head on down and waste your money. This was the absolute worst dining experience I've had at a chain restaurant. The restaurant was half empty and our server had only two tables so there is no excuse at all. We had a wonderful time! Our server was Chris, who was fantastic, had a positive attitude, listened well, and was very easy to understand. He was also very patient with us as we all ordered at different times. There were not many people there when we arrived, so our food arrived quickly. We got a few different kinds of Tacos and they were all fantastic. We took our 6 month old who really doesn't care for loud rooms and he was just fine during our whole dinner! It wasn't loud in there at all (on a Thursday during dinner). We had a table of 8 and were easily able to talk to everyone at a reasonable volume. This used to be one of our favorite spots but today was probably our last visit. Only 2 servers working on a Saturday!! It took 15 minutes to get our drinks and then we waited 45 minutes for our order!! People who arrived after us were served first. We had to ask 3 times for a refill on my husbands coffee. Our poor server was over worked and kept apologizing to everyone for the delay explaining only 2 were working. The food was just not the standard it used to be and no manager stopped by. We had the grilled chicken topped with the mozzarella sticks with mashed potatoes and salad. Chicken was good. Sauce was cold as were the mashed potatoes.we were both disappointed. Going at 11 a.m. when the restaurant opened may have helped the process of good service. After being greeted upon entry, we were promptly seated. Our server came over shortly after to take our drink order. Upon returning with our drinks, he asked to take our food order. One member of our party hadn't decided, so the waiter quietly waited by our table making a few recommendations. Afterwards, he returned once or twice to refill our drinks before bringing our food; all within 15 minutes of being seated. The overall experience was pleasant, to which I had no complaints. We went to Applebee's for my daughters birthday. It was not terribly busy, plenty of open tables. We waited at the door for at least 5 minutes for someone to address us. When we sit down we made our drink orders and 15 minutes later we received our drinks (2 waters, 2 kids sodas and some milk). Immediately after putting our drinks on the table the waitress walked off. She didn't come back around for another 10 minutes to take our orders, by this time my 2 year old had about had it. Another 25 minutes to get food. We asked for drink refills and it took over 10 minutes to get them. The service was so bad it was ridiculous. On a side note one of the employees (looked like the manager) was very unprofessional. At one point I saw him lick in a woman's ear. Overall a terrible experience and we will never return! read more

Wedding party at Applebee's knew in advance about large party. Linked up with my friends/family I'm disappointed, frustrated and hungry. We receive water 20 minutes after we ordered some of us did not receive water at all. Food came 40 to 50 minutes late, with no utensils on the table at all. Staff standing around not clearing tables not asking can they help us not even getting water. Server came out about an hour later with utensils in a drying rack. Loud Obnoxious customers drinking, using profane language, screaming at the bar while younger children in restaurant. Call for manager, Richard, who was probably doing every job possible to handle the bar situation and help us with food. Servers still didn't bring food, ended being charged for food I didn't receive nor eaten. You can't eat a salad without having utensils. ‍ In the end I paid for a salad I didn't eat and wings for my husband. I paid for the salad because I didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes. This was unacceptable. Servers standing around literally doing nothing!!! I don't rate restaurants, and don't use this site, but tonight was ridiculous!!! I literally had to find my receipt to pay my bill.‍ One goes to a restaurant to eat and be filled, not sit, and leave hungry!!!! Several of us left HUNGRY! Hire individuals who really want to work and know the menu. Cut drinkers from the bar off and not think it's funny to continue pour drinks for loud individuals who are cussing and making a scene. Horrible. Went with my boyfriend and parents for dinner. They sat us down and we waited. And waited and waited. Two servers walked right past us for about 10-15 minutes never acknowledging us. Just ignoring us. After about 15 minutes a waitress from across the resturant noticed us waiting and came over to help us. My steak was wrong twice, and since we'd already been there almost 2 hours I didn't bother sending it back a third time. We had to ask for the manager and he seemed to have an attitude and not care about our experience. Will not be returning. If you want to be ignored and be served crappy food go to this Applebees. Our server, Reggie, was great! Very personable and food came quickly. We had the bacon and honey Mac-n-cheese. Not much honey as compared to other locations but still good. We also had the artichoke dip and tortilla chips as the appetizer and I just LOVE the lightness of the chips and the mozzarella cheese served on top of this dip was wonderful. Would give 5 stars but I think this should be a 2 for $20 meal, not a 2 for $25 meal based on what it is. read more

Came to Applebee's for dollar margaritas(all month)... the service was so slow. Took over an hour to get an appetizer. We got one margarita each (only 2 of us) and no one came to check on us for the hour between ordering and getting the appetizer. When it came(at the same time as the meal), we ordered more margaritas which we could see sitting on the counter until our bill came at the end of the meal. Or actual waiter (who we hadn't seen since initially ordering) came back to our table after we had stacked all of our plates, and was so surprised to see that we had already gotten everything. I have never been a waitress so my feet have never been in his shoes but I don't even understand how this can happen. It wasn't overly busy(looked steady, but no wait). This place could be on bar rescue or something. Next time, I'll go next door to chili's next time to get faster more attentive service. read more

Called me "Bud" the 4 times I saw him. He never served me my food, barely took my order, and never came back to my table. The food was extremely sub par and horrible. First off the food was average at best and it took way to long for our food to come out. It's a Sunday during football season, and was not busy as the bartender made it seem. Us and other customers requested the game multiple times and she said "she was working on it" waited almost 45 mins and she never did anything. We closed out our bills and had to wait another 20 mins or so for her. It got to the point where we both just put cash on the table and ripped her way to much just in order to get out of there or else we would have waited another 45mins for our cards to be given back.
