Never thought I'd give a chain four stars, but I had a great experience here yesterday. Looking at the ratings, I think you'd have to assume they are inconsistent at best. I haven't been here for years, but I thought I'd give it a check up. The chains are struggling. Darden finally gave up on Red Lobster, said they couldn't fix it and spun it off. Now they are trying to fix Olive Garden. Friday's is lost. Chili's is mediocre at best. Longhorn is nice but way overpriced. Outback still does a decent job. Cracker Barrel continues to shine (for what it is.) Which brings us to Applebee's. Here's my experience: Walked in, was greeted by the hostess, gave her my usual bar point and sat at the bar. Ashley, the bartender, promptly greeted me and got me a wine. I ordered the Southwest chicken chop salad, and it came in about 5 minutes. And get this...everything was fresh and delicious, including the chicken! I always assumed everything here was frozen for eons before it ever made it to a plate. Not here, not this day. Great service, great food, not too expensive. Now this was midday, and it was not crowded. But it was very good. They've added on this "Hive" thing on the side. It's like a bar attached to a bar. I think in the summer it's like their patio bar or something. I'll probably try that next. read more

We had 4 teenaged girls, 2 adults, and one 3 year old and the only things anyone ate were the mozzarella sticks and brownies. One order was sent out wrong, the chicken strips were gross, the fries were limp and lukewarm, pop was flat. Our server was very nice and polite but for a $166 meal the food was awful. We could have eaten at McDonalds 3 times and had the same quality. read more

Slowest service ever. Ever. There were maybe 4 other tables in the restaurant. Our apps were room temp. Never got a water refill. My husbands food was the most bland thing ever. Manager came to replace meal- and didn't even know what side dishes they offered. Never took dirty dishes. Held us hostage at her table because she was being social while we waited for our check. Bad first impression. We walked in, at least 1/3 of the tables were empty and clean, yet we were told there was a 5 minute wait. We sat there for 3-4 minutes watching 4 staff members, including a manager at one point, standing around the host stand talking. Luckily our server has her stuff together. The service was good. Our food was fine. One other odd thing, though. I ordered a run and diet tall and a highball glass was set in front of me. Apparently here, tall means double in a short glass :/ read more

Our waiter was so sweet and doting on us. Poor dude had a table of 30 kids plus our party of 7 so we could see that he was stressed out but he always made sure to check up on us. He refilled our drinks and got our appetizers out pretty quickly. There was a bit of a wait for our food but we didn't mind because we have real problems and waiting for food isn't one of them. For sure whould be a 1 star if ir werent for the bar tender alexis..... both your hostes on duty right now 1:48pm aug 18 are rude and clearly hate their jobs. Their attitudes and nasty behavior is completely off putting... if it werent for Alexis we would have left for sure. Your customors first impression are the people you put at your door .. it should be someone who likes people. We ask if we sat at a high bar top table would it speed up our wait. To which her replay was thats not bar seating the bar is over there where she is standing..you see her. Every resturant is different and by no means was that a far fetched question to.aks about tables in the bar. She was talking me like i was an idiot ...and she felt like i didnt understand what a bar was..... Then the bar tender said she has a table she is serving we could sit at and the other hostess wen off on her saying we're on a wait ...like full attitude throwing up her hands and waiving her head around....all of which i could hear and see... you might wanna rethink these choices for hostess.... or at least talk to them.. not a good look.... read more

Stopped for dinner and drink alone on business all week. Was a 70 degree day they have side bar with separate entrance and outside patio. It wasn't busy but sorta small (about 4 tables inside with bar, 9 tables outside) so with a huge crowd/event there may be a wait but the bartender/waitress was very attentive and friendly. Basic hamburger, slaw & cocktail all good. Clean. Definitely go back. read more

a minute ago I went to this restaurant hoping to get a meal before I traveled back home from Cedar Point, a 2 hour drive. I had a party of 9 people, and was told that there would be an estimated 50 minute wait. The hostess would not allow us to wait inside. We had to wait outside in the parking lot. It was hot out there. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes.The waitlist said we were 2nd in the line. A few minutes later we checked the waitlist and we were 3rd in line. Apparently, one of the party's before us was waiting for one person to come, so they weren't going to order. I went back outside of the restaurant, and noticed a few larger party's leaving the restaurant. I went inside, and asked the host of we would get to eat soon. She said that there was two parties ahead of us. I asked if the other two parties were being contacted due to the open table. She said that they had to clean the table first. I don't see why they couldn't have contacted the parties ahead of us while they cleaned. They clearly were not in the parking lot like us, and would need time to drive to the restaurant. On top of that, a woman from inside the restaurant claimed that we were the ones being rude. I know for a fact that I had the right to be frustrated with the slow service. We were irritated and did not want to talk to the racist women. We told her repeatedly to mind her own business, but she kept on ranting. Then, she told us to "go back to your country." Just an FYI we are all American citizens. At that point, I was so fed up with the bad service, and the racist woman. We decided to leave the restaurant. Not one of the Applebee's employees did anything when the women went to verbally attack us. They didn't try to make our wait more comfortable. Worst service. Came to eat here with friends, waited 10 minutes for a waitress. Once she comes we ordered waters & food. By the time our waters came the food was out. Half the tables food got delivered & by the time we ate it all the other half came. Our friends burger was so pink inside when he asked for it to be well done. I just think there is zero customer service here & I wouldn't waste your time. read more

It is what it is. National chain with predictable food. We had a group of fifteen for lunch, and they did a great job of taking care of us, feeding us quickly and pleasantly. The food was fine but I always find chain restaurants overdo the salt. Overall, a pleasant experience. read more

Not bad, not great. $6.99 burgers on Monday. I had 8oz sirloin. It was tasty but a little fatty. The garlic fries are good but I wasn't crazy about the cheeseburger egg rolls. Service was ok. It was at least friendly. read more

Well see 30 minute wait. So far. Ill let you know how the food is. Wtf. All prepared food taste like its prepared wrong. Ribs was overcooked and crunchy. I never seen a salad served on a small saucer before and why did my waiter give me a steak knife instead of a salad fork I'll never know. Then disappear. Someone please draw that guy a map and give him a clue. We got the same service and the same carpet tasting food last year. So glad my company paid for this and not me. I would've demanded my money back. The only thing that tasted ok was the marinas sauce for the cheese sticks. read more

Richard, the manager at Sandusky's Applebees, was very nice and accomodating. There was an issue with my meal and Richard immediately apologized and iffered several remedies. He is the perfect person to deal with customers. Because of him, i will not hesitate to go back to that location. read more

Worst food in Sandusky. Doesn't respond to complaints. Hope they enjoy the summer crowds. Come winter no local will eat there.

Oh Applebee's, where the broccoli is exquisite, the pretzels divine, and the service warm and cordial. However, the lemonade was not lemonade, it just tasted like lemon, sugar, and water. Also, the ginger ale made my throat itchy, why is this? Five and a half stars. Also they messed up my order. read more

I ate here while visiting the Water Park. I should have went somewhere else however I have had good experiences at other Applebee's but not this location. My chicken was dry and the portions were small and that goes for every order that we had. Again, way over priced for what we got. I would never go here again. If you are visiting, I would suggest you go somewhere else. I mentioned to the manager that my chicken was dry but he said little about it, almost as if he knew it was dry and that is normal. In Sandusky for a convention and figure we would stop at Applebee's for dinner. We at in "The Hive" pretty cool addition to the place!!! Had the bourbon chicken which was very good and ended it wit a pecan blondie that was outstanding. Waitress was great, she was working the bar and the tables and did excellent!!! read more

gave it a four because the bartender was awsome. not a big fan of applebees or chains but they are predictable if thats what you are looking for. i am more of a fan of the people who work in these places. they depend on us for a living too, and just once in a while you meet a good one who shows it. read more

Great food great service. We love this place. The outdoor patio bar is awesome and has a different feel than other Applebee's.

This is the lowest rating I've ever given an Applebee's. We usually love their food, but not this Applebee's. My husband ordered the grilled chicken salad & half the ingredients were missing. It was basically just lettuce and grilled chicken. I ordered the chicken strip basket and the chicken was okay, but no seasoning on the fries. If you're on a bland food diet this is the place for you. Also, this one doesn't have the potato twisters anymore (one of our favorite appetizers). We were told by the waitress that they quit doing them in May "because we are a tourist town & they're too hard to make" (whatever that means). The wait was long to get a seat, so we thought maybe the food was good. We thought wrong. The hostess is about as friendly as a prison guard. The waitress was friendlier than her, but seemed to be much more preoccupied with 2 of her tables than the rest. Honestly wish we had went to McDonald's. I am sure the taste and service would've been about the same, but faster and cheaper. read more

We went in at about 11:05 earlier and we were met with an unenthusiastic host. Got to our seat and no one said or came to our table for 10 minutes. They were not busy or understaffed, as a number of waitresses and even a manager looked at our table and didn't come over. We left soon after and went to the bedubs where the waitress was super hella fire and did an awesome job. In other words, go to anywhere other than this Applebee's as they don't care. Absolutely Amazing Service and Food here tonight...and open late after a full day of Cedar Point (11pm). Waitress was great, and afterwards manager came by to see how everything was and saw us out.
