I ordered ahead online and scheduled my pick up for 06:10. I arrived at 06:15 and the hostess told me it would be at least 15-20 minutes. I told her that I could not wait as I was on my way to work. She said she'd check on the food and came back and said 5 minutes. We had an unfortunate experience at the Applebee's on Curtice Road in Northwood, Ohio. We stopped with friends to get a bite before driving around Oregon, Ohio to see the special Christmas lights on display. When we ordered, the servers (who were very kind, by the way, Dakota and Cynthia, I think), told us they had no French fries. We could choose from a few different things for replacement. One choice was waffle fries, AT AN UP-CHARGE OF $2.99!!! Wait. What? You have no fries, and so you are going to charge me for the fried potato substitute? The manager, Skyler, was absolutely not professional, not willing to accommodate and said "well, you have to do what you have to do" when we chose to leave. He was 'sorry' but there was nothing he could do. Really? "Comping" an order of waffle fries would have saved 4 customers this evening, as well as in the future. Well, we left our pop, iced tea and a draft beer on the table and went elsewhere. What poor customer service, Applebee's. Shame on your trainers. We will not return. read more

As consistent as can be expected from Applebee's, we needed a quick lunch before starting our work and this location complied. We like the 2 for $22 deal. 2 entrees and an appetizer. The Fiesta Lime Chicken was excellent and the Oriental Chicken salad as great as we've had anywhere. I feel as if the Spinach & Artichoke dip was a smaller portion than back home. My cousin says I'm crazy. Tasted spot-on, whichever. The waitstaff were wonderful. The glasses were kept full and we received multiple visits from our server. Well, myself and the group I was with had an unfortunate situation with the Applebee's at 3007 Curtice Rd., Northwood, Ohio 43619. We were seated promptly and our two waitresses, Cynthia and Dakota were delightful, taking our drink orders and bringing them right away. When we were about to place our dinner order Cynthia informed us that they had no french fries to serve and that we could either substitute another item or upgrade to waffle fries for an extra $2.99 (a ridiculous price for a substitution like this, I might add!!!). We said that was unfair to charge us an upcharge for the waffle fries given that it was their fault that they didn't have any french fries to serve. We were't interested in the other side options and asked to speak with the manager. Well, after a longer than neccessary wait, the manager, Skylar, finally makes his way over to us. We told him that it wasn't fair to upcharge us for waffle fries given that they were out of regular fries. The attitude that he gave off was that of a manager that had no real managerial skills in resolving customer problems and it appeared that he couldn't care less if we were satisfied or not. Now, I've worked in food management and It seems to me that a good manager would have resolved our issue one of two ways. One, comp the upcharge for the waffle fries or two, send someone over to the Meijer that is right across the parking lot and buy some fries to serve, paying for it out of petty cash! Skylar, is clearly not a very resourceful manager with virtually no people skills and is in desperate need of additional training! As a result we left Applebee's and went to their competitor, Buffalo Wild Wings and had a great meal and far better service. It's needless to say that I likely won't be returning to Applebee's as there are far to many other options for a good meal with great service than to have to settle for amateur hour with, quite frankly mediocre food, at best. read more

Ok, here is the deal over the years food portions have become smaller. I get it but when the burgers they show on tv and on the menu look big and so good well, I get excited! But, when the triple bacon shows up with one piece of bacon and just cheese well the missed this one. The burger was cooked well but it was smaller they what I feel one should get... I could have gone to Wendy's and got a bigger better burger any day. Then the fries were good but I only got 15 to 18 of them which to me is a joke! For what we paid for the meal totally not worth it at all! Great Applebee's experience. Was driving through town on a road trip. Needed a dinner place that we knew we could get something for everyone and no surprises. Frozen margs on happy hour about $4 each. Steak fajitas were very good, the steak was a great medium, not over cooked at all. I asked if I could get extra veggies instead of the rice, it was no problem & no extra charge. Served with guac, sour cream, lettuce, pico & shredded cheese. And 4 soft tortillas. Not as good as Guapos, but I give it an A+ for Applebee's. Chicken wonton stir fry was good, pretty large portion, slices of chicken over rice with some vegetables like broccoli, red peppers & green onions, very lightly sauced with some kind of stir fry sauce, topped with crispy wontons. Not bad. Service was excellent. Overall great dinner. read more

Our intention was to have dinner at one of my favorite places, Applebee's. We ended up actually having dinner at a competitor. We left Applebee's because we were told French fries were unavailable and Waffle fries were not an available substitute. Manager Skyler told us he was not allowed to substitute, but if we wanted Waffle fries, there would be a "small" upcharge of $2.99. He said no Applebee's locations in town had French fries. What makes Applebee's Waffle fries so expensive (we did not expect them to be loaded)? If I go to the store . . . both French fries and Waffle fries cost the same. So, my question: Why would you give up business because of something that is not costing you any more to use as an equal substitute. If this truly your policy . . . I believe we will take our business to the competition . . .which we did tonight. I may not call Applebee's one of my favorite places to eat any more. Bad call Applebee's. read more

Applebee's often gets a bad rap. I admit I am not a fan most of the time based on the last few experiences in the Indianapolis area Applebee's locations and other cities over the past few years. We're currently traveling and this location is close to the hotel and we wanted to walk to dinner in the early afternoon. Positives, we went during happy hour and the location was not crowded. Drink specials were available and the margaritas were surprisingly really good. We ordered on the rocks, no salt for me. Salt for the husband. He liked his and he is super picky and liked his drink. Our server was prompt and friendly with everything. They were out of the wraps and she was apologetic (the husband wanted to order a wrap). He got soup and salad and I ordered the impossible burger with a side of broccoli. The order was perfect. They didn't put cheese or any toppings I asked to not get which is usually the case so I was very happy. The broccoli was perfectly cooked, not mushy and not raw tasting, and not overly buttered. It was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of softness. Husband said the French onion soup was really good and no complaints on the Caesar salad. He didn't have any special requests for his order. The server checked on us the appropriate amount of times. Given she was handling the bar and take out orders, I give her extra kudos. The location wasn't super busy, but had quite a few elderly in for their late afternoon dinner. The music was kept at a nice low sound instead of blaring like some places do these days. Made it nice for chatting. I liked that the place was clean. Didn't notice anything that stood out to mark off any stars for cleanliness anywhere and I'm picky about that. I did not go into the restrooms on this visit. I would definitely visit this Applebees location again. read more

It is what it is, a chain restaurant where nothing is cooked from fresh ingredients. I ordered the won ton chicken tacos, they were sickening sweet. Server replaced them with something else with no issue. Service was good. After that I decided to look into the nutritional facts at Applebee's.com. All their food is mostly processed in some shape or form because when you look and see how much sodium in in their food, your heart will explode. I got the boneless wings, only to get home and find out they have 4000 mg of sodium in them!! That's 200% of your daily intake. Don't take your grandparents here, if you do, bay park hospital is nearby. One star because the food may look and smell good, but all their food has a lot of sodium in it! It's very misleading. Have fun, but be careful if you're sensitive to sodium... you never know what you're being served. read more

Came in around 730pm were told there was a 5-10 min wait, there were 4 empty tables in various sections. I pointed it out to the hostess and he proceeded to tell me they were "waiting on the kitchen to catch up to the rush" and they "just sat that server" we stood for about 5 min before being sat. We ordered the 2 for $20 with salads as well as an appetizer. Our salads and appetizer came out together. We were barely done with our salads, not even starting the appetizer, and our food came out. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, no pink, it came out with pink. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars on a horrible visit was the manager took care of us more then expected and the server was wonderful. read more

This has been a great place to visit for years. We have been going to this location for 15 years. We visit more now that we are older and don't cook at home as much. The group working here now have been doing a great job for being next to Expressway. You never know how busy it can be with the traffic from l-280. The team here always work together to help each other when they get slammed from highway traffic. Right now they got a lot of specials so we come in 3 or 4 times a week for the appetizers at night. So, here's the gist of my experience. I called earlier today (Aug 30th) to check this location's business hours due to the whole pandemic thing, and was told very plainly that it was closing at 11. I arrived later in the evening probably around 10:45 or 10:50. When I approached the entrance there were cars still in the parking lot and people visibly dining inside, but the entrance was locked. I had such a shit day at work and didn't want to cook for myself, instead I wanted to treat myself to a full rack and maybe make the day of a server a little bit better provided the service was good! See, when I walked up to the door and saw it was locked, a server even walked by, made eye contact with me, and then walked away. Such a huge letdown. Worst applebees ever. Called in advance to get a table for two they don't reserve for any party size so thats fine. Got in they took our name and was told 15 to 20 min for a table thats fine. That passed and I started to notice people that came in after us were being seated so I said something another couple noticed to and walked up when we did to say something and we were told that our party of two was to small for the table ok I understand. The other couple was smart and said our money is to big for your restaurant and left at this point i was already pissed and took a menu and went back to waiting. Finaly was seated after an hour it is now 8pm. We got our drinks and ordered everything right off the bat cause of the wait we knew what we wanted. 20min went buy got our appetizers everything looked as if it was sitting under a heat light for while but was good we finished that and began to wait again 8:45pm we finaly asked for a manager well that screwed us cause she brought the food out,hold there. We told her about our experience and she gave us our appetizers for free ok cool i begin to eat and my burger is cold and pink not even close to being done ground meat should never be pink not todays meats anyway i asked for a box so i could finish cooking the burger at home and eat knowing its done. Service stinks. Had to wait 45 mins and there was empty tables the entire time. They use the bigger tables to seat tables of 2 and keep the 2 seat tables open which makes absolutely zero sense. Management is incredibly rude. My husband went to pick up an order for a third party delivery service and simply asked why they were always slow to make these take out orders. He unassigned the order and upon leaving the restaurant, the manager chased him into the parking lot accusing him of being abusive to the staff and that he would be banned from the establishment. My husband has worked in food service for 20+ years including management and has never been abusive to staff. If anyone was abusive, it was the manager who in no way should be chasing people into the parking lot yelling after someone asked a simple question. This is completely inappropriate for any staff member to do to anyone. Period. read more

We aren't normally Applebee's people but we needed dinner at 9:30 off the interstate and it was convenient. The salmon was excellent with nicely prepared vegetables. Everything else was good too -- the Cowboy burger, shrimp fajitas, grilled cheese and great tomato basil soup with shaved Parmesan. The restaurant was clean, the server was nice and attentive and we are glad we stopped here. read more

I really enjoy this Applebee's. Servers are very friendly. I actually think food comes out too quick. I like to finish or be almost finish with appetizer before entree comes to table, so I ask server to wait 10-15 min to put in entree order after we get appetizer. I also ask them not to use a lot of salt and if I get fries I do not get the seasoned fries. We've never had any issues here. read more

Our family arrived at Applebees in Northwood on Sunday January 12th for my daughters birthday dinner, which turned out to be a disaster. We waited over 35 minutes to be seated even though we called ahead to give them a heads up we were going to have a party of 11. And then we waited almost 40 minutes for our food. Which 2 of the orders were cold and my daughters friend had to leave and go to work. The waitress never even apologized to us and normally you see the manager walking around to see how things were. Nope she was standing at the back wall, I probably should have got up and told her, but after seating ourself and having to get my grandsons highchair myself, I was already sold that my family owuld not be returning. read more
