Every time I order carside to go here, I ALWAYS end up having to go inside and get it myself. Every single time. I wish I was lying. Then after 10 minutes being over the pickup time, I was informed they were waiting on my fries...ok..great that's fine..fresh fries right? Nah. I get home, open my food..everything is correct, HOWEVER, the fries that we're supposed waiting on couldn't have been mine because they were like warm and super soft. My riblets were burnt. We were hesitant about going there based on the reviews. As we were walking from our hotel to go to a different restaurant, a couple stopped us and asked if we were going to Applebees. The woman said it was the best time she had there. So we changed our mind and went. We decided to sit at the bar, between the barmaid and other patrons, we had a great time. We ordered dinner the 2 for meals, great bargain. My husband got the sirloin steak and I got the fiesta lime chicken. Food was delicious, cooked perfectly. We even got a discount for staying at the hotel. We ended up going there again on our way home, ordered the same food, just as good as the first time, same great customer service. So I haven't eaten here since before 9/11. But today we were passing through the area on the way home from a trip and I thought it would be funny to eat here, since I haven't been to McDonough much since leaving after high school. The joke was on me, unfortunately. This restaurant was very dirty, and all one has to do if they don't believe me is to look up at the ceiling. I didn't notice this until after or order had been placed, so we were stuck. Our waitress was polite enough, I guess but our food took a while to come out, on a slow Sunday afternoon. The sandwich was piping hot but the fries tasted like they were made yesterday. To her credit, our waitress brought out fresh ones almost right away, and that's what got this Applebees location 2 stars. Wow! It wasn't until we were seated that I discovered how unclean this place was. One look at the ceiling tells most of the story but, the floors were sticky, as well. The business should issue hazmat suits to its workers, who have to endure this disgusting location. Clearly, the owners are not investing cleanliness or restoration. I redownloaded this app just to tell you guys how TERRIBLE this dining experience was. 5 mile per hour gridlock traffic in Atlanta is faster than the service at this establishment. I do not blame it on the servers but rather the cooks in the kitchen that I heard arguing for over 40 minutes as we sat on the opposite side of the restaurant. Although, we did not receive napkins and only got 1 refill after being sat at the table for over 2 hours. As far as ambiance, there were maybe 15 people in the restaurant, all chatting away, which was unsurprising due to the lack of food on any of the tables. When we GOT our food, it was overcooked and NOT worth the money. And to top it all off we had to ask for the check TWICE and had to wait 25 minutes to even see it. Food was spot on as it always is! Ambiance was warm and welcoming! AMIYA C was our server, she tried real hard, great personality, great smile, very kind but my wife and I are used to Applebee's servers being on their game all the time. We are assuming she was new, not to mention she was the only young lady on the floor waiting on every table by herself. I had to ask for a spoon to stir my coffee, we had to ask for small plates to share our shareable appetizer, we had to ask for silverware to eat our entrees when they came, but she did everything that was ask of her with a smile and an apology every time we ask for something! Terrible customer service!!! Visited on 8.6.2025 and sat for over 15 minutes with no service. Waitresses were serving the tables in front and behind us and they never acknowledged us. We decided to go somewhere else due to lack of customer service. Dave n' Buster's in McDonough has top tier customer service... I recommend you go visit Dave n busters first. Had not been to Applebees in a year. Was very disappointed. The service was good, took a long time to get food and was shocked when it came out. I had a mushroom burger and side salad. The salad was borderline, wilted and turning yellow. Burger was slapped on a plate with no garnish or anything, a brown blob. The burger tasted like a dirty grill and had black residue on it. It was greasy and tasteless. My friend had the same with tomato basil soup. The soup was lukewarm warm and tasted like gambles right out of the can. Our waitress was excellent. However, the cleanliness of the location was horrible! A roach crawled out from under the table. When I brought it to the attention of an attendant, she stomped on it and then left it on the floor. Another table got a manager to address it. The food was decent but we've had better. Before we left, i visited the ladies bathroom. Two of the stalls were filthy and the only one that was clean had a door that didn't lock. OK so any decent night at this Applebee's is dependent upon who's working. We tend to sit at the bar so the service is more consistent and the bartenders seem hardworking. The rest of the staff minus a server or two can come across as lazy. I see alot of standing around and hanging out near the back by the bar. Meanwhile the bathrooms will be dirty, customers will need help and food will need runners. If I managed here I'd have to be in house more often to observe and enforce more working and less socializing. The food and drinks are decent though, so the cooks and bartenders are doing their part. This is what happened; We walked in, and got seated at a table. Our waitress was really nice, but she was very forgetful. My dad asked for a sweet tea, and instead received a Coke. He didn't mind though (he likes coke). Then, when we ordered our food, we were told that my meal was BURNT. Excuse me? Then, when my food finally came out, I got regular French fries when I CLEARLY asked for waffle fries. On top of that, she took FOREVER to bring us our dessert, to-go boxes, AND check. I've been here many times, but stopped going years ago because of their slow service and customer service issues. I decided to give them another try. It was not that crowded for lunch time when we arrived. We were promptly seated and given menus. I place my order, which was a special that was suggested by the server. 15 mins later, the server tells me they are out of the special. I order something else, a simple lunch, which took at least 30 mins. Our drinks came out quickly, but were gone by the time our food finally arrived. The meal was good, not excellent/not bad, but the time it took to get it wasn't. If you like Applebees, choose this location when you have nothing pressing for the rest of your day. read more

The 3 cheese mac n cheese was just noodles sitting in milk with no cheese. The sweet honey chicken tenders made the whole dish tooo sweet so the bed of noodles underneath just turned into sweet milk and noodles. Very disgusting and i had stomach problems afterwards. Went here today with my husband, sister in law and niece and nephew. My husband and I had the 2 for $20 . We has two Cesar salads and bourbon chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes. Not sure why this is so badly rated on here. It's rated higher on Google and my experience after having lunch and dinner here several times during a stay at the hotel next-door was nothing but good. The food was very good and the service was also good. It's great when you stay at the best Western plus next door and you can walk over and have dinner or lunch. They also give you 10% off for guests staying at the best Western. I had the bacon cheese Burger twice and the fettuccine chicken and broccoli dish twice as well. No complaints. This is my favorite place to eat on my birthday. And of course for the last few years that's been a nada. We live in South Carolina where there is no Applebees. So while visiting family I got my birthday wish.. French onion soup, margarita and the incredible warm blondie topped with delicious hot sauce and ice cream!! It was fantastic! And my husband's awesome hamburger with endless fries hit the spot too! But the best thing way having Jay as our server. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite.
