Pulled into the parking lot at 2:55pm. Waited inside at the door for 2+ minutes. Got seated at a nearby booth with no signs of a server. At 3:04 waitress showed up and we let her know right away. She looked at her watch and quickly told us we were past the 3:00 cutoff for the lunch specials. I asked if she could get the manager to ok it since we waited to be seated and for her to come to our table. The answer was a quick 'no'. I asked again and got same response. She took our drink orders and continued to say the system can't be overwritten. We looked over the menu but when she came back she once again didn't offer any exceptions. We paid $8 for two Coke Zeros and left without even a look from the manager. When she said she hoped we'll come back, my wife quickly assured her with a strong, "we won't be back!" Decided to try it for a burger and fries yesterday! Bad Idea, nothing but excuses, really bad. Done

It's been quite awhile since I've been to an Applebees. If I'm back anytime soon, it will be too soon. Our dinner just wasn't good - neither of us could finish, not because we were full but because the food just didn't taste good. We ordered the 2 for $25 - an app to share and your choice of three different entrees. The $25 was really just a tease - you could pay $3 more to expand the menu to 6 items, $6 more for 9 choices. We chose to share the mozzarella sticks and I had the cheeseburger while hubs had the fiesta lime chicken. We didn't wait long at all for our app. I would have rather have waited a few more minutes for the sticks to be melty hot - not just warm. They were very unremarkable. Shortly after that, we were served our entrees. I took a fry from my plate and one bite was all I needed to give a great big no - I eat salt on everything. The fries were so salty that I couldn't eat them. The burger was equally disappointing. I ordered it with no pink. It was burnt crisp around the edges yet was red, not even pink, in the center. It was so greasy that it was hard to hold the burger together. Putting my burger down on the plate left me with a soggy bun - it absorbed so much of the grease. I got my fries remade but by the time I got them everyone was done eating. My husband described his chicken as "limey". To be fair, it has "lime" in it's name but it was overpowering. It was drowned with the Mexi-ranch dressing which just made a soupy mess. He eats most anything you put in front of him but in this case, he made it through about half of his meal before he just gave up. While our dinner was very disappointing, there were a few bright spots. Our service was terrific. The drink specials during happy hour are quite the bargain. Applebees gives you a free dessert on your birthday that's good all month. If it's free, it's for me! It was delicious. We ordered the mini cinnamon rolls. They were hot and gooey and oh so sweet. They were so rich and the serving size so large that it took us two days to finish them. I might be willing try Applebees again for happy hour. I just won't be back for a meal. read more

We attended this restaurant's soft opening party when our best friend's friend was the original owner of this store. Over the decades since, it's been a reliable Applebee's! I've typically sat at the bar to get better service. Right now it looks like they have a $1 margarita special for a limited time. This store is so old I can't imagine it has aged well but I hope I am wrong. It's a solid place to get a fast casual dinner or lunch. It's in a good location on Madison! read more

I don't blame our server for this Restaurant Management's failure. After ordering and waiting for our food (we already had an appetizer), our server informed us that they were out of Orange chicken Irresista-bowls. This was why were chose to eat here in the first place. So, lost a few stars! Who runs out of there most advertised entree!?!? Terrible! The place was busy and clearly understaffed. Our server was doing the best to her ability but forgot a few things we had asked for, it was frustrating, but she was too busy (there was a table of 16 next tto us). We have been going to this Applebees for years. We have a special needs son who is always treated nice and we are very well taken care of. Current management is outstanding. The manager always greets us, helps the staff, and goes out of his way to show kindness. The staff is friendly and attentive. The first thing that caught my attention is they stopped serving Baked Potatoes. That should have been a red flag. Steak without a Baked Potato is not good. Service is good, friendly, and not overbearing (they're not asking you every ten minutes if everything's okay and would you like to buy something more--they're just there when you need them). Overall a good experience, my friend and I had the got the 2 for $22, Fiesta lime chicken and mozzarella sticks, the chicken and mozzarella sticks were real good, the rice was a little dry but not bad, my wife's meal was good also, the only real complaint was the booth seating was rather cramped with little leg room for a 6' 1" person. I have loved Applebee's for years .. and was glad one was so close to my new home in Madison .... but alas my joy was not rewarded... as has been mentioned before staff is friendly but the food is not good. Been twice .. 1st time the fried shrimp was all bread and did not taste good at all... 2nd time I had the tried and true appetizer sampler... just not good ... spinach dip was off... wings were ok but over done... hate to say it but will not go again ... sad .... read more

Applebees is pretty much Applebees...I have never really had a horrible experience and I have never had an awesome experience. The food has been the same across the board as well, I WILL say that the staff here seemed to be more friendly than any other Applebees I have been to. I would definitely go again someday. read more

No local beer on tap and they took a while to undercook my steak and over cook the shrimp on top. They offered to recook it but I was too hungry to wait longer. I decline the offer. I give 'em three and a half overall. My Strawberry Shake was very good. Anthony gave us very good service at early suppertime on a Thursday. My wife ordered the Ultimate Trio appetizer and shared it with me. The slider cheeseburgers in it get a four and a half from me. They were considerably better than they used to be. The steak quesadilla towers I didn't much care for, as I wasn't much in a mood for spicy. I give them two and a half. The chicken tenders were average. The "mild" sauce on them was a bit spicy for us. Next time we'd get the honey mustard sauce. They did hold the doors open for us! That was a memorable detail of hospitality. I see a lot of this in Madison, of young people opening doors for guests. Do they teach this respectful consideration in school here? read more

Parking is never fun here, you have to almost park at Kroger then walk. The food is never good, based on the 3 trips I have had here. The servers do not know jack about anything on the menu. It is always too loud for me in here, compared to other Applebees I have been to. Nothing makes me more mad than when a server says "it's a lot of food" or "oh yeah that is so good" when in fact they are both false. Happens here all the time.
