Just visited. Walked in and host came up and I said just "one". He asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. I said "no". He said "oh really" and huffed a bit and said "I guess we'll get you a table then" with the attitude that I was inconveniencing him by having to take up an entire table. I walked out. I won't be back. Updated 5/11/25 - Somebody named JK left a compliment on the review. I did not approve it, because it was not a compliment. So it does not appear. They accused me of having a bad attitude the moment I walked in the door and disrespecting the staff. That is an absolute lie. All I said to the "host" was party of 1 and then he got "huffy". We haven't been to Applebee's in a long time. I stopped going when it went through the phase of the place being extremely dark and the music was extremely loud. But the husband wanted to take me out to eat there. It really has changed..I was glad I could see and the music was at an acceptable level, the waitress was friendly. That's the good. Although friendly, we had to ask for everything, extra napkins, a glass for my husband's beer, saucers(she wasn't familiar with that word,so plates)so we could share our appetizers. The food came the sauces were not there. BBQ sauce and cocktail sauce. I ordered the all u could eat shrimp and riblets. The dumple crunch shrimp would've been great if cooked to the point where you didn't get a mouth full of flour. The riblets were good but I remember that wet wipes USED to come with the riblet order. I guess that's not a thing anymore either. At one point my husband asked the waitress if it was her first day. I don't think I'll run back there any time soon. read more

The curbside service is a joke. My order was supposed to be ready at 7:00pm. It wasn't. I called the number on the website and spoke to someone. I told her I've been waiting at the curb for 20 minutes. She never apologized, just my order will be out "as soon as possible". The same thing happened in January. I will not go back there, and I do not recommend using curbside. I wish I could get back my tip. read more

I came in last night with three of my friends to grab dinner and some drinks . My friends got food poisoning (the meat in their dish must of been spoiled) and they have been at the doctor all morning. We called in a pickup order of the 2/$25 Burgers and Fries with the Mozzarella stick appetizer and were told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. Drove to the location and got the order without too much delay and brought it home. Containers were warm so we dived in. We had no expectation for piping hot food because it was a pickup but we did expect the food itself to be edible. We were wrong: someone must have dropped the salt shaker into our food, both burgers were so salty we couldn't eat them. The condiments were questionable. The lettuce was limp and tasteless, the tomato slice was mushy. And the pickles were so unappetizing I removed them but the taste they left behind (saturating the bun) was rank. I don't know what they did to the french fries but "tasteless" is the only description I can think of. The cheese sticks were like the cheap frozen kind from the supermarket. Service was fine, food was awful. We weren't expecting anything fabulous for a relatively inexpensive meal but we kinda sorta hoped it would be edible. It wasn't. I would almost three star it but our waitress was so good. When we were sat we were forgotten about but I think who we were supposed to have just left unannounced. I asked another server after 15 mins if we could have someone come to our table and she said our server would be right with us but I don't think she said anything. We flagged another one down and she was super nice and took our order and our food was out pretty fast. The prime dip is expensive for what it is but it's good! It comes with french onion dipping sauce which is also the soup.. why not just give the whole soup. There's no side. The ranch chicken sandwich was flavorful but sort of like a school lunch patty. While I was waiting, I saw a middle aged woman come in and tell the young gal who had my order (this was in the To go room) blatantly that there was no reason they could not make the one with "Teremana" in it. They were going to start substituting another drink mix (strawberry) with the actual mix because "it tastes almost the same and will save money". I kid you not. If there are any bartenders that can weigh in on this and do a sting on this operation, it would be helpful. She even stated that her and a few others know alcohol and the rest of the "others" did not. I am going to send a message to corporate about this because this is NOT how you shortchange customers and if you are served, to message www.rmhfranchise.com/connect. They do not need a receipt code to give feedback. Also, take advantage of the receipt survey as well if something does not seem right. Again, as of today, they are out of one of the drinks, I am thinking Berry Rita and I am glad the young gal was honest with me because from this day forward, they are going to substitute drinks. I have been to this Applebee's before and have not had the greatest experience. But I will have to say, something must have changed? I haven't been here in over 2 years because I got very sick. Our waitress Shae was VERY aware of our drinks and kept them full and coming. Having 3 adults and 3 kids and all the demands that we had, she really made this experience at Applebee's overall really great. Anyway, came here with my family and everyone got something different: 1) ALL YOU CAN EAT: Tuesday Bone in wings with unlimited fries. While the fries were absolutely delicious, but when his 2nd set of chicken wings came out, one was not cooked thoroughly. So, the food tasted great but be careful to double check your wings. 2) Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken: It was very good but needed more sauce and less parsley. It was on a bed of cranberry rice which was fantastic! Overall it was very good. 3) 8 oz steak with mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. The green beans needed more salt and kind of watery...they need bacon. Steak and mashed potatoes were fine. 4) Kids menu with quesadilla and mashed potatoes. While the food was really great, I originally stated to our waitress that I didn't want the chicken with the quesadilla, I just wanted cheese and nothing else. The first time they brought it out, there was chicken in it. When the waitress came by, I shared my concerns and she took my plate and came back within 10 mins and brought me my cheese quesadilla. 5) Bacon cheeseburger w/broccoli: thought I was getting triple bacon and got single (used the 2 for $20 coupon) but it was misunderstood. The server brought a lot of extra bacon, at least 4 servings. It was excellent. 6) Oriental chicken salad (not pictured): It was like it always is and always really great. Me and my wife took a trip to Lexington and decided that we wanted to eat at a nice restaurant and due to the ads online popping up on Facebook about Applebee's grill and bar we decided that's where we wanted to eat..I googled directions on my phone and the one on Sharky way was the closet but only a 2.5 star rating but we thought we would give it a try anyways.we order onion rings for appetizer which wasn't bad ..I myself ordered the mushroom and swiss burger meal which the waiter said was really good with fries ,my wife ordered the beef nachos meal which the waiter highly recommended.The waitress brought our food to the table and in my opinion the burger was really small compared to most high end restaurants but I started to eat my food and my fries I started with first and they were really chewy and greasy and I told my wife they were not good at all so I had her to try them and she said them are really chewy fries and I replied back like these were left over fries and reheated and I could eat them.The waiter had stop by and ask how our food was and I told the waiter the fries were so bad I couldn't eat them so she said I will have you some more made or get you something of your choice and her reply was that they probably been sitting ever since they opened up and we had ordered around 1:30 so I'm not sure how long they had been sitting which I thought places like that made fresh fries and my mushrooms burger was so greasy that the grease was dripping off the burger in my plate and I just barely could stomach to eat it and that's not all my wife's beef nachos was so bad she ate 2 bites and could not eat no more and her nachos were burnt black on top of nachos and was saturated in grease.I would have to say this Applebee's grill and bar on Sharky way was probably one of the worst meals we have ever ate at in any restaurant chain other than Shiloh's in London KY .I would give these 2 restaurants the worst rating of any places that we have at ate for sure.. read more

I ordered French onion soup from here on DoorDash and it was absolutely awful. The top part was very hard and it looked like it was expired food with stuff growing off of it. The actual soup part of it was abnormally thick and had an apple sauce consistency and the smell of it all was absolutely horrid I don't know if anyone even opened or looked at this because of how bad this soup was. Food was delicious but thankfully we had a gift card to pay with on the iPad at our table because service was really slow. We ordered the 2/27$ which is a crazy deal. The buffalo chicken boneless wings are one of my favorites I've ever had to this day. We also ordered the four cheese chicken and pasta dish and bourbon street chicken and shrimp which is served on a skillet. Yum! Overall, if you're in a hurry this is not your place. Applebee's has openly been another struggling chain, and it's been clear for a while now why that is. I usually get the same mediocre experience every time I come, so it's never really a surprise. On New Year's Day a group of us wanted to go somewhere to have lunch and watch the UK game, but wanted to go to a place that would not be packed. Applebee's it was, then. Even though Applebee's food isn't the best, I find it a guilty pleasure of mine to love random things on their menu, like their chicken tenders and ribs. During this visit, I tried their Shrimp thai salad for the first time, and it was so drenched in dressing that I couldn't even finish it. The shrimp also didn't taste cooked right, and was just slimy. The service is 50/50, I've had it both ways numerous times. Applebee's just isn't my place. I'm not going to say no if someone wants to go here, but I would never choose it myself. read more

Me and my friends walked into the applebees at 3:30 and didn't leave until 7. Couldn't tell if the applebees time-teleported us or if the service was really just that bad. The restaurant was not busy, but we had to wait half an hour just to order our drinks. We asked if we could go ahead and order our food at that time too and we were denied. It was another 45 minutes until we could even order our food. The food came out an hour later and it wasn't even good. And then we had to wait for the check. I'd forgotten why I stopped coming to Applebee's. They change up the menu, possibly for the good... but nothing ever wows me. This time, it was the emailed birthday bogo offer that brought me back. So, sign up for their email list, if you will. First off, the carpet is so gross, when you walk on it, your shoes stick. The smell from it was apparent as well. Not a great first impression when you first walk in. I started with a side salad, for an extra $1.50 upcharge plus one of my side item offered. Some of the tomatoes were almost green they were so lightly colored. The lettuce had a weird taste as well. My meal, the sirloin wasn't the temperature that I ordered it at and baked potato was under cooked. When I showed the waiter my phone, with the birthday code, he insisted he needed to take my phone. Fine. After he disappeared into the back, I went after him. The manager knew I was standing right there when he's entering in the code, the one that the waiter could've easily just written down... he says to the waiter "why didn't they order drinks?" I get that they're probably struggling when it comes to food revenue, for obvious reasons, but that comment was rude and he went out of his way to say it, knowing I could hear. $20 later, not worth it... even considering the free entree. read more

This Applebee's is located off Leestown Road, near New Circle Road. It was Wednesday at 530pm. The restaurant was nearly full. We were seated quickly and a waitress took our drink orders. She forgot straws and silverware. We had a discussion about our order, my son wanted 3 Mac n cheeses, and they weren't going to do it. After the discussion they decided to sale us the three Mac n cheeses for extra price. Ok. Weird. We ordered two drinks, three Mac n Cheeses, a combo meal and a triple chocolate meltdown. It took approximately 10 minutes for our food which wasn't bad. The total cost of our meal with tip was $32.04 (15% tip) Why 4 stars and not 5? Our waitress was not very attentive. She forgot our straws, she forgot our plates n napkins, and our drinks were empty before she got around to getting us re-fills. We were also charged for sour cream. The service was just ok. The food was good. My son loved his mac n cheese and triple chocolate meltdown. My food was ok. Tip: order the triple chocolate meltdown for dessert. It's well worth the calories! Jim W read more

After finding out that Feather Your Nest Antiques had a photo of my brother circa 1969 for sale, I decided to buy/rescue the photo and do a little antique shopping along the Leestown Road corridor. Following the shopping, lunch was in order and so we decided to hit up Applebee's. I'm frankly amazed at the poor reviews this location has gotten, as our experience was basically perfect! It being a Sunday afternoon, we wanted a leisurely lunch experience, so we ordered a couple of Lagunitas and asked the bartender/waitress to give us a few minutes to relax before ordering. She got a little busy with a take-out order at one point and a manager checked in on us and explained the situation and apologized. We told him the manager we had told the waitress that we were taking our time, so not to worry. Once we decided what to order, our orders were quickly taken and we had our food no time. Everything was piping hot and was as delicious as it was hot! We shared the Brisket Nachos, Chicken Wonton Tacos, and (always a favorite) French Onion Soup and devoured everything in sight. Each item had excellent flavor profiles and I wouldn't hesitate to order each again. All told, throughout our meal, no less than three manager types came by to check on us. Our bartender/waitress was friendly and very efficient. Clearly, the staff cares about the dining experience, which seems at odds with some of the reviews. Maybe they have new management and better training than they used to? Who knows? All I know is that if you're in the area or perhaps live/work nearby, give them another shot! This review is for the amazing experience I had at Applebee's. If you are here for a food review, you are wasting your time; you have bigger fish to fry. Contrary to what you might see on my profile picture, I used to have shoulder length hair. After we finished eating because there is nowhere else to eat in Lexington, a man yelled to me across the bar. I heard a loud "JESUS!!" Surprised I turned around, and he yells again "Hey Jesus, what's up?" Never been asked this question, I panicked, put my palms up and said "I'm back baby." As I was exiting the restaurant, fired up and flabbergasted, the same man came running out and asked for a selfie. Of course I took the photo, he asked me to follow him on Instagram and again, of course I did. You might be wondering, "Max, this seems like an incredible experience, why not 6 stars?" Let me tell you why. While my friends and I were dining we over heard this women talking to the manager. she let it be known early in the conversation that she proudly owns 3 restaurants in Lexington. (Why she wasn't eating in any of those restaurants is beyond me; she probably franchises 3 Ruby Tuesday's.) She rudely commented on the dirty dishes of a table next to her and told the manager he should be disgraced. Had to wait 5 minutes to order drinks...another 10 to actually get them (soft drinks don't take 10 min)...and another 10 min to place our order...took an entire hour to get food in front of us...no excuse.. Family member ordered today 1/1/22 via DoorDash. Third time ordering from this location. They are consistent - the food sucks. When the company is struggling big time and is desperate, they try to improve their menu. BY ADDING SALT. TO EVERYTHING. Today I was napping and while my opinion of this overpriced garbage is known to my family member, she knew I would be very hungry. She ordered a chicken quesadilla for me. Most places this would be a safe bet. Not here. There is a salt seasoning on the outside of the tortilla. (Who does this!) So I peel away the tortilla because it's that bad and the salt seasoning is in the filling as well. Two small pieces was all I could stomach. Stopped in here for lunch with a co worker and half way through i realized it was a mistake. The service was horrible and slow. She apologized for taking 25 minutes to take my drink order. Then apologized for being 45 minutes or so to get the soup salad lunch special. It wasn't even that busy to be a lunch rush. The waitress tried to tell me that the reason for the chaos was that they got a new computer system and no one can use it. Excuse after excuse.
