This review is strictly based on the Kennett Square Applebees: I have had a lot of negative experiences at this chain restaurant in the past, especially when it comes to service. However, this past visit at the Applebees in Kennett Square was quite pleasant. The host and our waiter were extremely friendly! And the food and drinks were good as always! The inside is very clean and has sports memorabilia of local teams, which add a nice touch. I'm glad that the closest Applebees to me is a good one! read more

Strictly a review for this location. And the 5 stars is mostly for the service. I've had mixed experiences at Applebee's in the past usually not great. Let alone eating out. Food was as you would expect for one. Not gourmet food but for an Applebee's was really good. Specificity yesterday when I went I was on 5 hours of sleep in the past 48 hours. By the time I went I had been up for 26ish hours straight (downside to night shift and the birds winning the Super Bowl). So I was exhausted and hungry. Overall the it wasn't too loud and had a good feel at the restaurant. No screaming like I'm used to at Applebee's. Y'all will have to forgive me I don't remember the waitress's name and neither does my girlfriend but as far as service at a restaurant it was the best I've had in a while. Great sense of humor. Didn't have to ask for refills. She checked on us enough times to make sure everything was good but not too much.. if everyone who works there is like her I would 10/10 recommend going to this location. read more

The last 2 times I was there I chipped my tooth eating a hamburger and last night I ordered a 12 oz ribeye steak and it came to me looking like chipped steak! It taste ok but it was not a ribeye steak and the broccoli was cold. And my friend that was with us received the wrong brand of beer. I should've sent my food back. heard a waitress call a customer a fucking cheap ass! our service was subpar and I guess so was his!

We had a great meal tonight for the third time we've had the blonde bartender I did not catch her name.. but she is amazing - the past 2 times we've sat in a both with our 2 toddlers during lunch hours. Tonight we sat in a booth with the toddlers and our teenager at prime dinner time (545) - while attending a full bar AND tables she was (as always) so attentive and right on top of everything!! The food was great my steak came out more well done than I like and without hesitation they made it right! She's a great bartender/ server and we will keep going back for her service! What more can I say about Applebees that hasn't already been said, it is a true American institution. After ordering our third Dollarita the manager began looming around our table, making both my wife and kids extremely uncomfortable. It eventually got so bad where I had to say something. On the app, I put a checkmark next to wanting my burger to have no pink on the inside and when I received my order they had it checked "pink" on the bag. Not a bad lunch - we were on our way to the hotel from the airport, and stopped in for a quick bite to eat. This is going to sound contrived, but it's truly an honest review. I'm not usually a big fan of chain restaurants, and my rating reflects that this Applebee's is the best of it's kind. We've visited many times and the food is consistently surprisingly good. We went for an early dinner on Sunday, July 22. There was a group of 6 behind me and I could hear the interchange with the waiter. They didn't know what they wanted, and although he offered to give them time and come back, they insisted he wait while they decided, asking numerous questions. They requested many items not on the menu, changes to every item, and sauces that don't exist for close to 10 minutes. I would have lost my mind, but he was consistently patient, running back and forth to the kitchen to confirm availability and get descriptions of the contents of every salad, etc. Finally, the manager came out and he handled their requests with kindness and gentle humor, and spent several minutes seated with them until they were satisfied with their orders. It was really above and beyond from both the waiter and the manager and they should be commended. read more

The Applebee's I love is in Longwood Pa. They really go out of there way to be nice to my son, who has Autism. We go every week, and the staff come out and high five him... make a huge fuss. He loves it. The food is always very good, service great, and environment clean. read more

I was prejudiced against Applebee's before I even ate today and I was looking forward to giving a bad review. So I am giving this place a good review despite the fact that it is Applebee's. The good: three of us all ordered the new cedar grilled lemon chicken and it was fantastic. The kids seemed to enjoy the food although my youngest did not eat much. The bad: two problems: having 5 in our party, they squeezed us onto a 4 person table. I got the isle seat and well I found it uncomfortable with people trying to get by. The second issue is that one of our knives came to the table dirty. I think that was a fairly large slip. i should give them less stars but the food was that good. Even the salad was fresh. I never thought I'd give this place 3 starts but I often attend events out here and stay at the hotel right across the parking lot from this place. The staff is always great and the food is very predictable. Plus they tolerate a bunch of us tearing up the place :) And occasionally they have a karaoke night. read more

We were greeted nicely by our server but then ignored for the next 25 minutes at our table (even though it wasn't crowded) before they took our order. We ordered our shared starter, which took another 25 minutes to arrive, which was just boneless wings (which were quite good) BUT 30 seconds after our starter arrived, our mains arrived also, in fact both servers literally bumped into each other. This gave us the choice of eating our appetizers and watching our mains get cold or... scoff them down to have our mains. We had to eat our food rather quickly but the few minutes it took us had already given our greasy burgers enough time to pool in the plates they were served in. We wanted to get a dessert but decided against it because of the slow service and being served both appetizer and mains at the same time. Applebee's is a family-friendly chain. The server was friendly and checked on us whenever she could. The mozzarella sticks were crunchy but chewy. The burger was lukewarm but cooked well just like I asked. The fries hardly had any flavor so I had to use ketchup. Overall, I would come back here if I had to say for like a bday party. read more

My friend and I went on a Wednesday around 2:00 for lunch. That is usually the down time for many restaurants. It was very slow. We wanted to be able to talk without taking up a table that the restaurant and/or waitress would desperately need. The food was decent. It's typical chain restaurant food. The prices are reasonable. Despite it being slow, our waitress was hard to find again. When I did see her I asked for a second round of drinks, she seemed a little annoyed. Also, she complained to us about how she has a lot of kids etc. After we got the bill my friend and I stayed and chatted. (We had already given her a 20% tip.) We thought it would be alright because all of the other tables in that section were empty except ours and one other. However, the waitress kept coming over and was pushing us out despite the fact our table was pretty well cleared and her section was almost empty. read more

Not bad, not great. Food is always reliable, but the service is hit or miss. We live close so we are in here once or twice a month, be prepared to walk through a large crowd of patrons and employees smoking blocking the front door anytime after 6. We have had great servers, but every few times we get one that is really terrible. After 8 or 9 at night some of the servers socialize more than work and it can be a VERY slow meal. over all worth the risk for a simple predictable meal but still frustrating at times. read more

When we arrived, we had to wait at least thirty minutes for a table despite the fact that there were several open tables. We were told that the kitchen was backed up from take-out orders. The service was just okay but the drinks were lukewarm and the food was pretty bad, complete with a hair in my salad. My roommates and I went out to celebrate one of their 21st birthdays, she is a vegan and we knew it would be tough to find her a drink (FYI not all alcohol is vegan). We were trying to help her one and the waitress was clearly making an effort. That waitress got a nice tip. However after the third time of her coming back to ask if we found anything we had she went to ask the bartender, then the what I assume was the manager came over because he never introduced himself and I quote said "I hear we're having an issue with drinks" I looked at him and said yes my friend is vegan and we are trying to find her a drink for her 21st birthday. Him "Oh okay" and then walked away. He was rude and condescending, trust me we knew it would be hard to find a drink but he was a jerk. The waitress was great and I send my thanks to her.
