The French onion soup was with very little broth and miniscule amount of onions, when i dipped the crouton in the soup, there was no broth left. My husbands fiesta lime chicken was dry and the cheese on top of the chicken tasted off. Rice had a good taste, but was very dry. Our waitress said she was new and it showed. Waiters were running all over the restaurant as if they weren't assigned to a specific area. Seen this happening to every table around us. Orders were wrong and food being sent back. If I could give zero stars, I would. Horrible experience. The restaurant was not busy--less than 1/4 full. We were there for 2 hours, our waitress didn't turn in our drink order or bring our salads. She did not care. When our salads did come, the lettuce was frozen and gross, and the dressing was not what we ordered. She just basically shrugged and walked off. Other guests weren't allowed to use gift cards because the waitress could not figure out how to run them. A family with small children got their meals in shifts every 15 minutes. Two hours later when we still had not received our entrees, the lady next to us who had only been there 30 minutes was served her Fiesta Lime chicken--exactly what we ordered 2 hours earlier--we gave up and left. We arrived at 2:15 on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. It seemed like a slow afternoon. We waited 30 minutes for THE GIRL THAT CLEANS OFF TABLES to get our drink order. The 2 servers in our section kept walking past us, never making eye contact. We watched multiple tables get up and leave. My daughter is a college student and a recently diagnosed diabetic and ONLY WANTED A GOOD MEAL FROM APPLEBEES while we visited her. After over an hour another gal (that seemed inconvenienced) came and took our meal order. We waited another 45 minutes for our food to arrive cold. We boxed up our food and left AFTER paying $81.54 for a table of 4 4 and the food was cold and plates were incorrect. During the 2 hours we were in the restaurant we counted and there were never more than 17 customers in the restaurant. (Not 17 tables, 17 customers) We also run a restaurant business and know how hard it is to "keep up" when short staffed but this is ridiculous!! No refills given, no server checked on us. The table across from us waited longer and we walked in and were seated at the same time. What a sad day of a horrible experience at "what was" our favorite restaurant. Drinks and appetizer were quick, then the waiting game began. Blamed the wait on curbside orders, I did not see many curbside pick ups. Then blamed the kitchen. Other tables were getting food that arrived after our order was in. All food except 1 arrived to the table. When the last plate came out, waitress said the 1st plate went to the wrong table and they had to remake it. It was wrong anyways... All in and done we were there an 1 hour and 45 minutes... Service was excellent, food was great. Upon entering was greeted with a smile and very pleasant welcome. After confirming our party of two we were immediately seated in the bar area and placed our drink order. The server was the bartender who's name I can't recall but she was very friendly and efficient. This place is trash. Ordered chicken Alfredo and waited 45 minutes for it and it came out COLD. They never refilled my drinks I ALWAYS had to ask. The chicken was burnt and dry. When I finally wanted to leave I asked for a To-go box and a side of Alfredo sauce, the server told me that they ran out of sauce and they're cooking more, I proceeded to wait another 15 minutes, to NOT get Alfredo sauce. As I was sitting down I got to witness their cleanliness, or the lack there of. I watched the bartender dunk cups in water (I'm praying that there was soap in it) he never washed the cup or scrubbed it. There were grease marks in the glass I never drank out of. read more

Needs management attention!! Our server was morgan and she was awesome. Made sure we were well taken care of. The gentleman that brought our appetizer did not set the food on our table and handed the whole tray to my fiancé. Which was very unprofessional. We had a 53 minute wait for our food. A consistent 6 staff member could be seen standing around doing nothing multiple which were on their phones. No management could be seen anywhere. The hostess could be seen in the back as customers stacked up at the front door . Multiple times the employee was told customers were coming in by other servers yet she never moved until the line was out the door. Would not recommend. The weather is 30 degrees in late November with 50 mph winds and we were seated directly by the to go doors in the back of the restaurant. While waiting for our table to be wiped off I counted 13 tables cleaned off and ready in various sections of the restaurant. Everytime they opened the to go door fridged cold air came rushing past our table blowing napkins all over the place. Our server was nice enough but neglected to take old plates out of the way even after we piled them towards the edge of the table. Our table didn't have a credit card machine so we had to wait for the cluster at the waiter station to fizzle out before we got our check. Food was decent. Every single time I've came to Kearney's Applebee's I always leave questioning why they hell we chose that place to eat. We arrive and it's just about 5:30, it's not busy yet. We order, waiter is kind, but already seems stressed. We get our appetizer right away. Restaurant is still not full, our area isn't either. Waiter comes back 10 minutes later asking if we are ready to order. Duh. We order two kids meals and a 2 for 20 deal. Two other families sit down after we ordered. We wait, patiently.30 minutes later the two families receive their food. We still haven't. 45 mins in our waiter comes and says the kitchen staff is overwhelmed and it'll be another 1-2 minutes. 20 minutes later we receive our food. I'm more annoyed that he said the kitchen staff was overwhelmed, mostly because how do two families with more orders receive their meal before us? Just admit you forgot.. This isn't the first time we've waited for an hour for our food. I don't even want to know what the staff is like when they are actually overwhelmed and busy. Great place to go hard with the bois. Not enough goth hostesses but it is Nebraska so I'll let it slide. After a couple vodka crans you'll be wanting to slam a shot rumpleminze which they unfortunately don't have and sometimes if you play Limp Bizkit on the jukebox they turn it off. When you work in the food industry - please look clean , especially clothes and hair .. no one wants to see pillow head , or dirty hair in a bun . I don't go to the Kearney Applebee's any longer. Occasionally the food and the service is very good but that is rare. Most of the time I either have to wait for over an hour for my food, my order is fulfilled incorrectly, or the food is very bad. Occasionally they hit the trifecta. It has happened enough that I don't like going there hoping for one of the uncommon very good experiences because I feel like a sucker when I am disappointed. I don't eat at very many Applebee's, so when my friend and I knew we were passing though Kearney on our drive to Chicago, we made a point to stop at this location. In a town that has every conceivable chain restaurant, gas station, and big box retail store, Applebee's is a stand-out for its broad menu. The chicken parmesan was just so-so. And the strawberry lemonade was like drinking pure sugar water, with no signs of real strawberries anywhere. But they did have free refills, in a variety of flavors. For some reason I keep giving Applebee's chances. They are what they are...not great...not the worst, but they'll do in a pinch. I personally haven't ever been fond of their meals. My husband loves the new burger with egg on it and that is his go to when we go to Applebee's. I generally just stick with the appetizers....the shrimp, boneless wings, chicken wanton tacos, and green beans are usually what I'll choose from. So if you are looking for a fabulous meal, it wouldn't be my recommendation. Though it does lend itself to group settings because of the variety on their menu. Just limit your expectations as it is a chain restaurant so plan accordingly. read more

Our server, Valerie G. was AMAZING & made our dinner & travels worth it today. We have been on the road traveling for the past several days & have had HORRIBLE experiences with not only poor food, but poor service. This young lady made up for it all. She treated us great from the minute we were seated by bringing us appetizer plates (no one seems to believe in that anymore) & getting our drink order immediately. Our drinks were kept filled & although busy, she continually checked on us to ensure our meal was what we'd ordered (COVID has made excuses for servers to check in with you less & less). The food was properly prepared & arrived at the table correct & hot (another thing that is seriously lacking now days). As we were finishing up she offered desert & to go containers, which she brought quickly. She ensured we enjoyed our meal, helped package our leftovers & was professional the entire time. This waitress gave me hope that there still is great restaurant employees out there. When I pay for a meal out I expect it to be prepared correctly and served hot & with pleasant professionalism. She NAILED IT!! Her manager is very lucky to have her as an employee & I wish I'd had the means to more than triple her much deserved tip. We weren't not sure about this Applebee's when we first walked in, had a 10 minute wait, yet many tables were available. They were definitely lacking in staff. When we got sat down, our server came immediately and was quick on taking our order. Food was out pretty quick!
