I told my friend that I have never been to an Applebees restaurant. So, we decided to come here. Because we were in the northeast Houston neighborhood. I always wanted to visit Applebees on Veterans Day but never made it out there. This was a great eye opener for me. I ordered Southwest Chicken Bowl which was recommended by the waitress. Mmm... it was very satisfying as it came with rice, salad and chicken. Only $14.99. My friend ordered the Ultimate Trio, also $14.99. I almost ordered the boneless chicken wings and fries AYCE but the salad looked better. The wait staff was friendly and waitress came by several times to check on us. The power suddenly went out and came back in a second. All TV's were off. Few minutes later, music was blasting in our ears. Food was absolutely amazing that has never been an issue , I had the great displeasure of having Natalie as my server. I've been more than patient and understanding with this establishment. But something I will not put up with is being discriminated for my sexual preference. When I asked for the manager she rolled her eyes as she smacked her fake ass veneers (excuse my language but I'm sure you guys would feel the same way if your own daughter was being treated this way. The manager Cassandra was just amazing she was very patient and understanding and completely made me change my opinion about this establishment. She corrected it right away and deeply apologized for her employees behavior. As a customer it was very upsetting to see such a sweet and kind soul as your managers ( Cassandra) be attacked and belittled by an employee (Natalie)I really hope this reaches the right people because this was completely unacceptable. The floor manager on duty at 8:30 pm on 1/21/2024, needs to go through the customer service training his servers complete. My husband and I had almost finished our meals when he found a hair under his french fries. We brought it to the attention of the server and asked that he make the manager aware. We were not looking to be comp'd for the meal but wanted to make sure there was some acknowledgment for hygiene purposes. Instead, the server comes back and relays a msg from the manager that since my husband had already eaten the meal there was nothing that could be done or discount to be given. I ordered the lunch 6oz Steak, substituted the mashed potatoes with a Caesar salad and broccoli. Let me say not a good meal. Salad tasted like is was not washed, steak had no flavor and way too tough for a sirloin, broccoli had black spots and my server forgot to refill my husband's drink. We ate so fast to return to work and my husband had to leave without me, while I sat waiting on the waitress to finally return with the drink he requested and pay my bill. I sat at the bar on a weekday night and the bartender and customers were being harassed by these two country white guys who had wayyy too much to drink. Sad part is the bartender kept refilling there beer glass! I felt extremely unsafe and won't be returning. The Bourbon chicken and shrimps was good. The blackened shrimp salad was ok. I went to this Applebees location on Saturday and while I was enjoying my chicken I noticed that their was a hair in it I proceeded on telling the server that their was a hair on my food and if she could make me another piece of chicken and she hesitated and told me if I wanted dessert and I said no I really just wanted another piece of chicken that could of really solved the problem but she dint seem like she wanted to fix the issue. Hostess failed to greet us as we walked in, no smile just rushed us to our table, where the ceiling was dripping water next to the booth to us creating a big puddle with no wet floor signs. Waitresses lack proper training, and not a single worker seemed to want to do their job. Utensils were dirty, our tortillas chips were stale, and when asked for fresh chips, we received a plate with scorching hot tortilla chips, oil still dripping from them. Our entrees weren't any better. Fries were raw, hot, and once again dripping with oil. Chicken was still undercooked and overcooked, how? Thats a question for the kitchen staff. Stopped in for lunch today because someone in our party of 4 was "in an Applebee's mood" (only God knows why). I'm not really a fan of Applebee's or most of their close competitors because I find the food to be pretty unimaginative and lacking in flavor much of the time. And if there is any "flavor" it's from killing it with butter and/or salt. I had the Butcher's Meat & Potatoes, and as good as the picture looked, what I got looked nothing like it and tasted pretty bland. The only plus was that the portion wasn't terrible for what it costs. Our server was not too enthusiastic, didn't point out any specials, make any recommendations, or doing any upselling. She didn't even point out the dessert special where you get a $1 brownie slice with ice cream (available until 4pm) and we didn't even see it until we had ponied up for the bill. At that point, we were ready to just head out. Also, the menus were worn and a little grimy. This visit just reinforced my distaste for this chain and I won't be eager to ever return to this location - or the brand, in general. read more

My husband and I are frequenters to this chain, and have never had to leave a bad review for an Applebee's before. But our first visit to this location will also be our last. Tonight was truly awful. We came in a few minutes before 9pm and were seated, being told our server Kayla would be there shortly. By 9:25 no one had even acknowledged us let alone brought us water or beverages. I alerted the hostess (curly hair, dirty blonde), who said "Oh yeah. I'll take your drink order and let Kayla know." She got our beverages and told us she'd be over after she gets food out for other people. Kayla finally comes over and asks what she can get us and leaves with our order. Both women were nonchalant and acted as though we were the problem. Our food comes out, and the waitress is not to be seen again at our table. We finish our food, get all the way through paying on the kiosk at our table, and STILL cannot get her attention for a box. We wait another ten minutes (at this point it's well past 10pm) and finally get her attention as she had not visited our table at all aside from dropping off the food. I request a to go box. A few minutes later, she comes walking over with a box. I wish I were joking when I say she dropped the box ON THE FLOOR, picked it up, AND PUT IT ON MY TABLE. She walked away as my husband and I stared at one another in disbelief. We left the box and food on the table and walked out... Not one person saying a word to us. Y'all... I wish there was a single good word I could say about this experience. But from start to finish it was a disaster. We both left livid and without half of my meal I tried to take with me. The unprofessional attitude of the establishment is sickening. We didn't get back out of there until 10:30pm!!! How in the world were we in an Applebee's for an hour and a half? Also informed by the waitress/bartender (when our food was brought to our table) pay your check now, we are changing shifts. I felt rushed and my honey was not feeling well (from his doctors appointment). We go to this neighborhood Applebees regularly. Then I never got a copy of the bill; just the copy I paid the bill with, I asked the new person on the shift for a copy. If there was an option for zero stars that's what I would give. 1. There was no greeting. No smile, no hello.....nothing. Just the question ......"How many?" 2. It was hot inside the restaurant......so hot that a couple behind us left. I mentioned it to the waitress and at first it seemed as if I disturbed her for asking if there was anything they could do about the temperature. She then said, I don't think there is anything they can do. Once the family behind us complained, she then went and told the manager who said it was on the wrong setting. 3. The service was terrible, refills came about 20 minutes after the drinks were finished and we were offered more chips with our chips and salsa order but they never came. The waiters were standing around on their cell phone or conversing with one another....... and I just terrible. It is a Monday night so it was not crowded at all! 4. The food was terrible. The lettuce for the salad was warm and my chicken in my pasta was undercooked. 5. When the waitress finally came to the table, she asked if we wanted more water, we said yes, she said how many, 4? We order dollar drinks of the month which so happens to be long islands which were great then she lets me know all apps are half off. So I get the app combo it was 15.99 so if it's half off it should be 7.99 long story short I got my bill and it was 20$ that's ok but she charged me full price on the app combo and I left her 5$ so I'm pretty sure she up charged my ticket to get more , I get that you need it in these uncertain times but conning people is not the way to go. Enjoy your 10$ tip I guess ! But I was terribly mislead and that shouldn't be able to happen ! I used to actually be okay with coming here. The bar was open and you could order drinks until about 1:30 or 1:45 am. It's now only 11:20 and before we even got a server, the bartender shouted that it was the last call for alcohol. Mind you there's no curfew in place anymore. Anyway, our sever seemed less than enthused, and I get it--it's the end of the night. But we were told we couldn't get a pitcher, or even any shots. Only two margaritas a piece...which is the equivalent of a pitcher, if not more. I don't blame our server for our bad experience but the restaurant itself. Get it together management.
