Not much is open in rural New Jersey after 9 on a Thursday night. This was evident, given the crowd at Applebee's. I came here with a larger group (9) to enjoy a couple drinks, apps, desserts, and camaraderie. Food came out quick, fries, mozz sticks, drinks, lava cakes, and my apple pie. Everything was just below satisfactory. I typically despise going to any sort of chain like this, but when it is the only option, you go. The apple pie I had was ok, but lacked depth in the flavor and felt a little bit too doughy or something. Happy hour starts at 10:00pm. Crazy. My main gripe comes with the service. I totally understand businesses being understaffed and a server being busy. I am sympathetic to this. However, we waited a while for our checks (fine), and then our server just brought a stack of receipts to the table and basically told us to figure it out. We did, and upon returning she asked us to wrap our receipts around our card and toted them away. When she brought the checks back, she again left a stack of receipts and cards on the table with one pen. Nine people. If you're just passing through this area, eat elsewhere, enjoy some New Jersey pizza/bagels. read more

Well let's start the food is really good not amazing but def not bad I'm sure everyone has been to a Applebees at some point in their life so you should get what I'm saying. Location is convenient depending on the day and time you go there it can either be quite hectic with so many high schoolers or not a bad atmosphere where it's more slow paced. The staff and servers are pretty friendly I will say last time o was there my server Paula was exceptional. But overall most of the servers are pretty nice. Except one time I did have a server that never came back to check on us wish I remember her name but I was a couple years ago so I definitely don't remember. It's a good place to go if you want a decent meal they always have different deals going on so it's def affordable I would recommend read more

I'm happy to live near this Apple bees! The ambiance is so homey especially since I grew up going here. This place has honestly changed for the better in the past few years, the building is always clean and comfy! I went with my old high school friend to catch up with and the food was great, he got some chicken wings and they came out delicious! So I ordered the 6 oz steak. I should have just ordered a bucket of salt. I couldn't eat it. It was unedible. The waitress and another young woman who I assume was the manager both did offer to get me another one however I was with two other people and I wasn't trying to hold everybody up. As I sat there I got deathly ill and had to run to the ladies room and I left my credit card with somebody else in my party to pay the bill. I had to go to the car. When they came out of the restaurant they apologize that it took so long. It seems the waitress was at another table getting a complaint about the steak LOL. My wife and I went in for dinner. No one was at the front to greet us. We waited to be noticed for 10 minutes before finally seating ourselves. 5 minutes later we saw the seater come out from the kitchen. We called to her and informed her that we seated ourselves. Her response was rude stating they weren't that kind of restaurant. Never apologized. During this time another customer was waiting to be seated. Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised in how good the food and service was. The whiskey bacon burger was huge and delicious. Cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my lunch here today! Had the lunch combo of the French onion soup and half a Classic Grill sandwich for $8.99. The soap was very hot in temp, exactly the way I like it! It was very tasteful in flavor as well. The sandwich was also delicious. I topped it all of with the $1 Brownie Bite which just the perfect size! It had a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce drizzled over it and the brownie piece which had pecans. Highly recommend this combo! And the service was very accommodating as well! Then I usually get one of the salads which always are great, enough for two. I also get chicken fingers and the onion rings with their honey mustard dip which is to die for. Having been to this location in the past I recommended it to a friend and coworker as a place to have lunch after a very long shift (starting at 5:30am). We were sat right away at about 1pm or so. We decided on a 2 for $20 platter as both of us are strapped for cash this holiday season, and really don't have a lot to spend. Our waiter Nick was very polite as he took our orders, she ordering a burger from the 2 for $20 and I ordered the plate of riblets. We both additionally ordered soups and everything went well. Our food arrived on time, and I remarked how large the portion was for a 2 for $20 plate. My plate even had coleslaw on it, which I enjoyed. There was too much food in fact, i ended up taking most of my fries and riblets to go. When our check came I saw that I was charged an additional 3 dollars for the riblet platter, which I didn't order. I just wanted the plate since I was spending money on a soup before the entree and I knew that would fill me up. I called over our waiter Nick to let him know that there was a mistake on the bill. Nick says "Oh, but you enjoyed that coleslaw right? Because the coleslaw is on the platter and not on the plate" as he gave me a look that made me feel really ill at ease. I felt reprimanded. I kindly said "Yes, but I did not order a platter". How was I supposed to know coleslaw didn't automatically come with the plate? There was no indication on the menu. I merely ate that which was presented to me by our waiter. He feigned kindness as he said he would try to get the charge taken off the bill and then continued to have my co-worker and I wait around for an additional half hour as he passive aggressively took his time to ring up our order. Its like... Nick man, I get it, two chubby girls come in and order waters and are trying to keep the tab to a minimum so why bother having to keep the customer service at a high, especially during a hard day? Well my friend and I had a hard day working in the food industry as well and the reason you keep customer service at a high is so you don't get scathing reviews like this on yelp. Be nice, be accommodating, and think the next time you speak down to someone who was polite to you the entire dining experience. Just because a persons bill will be small doesn't mean its cool to treat them rudely. If you think that, get a job in another profession. I am not sure if I will return to this Applebee's, just very disappointed. Wanted to have a nice lunch after a long day of work and just... idk, I didn't appreciate being spoken rudely to. Despite not being busy & having multiple severs/ hosts at entrance, it took them nearly 10 min to take our drink order. Always a great place for Half Apps at 10 PM! They have live music during the week, Wednesday night specials, ladies night and half priced appetizers every night! It can't get any better than that! Upon arriving in a small town in New Jersey, the hip spot to go the night before Thanksgiving, or any night for that matter is this chain called Applebees. Being from a small town myself, where we have bars, I must say that I was a bit shocked, but was also pretty excited to experience Applebees in this part of the country. It was actually pretty good - considering we just had lots of drinks and some shots. In addition to this, there was also a trivia game going on. We didn't do too terribly, but it was still a nice thing to do on a busy night before the holiday. It's obvious that there are a lot of locals that go here and it is the hip spot for people to go, chill, have a couple drinks and vibe with people. We ordered 5 entrees. The Fiesta Lime Chicken dish was horrid. It was so bad I wouldn't even feed it to a dog. Rice was hard couldn't tell if it was undercooked or overcooked. The Chicken had a ranch like dressing on it then it was covered in a hard cheese crust. The flavor was nonexistent and the texture was gross. Tiny shards of tortilla chips were hiding under the Chicken. I tried to just eat it anyway but I couldn't get past 5 bites. I've felt sick to my stomach with nausea ever since. My daughter had horrible cramping from the buffalo boneless Chicken bites. My husband also had an upset stomach from the same Buffalo chicken bites. Terrible meal. My wife order a bacon cheeseburger and I ordered a turkey bacon avocado club sandwich. The bacon on both sandwiches was burned and the beef patty for the burger was overlooked, dry, and cold. The fries that came with the meal were cold and withered. My sons cheese quesadilla was cold. This has been one of the worst meals my family has had and with a hefty price tag close to $50. Which is very high price for a hamburger, turkey sandwiches, cheese quesadilla, fries and 3 beverages. I came with my friend and we ate the 2 plates for $20. My friend asked for the chicken tenders basket and was nothing. Like 10 fries and 3 tiny tenders.
