Had a pretty average what you would expect experience at Applebees recently. We went on a Saturday right when they opened for lunch. The hostess was a little odd and not very friendly. We were seated in a booth by the window. It was FREEZING. I suspect they had the AC blowing or something because it was significantly warmer outside. Mind you we are in our late 20s/early 30s and rarely get cold, so it was noticeably cold. I got the bourbon chicken and shrimp and my husband got a burger. The shrimp were delicious! The chicken was okay but had somewhat of a weird soap taste. I wasn't sure if it was a weird seasoning or legitimate soap residue on the skillet. My husbands burger and fries were tasty. Surprised to see all the negative reviews on here. Feels like that type of deal where it's only the people with a bad experience leaving reviews. This place is always hopping when we drive by. While we have not yet had the opportunity to dine in person, we have ordered DoorDash from them now at least half a dozen times. Quality and accuracy have been consistent and the food is great. Tonight I was truly impressed. They forgot a part of my order and in a first time ever experience, they as the restaurant had an additional DoorDasher deliver the missing item AND gave me a $10 voucher for next in person visit. As a heavy DoorDash user, I have had numerous issues with orders over the years from other restaurants in the area and never once seen a restaurant go out of their way to make things right without me having to complain. Recently during my visit here, the manager was very helpful in correcting my on-line order. However the food I received was not quite up to par. The pretzel appetizer was slightly overcooked and dark brown. The beer cheese and honey mustard which accompanied the pretzels were very good though. The other appetizer I got was salsa and chips. The salsa was good but the chips were stale. Pretty hard to screw up either of these orders. read more

Eating at this Applebee's in the past was our way to traveling outside our neighborhood for a 'special treat.' The last visit was very disappointing -- Sunday, 10/31/2021, around 7PM. The parking lot was not half filled so we anticipated a short wait for waiting and service. Our orders were taken with a minor wait. However, our food was delivered to our table AFTER a neighbor's table was seated, ordered, served, and paid!! We had 3 options for salad dressing: ranch, Italian, and barbecue sauce! Several side dishes were no longer available. Our food arrived as ordered and the taste was as expected. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic. Lastly, do patrons have to see the underwear of the servers? Yep, a server had his pants pulled down below his waist to show the patrons the color and style of his Haynes. Stopped last night for dinner. And while I understand they are short workers. There is no excuse for bringing the wrong food. When I pointed out the fact that she brought chicken and not steak the waitress said sorry I'll take it back. I said I didn't have time for that I would have to eat it. All she said was okay I expected her to at least tell a manager of the mistake buy nothing. The service was inexcusable. She brought me a cup of tea no sweetener. We had our food before I had my tea. After her mistake she avoided the table until we asked for the bill. Yes we had to flag her down and ask. Not sure we will revisit this location. read more

This is our go-to place for a quick, good dinner when we don't have anything to eat at home, or don't want to cook. We usually stick to the same meals but they change their menu's wayyyyy to often. I have been a loyal Applebees customer at this location since they opened in Gibsonia. I have ordered on line a few times but usually went inside the restaurant at least one a week until Covid. Today I called as was not home and wanted to place a quick order. I was hung up on twice when someone picked up the phone and immediately hung it up. The third try I was asked to enter a code, not sure what code that meant, then on the fourth try hung up on again. Lucky number five someone picked up and said "I am going to place you on hold" I asked why and they said "I am in the office and need to go out to the area for orders." After holding for five minutes my husband used his phone to call and so done picked up he explained I was on hold and would someone please pick up. The person on the other line nastily said there is no one hold on my side of it and hung up on him. At that point we both put down our phones and laughed. Our dinner at the Hardwood Grill was fantastic and the outdoor seating was lovely. This is a sad decline of what was once a very nice restaurant with great service. I know I could have walked around the entire perimeter of the restaurant with the time I held for the person who was going to help.me and I am having knee surgery next week. Applebee's is an outstanding restaurant. I go a lot of the time and I have not had one bad experience yet. I usually get one of the Neighborhood burgers. They are very high-quality and cooked and seasoned well. I would really recommend Applebee's. read more

Happy hour was not that great! They substituted club soda for sour mix. Ruined the drinks and thank goodness we had an amazing server!! Joel wanted to go above and beyond for us!! Typically Applebees is a safe, generic choice for a simple meal when you're hungry. Their brand of American food can be a nice filler when food quality and taste are only secondary to your hunger. I'd say that for lack of a truly tasty meal, the one redeeming quality is (usually) the service. However, this was definitely not the case for the Gibsonia store. Upon arriving we were greeted in a friendly manner by two lovely hostesses who showed us to our table and gave us our menus. It pretty much all went downhill from there. After a few minutes, our waiter came by and without introducing himself, asked us what we'd like to drink. He looked confused and his speech sounded as if he were mumbling, but we thought nothing of it. He quickly brought us our drinks and we placed our orders which consisted of two salads and two appetizers we were going to share as our meal. The one thing we did ask was that the salads be brought out at the same time as the rest of our food (which is not usually a problem.). Several minutes later, one of the food runners brought us one salad. When we informed her that we had in fact ordered two salads to be brought with our food, she went back to let the waiter know about his error. Minutes and minutes passed by and eventually we were brought salad #2 (still no food by the way.) Several more minutes passed by and I was starting to suspect that our waiter wasn't just confused or uncomfortable - he was high! The guy was slurring his speech and was so glassy eyed that he couldn't even focus. He alternated staring at his notebook and the computer screens for well over 10 minutes as if he were trying to decipher some ancient hieroglyphics. Finally, after I'd had enough I summoned a manager to our table and explained to him that there was something wrong with his waiter. I told him about or food situation and the fact that over 1/2 an hour had passed with no sign of our two appetizers. The manager half-hardheartedly apologized and made an excuse that his waiter had an ear infection, was being sent home and promised our food would be right out. Fifteen minutes later, the waiter was STILL standing at the computer looking confused and we STILL had no food. After almost an hour of dealing with wretched service, we finally decided enough was enough and left. Wendy's was pretty good though. read more

Overall, I'm pleased with this location. The staff is friendly and aims to please. They have take out service and you can call ahead to make a reservation no matter how many (or little) people you have so you don't have to wait in line! The food is good and they make every attempt to meet your needs and or dietary requirements. My only complaint is the placement of the tables. I always try to get a booth because the tables are placed very close to each other and you usually end up bumping chairs with the person behind you. Other than that, Applebees's is a great place to go both for food or drinks. read more

I was here with a friend for lunch. Our servers name was will. We got here at around 12:15. We waited a few minutes to actually have him introduce himself. Then proceeded to take 10 minutes to get our drinks. Then another 10 to even get our orders taken. He wasn't very friendly. Seemed very grumpy. When our food finally came it was almost 12:45. My kids love the place, and we always try to get Vanessa to wait on us if she's available - she's absolutely the best! Great place to go for good food with the family! Always go to Applebee's for the good specials at home in Minnesota, so it was highly disappointing to visit this location. We waited for happy hour which I thought to restaurants meant good deals for their consumers on normally sized items, but to this location or maybe all Pennsylvania locations happy hour only means prorated meals for a prorated over price. Well that's not why I came to Applebee's for happy hour. It is however the reason I will not return. I didn't bother complaining to management because I don't want a gift card to come back. Just visited this Applebee's the other day and I have to say that they did not disappoint! The new menu is good, but the portion size is small compared to what it used to be, especially the spinach and artichoke dish. But when we addressed this to the manager, Rachel, she helped us out and got us some more chips. Her and our server, Kelly were very attentive throughout our meal there and I never felt more welcome at a restaurant. My family and I will definitely be back to visit and try the new dishes that they have to offer. read more
