Enjoyed a day out with family at this restaurant. The staff was so friendly from beginning to end. I originally wanted to try the OM Cheeseburger but changed my mind. I went with the appetizer platter. It had a variety of appetizers.....mozzarella sticks, chicken quesadilla, boneless chicken, and artichoke dip. Everything was really good. The good is we received our meal which looked phenomenal. The taste is a different story. Not saying it was bad nor good. The presentation was all there. The waiter was really nice once the waiter got to our food. So the service was okay once it was there. I even forgot my phone and they brought it to me right before we left so that was really nice. The Bad We were seated promptly after, I guess not so promptly, but after putting our name on the wait list and waiting about 25 minutes or so, we were seated in a booth surrounding other tables who were being actively waited on. I watched the waiters speaking and laughing and joking with other tables around us while we sat with our baby. My husband and I, I mean just we, sat together and did the entire word search and all the other games on the kids menu before even being greeted by a server. We finished all the games on the menu without a server greeting us still or getting us water or anything to the point where a table got sat right behind us and within less than a minute a server was at their table taking their drink orders. So I decided to turn to her and let her know that nobody has greeted us and she was kind of nonchalant about her response, but she said, oh I'm sorry about that, I can help you out. So it was clear that she wasn't supposed to be our server, we must have been in a different server section, but she did help us out which was really nice and she ended up being our server the rest of the time. We think we saw our real server come up with silverware like 20 minutes after we had already been seated and then she looked all confused and then we saw her walk away looking all confused as to why another server took her table. Well maybe she shouldn't have taken 20 minutes to get to us. The food was pretty bland compared to what we're used to eating, but the fries were pretty good. That's all the bad. read more

Its dark wood and window coverings and tables, chairs, seem old and in need of a good steam clean. Food prep has always been a joke for chains. Talk of microwaves and such to meet the demand. Our kids seem to like it. It was their choice this visit. The oriental chicken salad was not as I remembered. It was laden with too much dressing. It used to be the freshest salad on the menu. Highly disappointed at the substandard service and lack of communication from servers at Fuquay Applebee's today. My husband and I arrived about 1:10pm, We did not order anything complicated, just standard lunch menu items. Took about 15 minutes to get drinks (water and lemonade). We ordered food and waited until 2:10pm with no communication or follow up of food status. I went to the edge of the kitchen and called out. A waitress came to the entrance chewing and seemed surprised when I handed her $4 cash and said we were leaving. We definitely will not be returning to this location. We're from Atlanta where somewhere is always open, so we headed out around 8:30 one night and everyone was either already closed or too close to closing time and we didn't want to be rude by walking in so late. The server was rather nice and super cool and took ten bucks off. She asked if I wanted another steak, but I wasn't trying to stay there going into rush hour, so no. While out running errands yesterday afternoon, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to stop into Applebee's for lunch. They are taking excellent COVID precautions; employees are wearing masks and gloves, tables are sanitized between guests, social distancing is enforced, and menus are disposable. I ordered the $5 monthly drink special - The shark bite margarita, and it was surprisingly good. Then I ordered the grilled chicken Tex-Mex bowl entree and it was delicious! The marinade on the chicken was very flavorful! It was like a grilled chicken taco salad with rice. I will definitely order it again. Also, my waiter, James, was the best! I stopped going to our local Applebee's but the Fuquay Varina location, really knows their stuff. My Quesadilla Burger was fantastic! A warm/grilled tortilla held a cooked to order burger, 2 pcs of pepper jack, crispy bacon, mexi ranch and shredded lettuce. Talk about a drippy taste sensation!! The fries and ranch were also good and the service was great! My sister got the chicken fingers. To me they looked like freezer fingers. I haven't been to this location in awhile and now I know why...I order soup and a dinner. My dinner came out first then 30 min later my soup came out and it was cold. I told the waiter my soup was already jelled and cold. He said no worries I will take it back and make you a new one. Then 5 min later I got my "fresh" soup. Many in our friends reject Applebee's but my wife and I enjoy it. Very reasonable pricing considering the inflation issues. The one here in F-V needs updating and new carpet. But our experience has been overall good. Sometimes they are understaffed and service can be spotty but nothing to complain about. So, first of all, I'm glad they're open and able to serve people during this pandemic. Even though the place looked empty, we still had about a 5-10 min wait (which we got to spend in our car - they text you when it's time to come in). Came because the recent commercials for their bowls looked enticing (narrator voice: "but enticing it was not.") Appetizer (mozzarella sticks) were surprisingly better than expected, my wife's cheesy chicken thing was great, however my bowl (with steak and shrimp) was not. Really bland. The honey bbq sauce is not applied too aggresively and makes this sandwich uniquec and delicious. Ordered an extra side of Garlic mash add cheese because it is a must have in my book. French onion soup was awesome with lots of croutons and gooey cheese but not a lot of broth which was extremely heartbreaking! At first I thought it may have spilled but it didn't!! Paid extra for this soup so felt a bit ripped off. **Beware if you have a food allergy!** This is probably one of THE WORST experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. I went here with my son and grandson for lunch on a recent Monday during a family visit. The waitress acted as though it was a chore to actually do her job. My grandson (age 3) tried several times to talk to her, but the sour-faced woman completely ignored him. Fine. Maybe she doesn't like kids. I explained that I have a wheat allergy (Celiac disease) and needed some information on the ingredients. After receiving another dirty look, she assured me that the grilled chicken salad and tortilla soup had no wheat, and specifically added that she'd make sure there were no croutons on the salad. I thanked her very politely. The food took forever to come out, even though the place was pretty empty. I had to ask twice for eating utensils. What kind of waitress brings out food but doesn't make sure you have something to actually eat it with? The soup looked nothing like the menu photo (no tortilla strips, and a gloppy mess). I took a few bites of the salad and found croutons buried beneath the lettuce. Seriously? You remove the wheat-free tortilla strips, but leave the croutons? I told the waitress and all she said was "okay". No apology, no offer of a replacement. She continued on her grouchy way. I called her back and asked for the manager. I could see the two of them laughing and gesturing, until the manager sauntered over to our table. He assured me that they "take food allergies very seriously". You could have fooled me. Then he said, "She probably just reversed it by removing the tortilla strips and leaving the croutons." Like it was no big deal. Honestly, the fact that the croutons were buried under the lettuce makes me a tad suspicious in the first place. Manager: please educate yourself AND your staff on food allergies before some unsuspecting consumer ends up in the hospital due to your negligence. There were ZERO food allergy mentions on the menu. I like this location. They are always friendly, and the food always comes out timely and tastes as you'd expect from Applebee's. I like their pick-a-pair combo for $20 and they have these desserts in a shot glass that are just the right size. This Applebee's also has nice sized dinner salads. For a while, they were serving little ones, but then they're back to serving salads that are a good size for the extra money. I've never had a bad experience here and have always enjoyed the food and the great service with a smile. read more

These are my thoughts and observations. - Our server was friendly and attentive, but forgetful. - I would recommend the 2 for $20 meal. - We waited 20 minutes for our food. - My chicken tenders were decent, but the fries and artichoke dip were meh. - The portion sizes were on point. How they could even send that out shows no care in food quality .My husband had a burger which was overcooked and cold as well the fries .My daughter had the four cheese pasta dish which she said didn't taste good ..And my son in law had a rib platter that was cold as well. My husband and I went to this location last night. Even with the wait being 30 minutes it was worth it. We definitely saw that this place was understaffed, but everyone working was calm and cool. We haven't eaten inside a restaurant many times since places have reopened due to seeing workers stressed out and customers not being understanding. Thankfully management had sections inside closed off due to the staffing. Once we were seated our waitress was very nice and was pretty fast at getting our drinks. The appetizers we ordered came out within 10 minutes after ordered. The kitchen timed out the appetizer and entrees out perfectly. The pasta and chicken / shrimps meals were very good. I'm a pretty picky person and it takes a lot for me to give a good rating. We will be back next weekend! read more
