We've ordered take out orders here since the start of the pandemic, and the orders are never ready at the time I've selected. Tonight was the worst. And we ordered almost 90 minutes in advance. The first employee couldn't find the order and didn't exactly seem "on it" (got my name wrong twice, even after asking the second time) so I asked a second employee to check. I got the order, again late, and then drove several miles home. That's when we found the desserts were missing. The melting ice cream was there (we thought it was butter in the little containers), but no brownies!!! Hope whoever got our brownies enjoyed them. It was not worth the traffic and gas to drive back to the restaurant. I always tip well (20%, before I even got our meals or know how the service will be), so my tip to Covington Applebee's is this: get it right. We will go out of our way to drive past on our way to Kent for our next Applebee's order. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place. Some of the issues are corporate but others are local management. I decided to eat there for lunch just after 11:00am. They had about six people in the restaurant so I ate at the bar. When you look over the menu, you'll see that it's extremely difficult to eat anything healthy. Even their so called healthy/lighter fare salad has corn or Caesar dressing. I don't remember finding one food item that wasn't packed with carbs! They even have double crunch wings. Seriously! Let's pack on double the breading. No one will figure out that there isn't much meat. My vegetables were fine but the chicken was obviously frozen before it was cooked. It was what I call "Applebee's Rubbery" due to be frozen (maybe too long). A couple came in and sat at the bar then another guy came in and sat nearby. All three were obviously regulars. The bartender was nice but she spent most of her time catering to the regulars. They were loud and one was pretty obnoxious. The bartender made their drinks without them asking, which was cool for her to remember but I'm guessing they are long time regulars. They acted like it was their bar and carried on like they were at home in their own living rooms. One appeared to be intoxicated before he arrived so he repeated every story that he yelled out. I couldn't wait to leave. Any bar trying to make a profit knows that you have to continually bring in new business or it will eventually fail. You must control the regulars or ask them to move along. They are keeping new customers away. They aren't the lifeblood of a bar, they will kill it. read more

Went here for lunch with my book club. The server was attentive and welcoming. Food was a bit slow coming out but we were busy talking so it was not a bother. I had the lunch combo of the Chinese Chicken salad with tomato basil soup. The salad was very good and was a good lunch size portion. The soup tasted like bottled Marinara sauce. It was very thick and had chucks of vegetables in it. The taste was way too strong for tomato basil soup. My friend said her chicken apple salad was rather tasteless. I may go back since the location is good for our book club members, the menu is extensive and prices are quite reasonable. But I will order something that I know to be tried and true, like their rib basket or double crunch shrimp. read more

Went for a quick family dinner, arriving at 6:15pm on a Sunday night. Seated in about 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad since the place was fairly busy. After being seated, it took 10 minutes to get service for drinks. 30 minutes later, we were told by our waitress that our order ticket was lost...hmmm...we hadn't even been asked for our order yet. Orders placed. 30 more minutes later for our appetizer. Another 30 minutes later, with not seeing our waitress, we were approached by the manager. We were told AGAIN that our ticket was "lost" and the ticket would need to be refired. 15 minutes later, our food was delivered. Applebee's Restaurants all seem to have gone downhill over the years. Last Saturday, we stopped by as my husband hadn't eaten yet, and he likes the restaurant. He forgot what horrible service we have gotten before. We were seated promptly in the bar and placed our order via tabletop ordering. My husband decided to get fish and chips and let the bartender know to change the order. I ordered soup and a small salad. 30 minutes later, there was no sign of any food, and the restaurant was getting busy. My husband finally decided, after several prompts from me, to let me go to bartender to find out where our food was. The bartender went back and came out with my food. Husband's food wasn't ready yet. The excuse used was that there was only one person plating the food. That was enough for us to get up and walk out. We offered to pay for our sodas, but the bartender told us that wasn't necessary. As I indicated, Applebee's has gone downhill, and we certainly know not to patronize a business that has proven (yet again) that we are not welcome. read more

This was very very disappointing, the server gal was sooooo slow and it wasnt even crowded. My riblet combo was awful. These are the flat short ribs with lots of bone and very little meat.And what a mess! These ribs are drenched in bbq sauce while tasty was way too much sauce Horrible, add to that you must eat the ribs the you have to order the shrimp, finish the 6 of those , and then you can get the chicken strips! Once you've been to one Applebee's, you've been to them all. This one was no different. We were seated super quick, and the hostess that sat us was incredibly awkward. She looked like it might be her first job on her first day, so I'll give her a break. Our actual server was pretty cool - I forget his name, but he was incredibly animated and upbeat our whole time there. FOOD AND DRINK Ordered Bourbon black and bleu burger with mayo and no pink; and raspberry iced tea. Burger was perfectly cooked (see my photo). Fries were seasoned just right. My iced tea was so-so. I wish they would add a little bit more raspberry syrup or whatever they use to flavor the iced tea. SERVICE My waitress was friendly, but she tends to enjoy talking to her coworkers more than to check on her customers. After she delivered my food, she never came back to check on my food or my drink. I would have understood if she was busy with other customers, but there were not a lot of customers. She was chatting with her coworkers and helping them roll utensils in napkins on the other side of the bar area. Meanwhile, here I was having to eat and finish my burger with an empty drink. Not cool! When she finally came to my table (after I was done eating several minutes later), she did offer and got me a refill. It would have been better if I had my refill while I was eating and not afterwards. MISC Free wifi. In the bar area, the tables on the left side has access to power outlets. I thought that was a good idea. CONCLUSION I gave three stars for food, free wifi and available power outlets. I ordered Mac n cheese and a side of fries on Doordash. The biggest surprise to me is that the food is not sealed before handing it over to the delivery person. I have no way of knowing if the food has been tampered with before delivering it to me. I called to complain and they were not very accommodating except to say there is nothing they can do. Had dinner here tonight with my family. It was one of the worst dine out experiences I've ever had. After waiting over an hour for our food the only thing hot and edible was the entree of one dish. The rest was cold! The burger meat was cold and the bun was like a rock. The children's food was stone cold. The fries were cold. My party of 6 was sat at a table at 4pm on a Sunday. There were several employees walking around, 3 or 4 engulfed in conversation with the bartender at the rail. Terrible service this is not the first time at this location that I've placed an order been told a time to come and then you get there and no one ever comes even though you called to tell them you were there, it still takes another 15 minutes to come to the car what is the point of having car side to go if no one acknowledges your out there. This was our first visit to any Applebee's, ever. I must say it was a very pleasant experience. As usual, we went early, around 4 PM on a Thursday. The restaurant wasn't busy. Our server was Cherie and since things were rather quiet she was able to attend to us easily but not too often, so her timing was just right. We went to Applebee's to try out their Weight Watchers menu items. By the way, you might think that the portions would be unusually small but that was not the case. However, if you are eager for a 16oz steak than my dinner was under weight. We started out with Onion Soup au Gratin. This was very good. It rated a 4 out of 5. As main courses, we had the Garlic Herb Chicken and the Steak with Portobellos. I am the portobello fan, so that was my entree. Here is where the steak size mattered, it was only 4 ounces. It was cooked exactly as requested and surprisingly was more than enough after the onion soup. The garlic herb chicken was a larger portion and my wife was not able to finish her entire entree. Both entrees came with ample portions of steamed broccoli and herbed potatoes. Each entree gets 4 out of 5. They dropped down 1 because the chicken could have been a bit more "herby" and the sauce on the steak could have been a little less salty. We consider these very minor issues. We finished off the meal with coffee and the chocolate raspberry layer cake. The cake had been taken off the main menu, but our waitress discovered that it was still available. Speaking of our waitress, she was very, very good. As mentioned earlier she attended to our needs and several moments reminded us of Roy's in Hawaii, where she came by and cleared away empty sweetener packets, filled glasses, etc. with the stealth of an experienced server. Earning positive points with each visit to our table. She gets a 5 out of 5. The atmosphere was quiet and the decor is sports themed. The seating area surrounds the bar and each are open to the other, so that if the bar was crowded, the noise level might be an issue. However, it was not a problem with our visit. There is sports memorabilia literally everywhere along with numerous TVs strategically placed so that everyone has a clear view. This isn't important to us and they were not distracting. Cost was very reasonable and we will definitely return. Update: I forgot to mention that the music at this Applebee's was just right for us, a mix of new and old. For folks using Weight Watchers, Applebee's listed all the nutritional values for their menu items. This makes it easy to make good choices and be a bit more adventurous when reaching the dreaded dessert menu. read more

One of my favorite places in the area to come with friends. The happy hour deals are unbeatable. There is no where else in town I can get two decent sized appetizers and two drinks for under $20. The staff here is great too. They treat us well, welcome us back, remember our orders, and we always have a good time with them! The food is great too. Ordered car side and the gentleman was really nice but the food portions were tiny. I even asked "is this it?..." and he said that it is put in a smaller container but that it is a good amount once at home. Late night munchies. Opted for the 2 for $20 and got the sirloin. Good thing I ordered it med-well because it came out Med. From other reviews it seems that they tend to under cook the steaks. FOr a place that is not a steak house I would err on the side of having the meat cooked therefore order it a grade more done than normal. The veggies were quick steamed so just fyi if you like your veggies soft they are not. All in all it was a good meal for the price. read more

One positive about Applebee's is the prices are fairly reasonable. I'd say if you're out for a late night snack and a cold beer it might be worthy of visiting but I'm not impressed with the food. Applebee's pay at the table machine states specifically that the "tip is calculated based on total before tax." It clearly isn't. I spoke to the manager a month ago about the issue and he was surprised and didn't know that, but he'd make sure the issue was addressed. It wasn't. I'm back again and it's still incorrect. The food is very consistant in quanity and quality. The wait staff is overwelmed sometimes so they can be a bit slow to take your order/serve you from time to time. Staff is usually good and the food is usually bad. They don't seem to buy their food locally, it rarely tastes fresh. Last time I was there, I had one of the 600 calorie dishes - Lime chicken fiasco...er, fiesta? It tasted like a frozen Jenny Craig dish from the microwave, and for $10.
