This past Monday, my boyfriend and I visited an Applebee's location we hadn't been to before. We're regulars at Applebee's and usually have a great experience, so we were surprised by how things went this time. We placed our drink and food orders within about 15 minutes of being seated. After our meals were brought out, our waitress never returned to check on us--not once. She walked past our table multiple times, checking on other guests and asking if they needed anything, but never once acknowledged us. We waited for about an hour and a half before she finally came over and we could ask for a box and to speak with a manager. When she came back with the box we had to again ask for a manager since she walked away as we were still speaking to her the first time. We had planned on ordering dessert to-go, but unfortunately, that option isn't available through the table's mini kiosk. We would have asked another server, but several of them were seated nearby, seemingly on break and eating together, so there was no one else available to assist us. When we finally spoke with the manager, he was very apologetic and acknowledged that the restaurant wasn't busy, so there was really no reason for the lack of service. We were given a $10 gift card as an apology, but wrote the expiration date as the day we were there, which felt a little disheartening and rude as there was nothing done at all. read more

However, really annoying when you have advertise a specific drink that you have on special this month and you come back to the table and say I'm sorry we didn't get in the alcohol for that drink. Would you like to replace it with something else, you go on happy hour menu and you pick out a five dollar drink to replace it with. When you get the bill, the drink is 950 because they said you didn't put in your order to 610. You asked me to replace a drink I picked another five dollar happy hour drink. The other one was not a happy hour. It was your special don't you think you should've given it to me for five dollars? So my title for this would be annoyed. read more

I have to post what an amazing experience I just had at the bar with Bri and Ana L and pretty much the whole team Thursday night from 9:00pm-10:00pm. They went out of their way for me for really no reason except the fact that you can tell they really love their job and are actual professionals. I ordered the blue Hawaiian drink with Tito's and it was made special for me because I'm annoying and that was no issue and was delicious. I ordered the sampler platter and the Asian chicken salad and it came out delicious and in good timing. Honestly my favorite part of tonight was watching how good this team got along and actually liked each other. To be able to watch that gives you a good feeling and good vibe to eat around as well. I also MUST add that Manahawkin Applebees has refused to make my chocolate milkshake and that they had NO problem doint it ( he he he ) and covered the charge because of how upsetting this was to me But in all serious I really enjoyed my experience and whatever they are doing here , other Applebees should be copying them because it's amazing and actually made me miss being in the industry ‍ I would absolutely come back here just to visit these people and good atmosphere again !! read more

Wanted to try the new Cheetos wings so I stopped in with a friend. We had to wait almost a half hour when the restaurant was a little less than half full. We didn't mind waiting because I'm sure they might have been short staffed, and we also just shopped around in a few nearby stores. The wings were great, even better than I expected! I also got the pretzels which came out super hot and delicious. I also got a frozen strawberry lemonade which was amazing. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Tried stopping in for a quick late bite with my boyfriend. We got there at about 1045 when they close at 12. First off half the tables were not being used and they said a 15 minute wait. The host offered us to wait at the bar which we wanted to get a drink in the meantime. No bartender and no service for over 15 minutes waiting at an empty bar. We tried getting the manager attention but he would make eye contact and then quickly turn the other way. We ended up walking out and going somewhere else. Kind of confused why no one would help us. went to Applebee's for the first time in a year a week ago and was not too disappointed. we waited for about 30-35 minutes which is around normal when you go out on a Saturday night. social distancing is very well enforced. i like the virtual menu that you scan onto your phone. the only problem i give it 3 stars instead of 5 is because they have very limited vegan options. i ended up having to get the oriental salad with no chicken which is what i accept whenever i go out to a restaurant. but it is quite frustrating them not catering to all food types. i feel all bigger chain restaurants should have food options for every type of dietary need. it's weird how mostly mom and pop restaurants will have vegan options and small chains won't. but the food did come pretty fast. and it did taste good. read more

I stopped going to this Applebee's after the manager threatened to kick us out for ordering from thier half price menu. It was 9:55pm and some of my friends at our table only ordered beers/drinks and told our waitress they were waiting to order half price appetizers at 10pm. At least half of the table had already ordered regular meals, as well. The manager then came over to the table and said he was going to make us leave and we were not allowed to wait 5 minutes for appetizers. As a class we always go to Applebees after class we've had Rebeca B in the past and she was fantastic but after today I will not be coming back here. The server was extremely rude and had no hospitality skills what so ever neither did the bar tender. We asked for the first round of drinks which we've all been getting dollartias for the past month so we know how they taste and they were all mixer we asked for new drinks and they again still had all mixer and not even a drop of liquor so we asked for the manger she took all the drinks off but as we were leaving the bartender wanted to tell us YEA BYEEEEEE LEAVEEEEEE and i proceeded to give her a lesson in hospitality since she didn't know how to and the manger asked if I didn't talk to her servers like that so I said you should tell your server to not ask if I want to get up and tell the bartender she's trash so either get new management or get rid of that Applebees because never had an experience like this. Pretty decent depending on the meal you choose. My boyfriend and I have come a couple of times and shared the 2 for $20 special. You can't go wrong with an appetizer and two full size meals. We got the spinach and artichoke dip and chips appetizer which was delicious, as always. I got the dollar margarita on special - there was a fair amount of alcohol in it but the drink was overpoweringly sweet. Our meals were the oriental chicken salad and the chicken tenders platter. I hate to leave a bad review for any business but when I spend $60 on takeout, I except things to be correct. My meal was supposed to come with dressing which I actually wanted extra but Uber eats didn't allow me to type in the notes so I settled with the one. It didn't come with the meal. When I called to question the girl was very short with me and told me that it doesn't come with dressing (the website says different). The second thing I didn't like is the ketchup packets thrown on top of the Fries. Even pre-Covid this just isn't a good look. I don't want my packets, that someone grabbed with their hands, thrown on my food. (The women said this is standard policy and they use gloves to put the packets on the food) So after waiting an hour for delivery my husband just ran back to the store to get the dressing that he was craving all night to go with his meal. Last night I went to the brick Applebee's , my waitress was the only good part of my visit. I ordered the blackened salmon with mashed and broccoli. The salmon was dried out, the mashed potatoes were crusty , the broccoli was cold. My son order a cheeseburger was cooked to well. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger to go and the lettuce was brown. I used to love this Applebees but it has definitely gone downhill. Every time I order to go our order has gotten messed up somehow. Most of the time it's not a big deal because it was something small like there was less food than we thought there would be or it wasn't hot enough which all depends on perspective and when we pick up the order so no big deal. Tonight was different. Tonight I ordered two steaks for my husband and I. His was plain medium rare and mine was the shrimp n' parm medium. He picked it up and got home and low and behold my steak is rarer than ever and there were no shrimp and parm to be seen. Also the "baked potato with butter" came with no butter. My wife and I asked our 9 year old where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner, obviously she chose Applebee's as it is her favorite place to eat. Upon arrival we were greeted, if you can honestly call it a greeting, by a smileless, hostess who completely lacked personality and looked as if she hated her job. I informed her it was my daughters birthday and not even a "Happy Birthday " was uttered in my child's direction. To top it off, the walk to our table was similar to that of a funeral procession, again, not even a "Enjoy your Meal" was uttered. As I sat down I placed my arm upon the table and my forearm was instantly covered in what seemed to be some type of oil from the previous patrons meal, I informed the hostess to which she replied that the table was wiped down and maybe still wet, even so, that is still gross. Our waitress, who like the hostess, totally lacked personality and was not likable by any means, when we asked for drink refills it was as if we bothered her, when she placed our utensils and plates it was done with what can only be classified as contempt. Maybe she hates her job, or was having a bad day, not personally my problem or my family's, but the air was stale and the discontent for her job was palpable. My eldest daughter ordered a Dr Pepper which was extremely watered down, unable to find my waitress, which was weird being that the place was not packed, I approached the bar for an exchange of the beverage and a manager took the glass and said the waitress will bring us a new drink, all while he was standing there more into the Brazilian women's team at the Olympics, seriously standing there watching the TV. As if he was paid to do so. All in all the experience was not great, in fact if there were a more Vivid word for it I would be using it bitterly and repeatedly. This is not the experience we wanted to have on our daughters birthday, even when it came time for the free "Birthday Shooter" we were met with no friendliness or smile. I honestly don't know what is wrong with people these days, when working in an environment in which personality and demeanor count, I'm amazed that our waitress even passed the training offered by Applebee's. Needless to say, and as sad as it is, I would rather take the additional 20 minutes and drive the opposite direction to another Applebee's just to avoid the realm of a possibility of getting this "Waitress or Hostess " ever again. read more

We really like the Applebee's in our area, Ocean and Monmouth Counties. They're clean, friendly, and have good food! However, we were sad to find out that fajitas have been removed from the menu. It was a favorite item for sure! We have tried other restaurants fajitas and they just aren't that impressive! I would like to point out that the Applebee's in fact still have components to make fajitas. There is definitely still steak, chicken and shrimp on the menu for other entrées. There must still be tortillas also, since the chicken fajita rollup is still on the menu. In conclusion, it would be great to see fajitas be brought back to the menu, as we just can't find any good ones in our area. read more
