I've been enjoying Applebee's half price appetizers for many years. This evening walked in to Applebee's here in Knoxville ready to enjoy my favorite boneless wings. So I sit at the Bar and and proceed to order and the Bartender says we aren't serving half price appetizers yet so I look at my watch and its still a few minutes before nine. So i tell her ill just wait She give me this look like really thats what you came here for "What would you like to drink?"she asks. I tell her I just start off with some water. I'm an Airline pilot and its against The FAA regulations to have anything to drink within a certain period before my next flight. She proceeds to tell me that Well to get that special you have to buy a drink. Her entire attitude was pretentious are unprofessional. read more

This was my second or third time to this Applebee's. We hadn't been back in over a year until now. I was not impressed in the least and had a bad experience last time with service amongst everything else. This time was so different from the moment we pulled up. We saw a couple of reserved parking and I figured it was take-out parking or something. It said, "US Veterans Reserved Parking" WOW.... that is great! The manager greeted us at the front and seated us. He was friendly and it was a great welcome. The server took a bit longer than expected to get to the table, however, she was friendly and upbeat. We ordered appetizers and an entree and one of the appetizers didn't taste right. They took care of it and gave me a new one immediately. They didn't ask what I wanted, but made suggestions and made it right immediately. Her pleasant personality and quick to fill our drinks often topped the great service and food all around. The only suggestion would be to turn down the music some. I don't know if it is a new manager, but definitely changes have been made for the good. I'll go back if I'm in the area again. read more

2.5 stars out of 5. Wanted to like it but service was slow, appetizer chips were few and greasy, chicken on my salad was supposed to be hot but arrived cold. Salad itself could have been much better; lettuce, egg, cold fried chicken and very little cheese didn't cut it for me. Waitress offered to replace salad but we had waited long enough for this one. I kept waiting for my water to be refilled and when it finally was, there was no ice. Tables were cleared and visiting went on while we waited to be served. Maybe that is why my chicken was cold! Great service even tho some of our party was disruptive and rude. Sorry our waiter had to put up with that, but he did a fine job. However, the food sucked bad. It was so bad, the steaks reminded me of nasty Golden Corral steaks. I hope Applebee's doesn't take that as a compliment. With all the other places to choose from to eat, people are gonna soon stop eating here. Dang their food sucked. All of it. 7 of us, and everyone's food was crap. Just sayin, Applebee's. read more

I haven't been to an Applebee's in years, so I'm giving the one on Alcoa Hwy neat the airport a try. Just landed, hungry, let's eat. At 5pm, some appetizers are half price. I go for chips and queso blanco, and the Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp grill for dinner. The queso is presented as a dip, not melted cheese. Chips are home-fried, with every other one undercooked (hard). The main course arrives on a black iron skillet, far too hot to eat. As it cools, I watch the chicken become dry. It's hard to get this style of cooking just right; I recommended they remove it from the menu. I was able to salvage the chicken by putting the cheese dip over it and eat it with chips--the good ones anyway. read more

I am away on business and staying at hotel behind this restaurant. So against my better judgement I walked in. Being alone I sat at the bar. The bar tender was on a bad mood or at least looked it. After 5 minutes she asked for my drink order. I actually went to eat, so 5 minutes later I had to ask for a menu. 20 minutes later I left. Nothing but bad attitude and lousy service. Where do I begin?!? I went to Applebee's expecting a nice dinner after a long day at work. I had been to the same location in the past and it was great. This time, it seemed nothing went right. They sat me and my friend in the coldest part of the restaurant. Which was ok, I can handle the cold. The waitress "Julie" was really nice. I ordered the chicken broccoli pasta and a side salad. She asked if I wanted the salad out first and of course I did. About 10 minutes later our food shows up by another waitress. No side salad for me. Lol. The size of the chicken broccoli pasta was very small, and there was no bread. Julie soon returned and asked how everything was and I told her I didn't get the salad, she apologized and made sure it wasn't on the check. So I asked for some bread to go with my dinner. About 5 minutes later she returned again with a small plate and one piece of bread (I'm not kidding when I say it was the size of a cheese stick). I tried not to be a pain so I just ate my food. But I go to break the piece of bread and could not do it. No I'm not that weak or famished. It honestly was the hardest piece of bread I've ever been served. A friend of mine tried to cut it with his knife and it wouldn't even cut. At this point I was just wanting dinner over with. We did however have the triple chocolate meltdown for desert. This Applebees is the worst ive eaten at. My bourbon chicken and shrimp was so dry! I asked if it came with some kind of sauce and the waitress said no it doesnt. Ive never had it so dry like that. Then i ordered sweet potato fries instead of the red potatoes that come with it, someone got the bright idea of putting them on the hot skillet with my chicken so the ones on the bottom stuck to it and got burnt and the ones on top of it tasted charred as well. It smelled horrible. What got me was that i asked for some new ones and the waitress asked me to put the old ones on a plate as she stood there while i scraped burnt sweet potatoes fries off a cast iron skillet. Go next door to McDonald's. Better burgers there. If like old women hitting on you, or at the booth.. this is the place to be.

Been here a couple times and the serving sizes seemed to be a little skimpy. Which ordinarily I wouldn't mind as my fat butt could use less calories. However, when ya pay $12 for a salad make it bigger than an appetizer salad. Service was mediocre as well. BTW, taste of food was good. read more

We just enjoyed a memorable lunch experience with impeccable personal service by Jacinda. She helped with menu suggestions after promptly serving our drink order. Our meal was delivered hot and fresh and promptly. Jacinda was a delight and is a valuable asset to Applebee's. read more

Applebee's is good cheap restaurant quality food, they almost feel too cheap for the decent quality food & service you're given. However the menu isn't that robust and customer service is usually sub par. I always feel that customer service reflects the quality of food behind it, and the waiters here are often obstructed by the lack of quality foods they have to back up their customer service. That being said, if you're on a budget and need to entertain others, then Applebee's is the way to go. Their prices are great considering your getting restaurant quality food at near fast food prices. read more

I was nervous to eat here because of all the negative reviews about food poisoning so I went to Ruby Tuesdays...but they had their liquor license suspended for serving an underage cop (oops!). Anyway, wish I had eaten here. Instead only came in for a drink. The place was packed. Next time I stay in the area, I'll eat here without fear. read more

I am just gonna beg you to watch the reviews on yelp...I decided to go against my better judgement and not do this. Yes I am guilty and received my punishment. I ignored my fellow yelpers which have chose so many great places for me. Saying this I used to frequent Applebee's in New York so I figured be the same quality right? No this was a travesty French onion soup look like sludge. I said we would not eat that they replied and I quote "we melted a slice of cheese on top of it " really Applebee's you use to have standards. Finally the manager came with our food...when asked why it took so long and the food looked sickly his reply was I dunno??? I told him we will go elsewhere and we will pay for our drinks. He proceeded to walk the whole out side of the the restaurant for 10 minutes "mind you still holding our plates,putting them down " while we waited yet again just to return to ask us if we're sure. I said your the manager as my wife pointed out there were people that had been sat and never waited on for 15 minutes "he just looked at me no response and continued his rotation with our plates on hand" at this point I had already realized his eyes he was on something and we were quickly hurried out of the place by a lady saying our drinks were taken care of. I went to Applebee's tonight against what I read on yelp because a local friend wanted to have a drink there after work. The ratings on Yelp where not good. I was pleasantly suprised, the service was very good and the food was fine. We sat at the bar and Jeff the bar tender was most attentive. When I ordered food it was served expediently and was of good quantity and quality. I enjoyed it very much. It was happy hour and we had a good time. I told Jeff to ask his customers to go on Yelp and give good reviews. People will go out of their way when they are slightly unhappy, but will do nothing when satisfied. Not all chain restaurants are the same! We thought Applebee's was a safe bet seeing that dining establishments are extremely limited in this area. We should have known after waiting for the hostess for 7 minutes to even get seated, it was all downhill from there. It was not even busy. Our server was not very courteous or helpful. She acted as if it was painful to be working and serving, had zero interest or care. One of our orders was served wrong and by the time we could get it fixed we just had lost all interest in eating and being there. Asked for our check, took 15 minutes for that, and left without touching our meals. This is the worst Applebee's. Do not go here. read more

If you like microwave doodoo. You got it. Watered down trash never tasted so disgusting.

Beware Applebee's diners. On February 14, 2015, our high school sports team of 35 people ate dinner here. Fifteen (15) experienced moderate to severe, medically treated, food poisoning symptoms which was traced to the meals served at this Applebee's. Our group is especially appalled that the management and staff at the Applebee's accepts no responsibility for this incident. Two years ago at this same Applebee's, there were a few reported cases of food poisoning following meals eaten there but no connection was made at that time. This year it is clear that the restaurant has historical issues of poor hygiene and food sanitation. Please join our protest and avoid/boycott Applebee's for your our health and safety and for your support of bad business practices. read more

Awesome service! Our server was awesome and attentive. I was in visiting my sister and cleaning my mothers house to get ready to sell. We were tired and a horrible storm blew through.
