Was a regular customer until today but took over a hour for 1 steak 2 chicken tenders and a grilled cheese only 4 other tables filled not busy At all no excuse then manager had child following her around maybe 5 to 6 years old until her boyfriend or husband came in and got the child then the bar tender was holding another small child behind the bar around the same age since when did applebees turn into a daycare not very professional at all! Today we decided to give Applebee's in Albemarle North Carolina a second change. We arrived and waited to be seated. It was 11:45 am and there were three couples sitting in booths. There was no greeter by the door and no servers to be seen. A gentleman came out of the bathroom and shouted into the kitchen "Hey there's a couple out here waiting to be seated". Shortly afterward two servers came out with food for the people seated. They gave us a look but no greeting such as "We'll be with you shortly". We kept waiting as they went back into the kitchen. Food was ok, service was horrible! Several dirty sat uncleaned for 15 to 20 minutes while people waited for a table. Waitress wall right by table headed to kitchen and not take anything. SLOW getting food, never saw a manager. Won't be going back! read more

Have to start off saying the service was great! However the cooking not so much. I ordered the Bourbon St. Steak which typically has a very unique spicy flavor and this steak was completely bland. I even had to add salt which I never have to do to a restaurant steak. It was cooked to order. I also think think Applebee's cut back on portion while raising prices, which let's face it is happening everywhere, but I remember the meal coming with like half a slice of Texas type toast which was no longer there and kind of skimpy on the mushrooms as well. We came here tonight on a slow early Sunday evening. Even though it is a holiday weekend there were not many people there at all. We get seated pretty quickly and then we wait...and wait...and wait. We see numerous of staff walk right by us without any acknowledgement. Even a manager greeted a table beside us (who already had their food) and asked if they needed anything. Finally after about 10 minutes without someone coming by the table we catch someone walking by and ask where our waiter is. She gives us the excuse that our waiter has been double sat and she'll be with us as soon as possible. I see the people in the same section and they were sat after us and already had their drinks. We gave it a few more minutes before walking out making it a nice 15 minutes of us sitting there waiting to be helped. We won't be going back. read more

Staying at the Holiday Inn next to Applebee's and decided to walk across the lot. Applebee's is definitely a hit or miss across the country. I ordered the bourbon steak with potatoes & onions. One of my pet peeves is food sitting on the shelf and when served is not hot, but when this dish came out is was sizzling. The trick to eating a steak at Applebee's for me is to slice it thin. I ate every bite and it was hot to the very end and thoroughly enjoyable. Kudos to the waiter and cook staff as its 5 star with no complaints... great job as it's tough to be consistent..... read more

Honestly I wish I could chose to select no stars is how poorly my experience has been with this establishment not one but three times!!! First we had just moved to the area wanted something to pick up got home and they forgot all my toddlers food which then I had a very u happy little girl. Second time got to go again and they forgot our appetizers and again half of my daughters meals after stating several times everything was there. My husband went back to get what was left and wanted to speak with manger waited there for 15 and they never showed face. He left very upset! Now today we are all sick and desperate for food and again got to go and again half of the food was forgot. I understand my husband probably should have checked but they again stated EVERYTHING was there when he asked SEVERAL times. This place is a joke. Such poor service and management. I absolutely love the French onion soup and that penne pasta and most of the food is good but idk why but everytime I get a steak from here it doesn't taste right, the consistency is weird, the flavor seems good but it seems like cheap meat....other than that everything else is ok. Worst managed Applebee's in the country. Arrived with half the tables empty and it took 25 min. to be seated. Took 20 min. more to FLAG DOWN a waiter. Other people who arrived after us were already being served! Took another 40 min. to get the food. Food was OK but not really great. Can't say bad service, we did not get any service. Waited just over 10 minutes and never had anyone show up to seat us. It was not busy, less than half the restaurant was seated. Walked to the bar and asked if we were supposed tobseat ourselves. The frazzled bartender said yes, we will get you. So we sat at an empty table. It was empty, but food residue was all over it. Mine, never got a menu. Watched a couple employees standing toward the kitchen area chatting. So after waiting over 10 more minutes, only seeing 3 or 4 people doing anything, we decided to leave. I was staying in the Albemarle area for work and popped over to this Applebee's for lunch on Wednesday, May 20, given it was right by the Holiday Inn Express where I was staying. From the very sweet hostess to the efficient and friendly server to the manager who stopped at every table to check in, everyone was so kind. I don't know if it's just the way the South works, but the employees were so polite and helpful. It felt like eating with family. The food was usual Applebee's fare but was fresh, well-prepared and came out quickly. read more

Iv been here several times and as one reviewer stated the food is a little weird. There is reason for that, its all shipped in frozen and they heat it up they dont even cook it back there. Look i dont have a dog in this fight i dont work here nor have i ever nor do i know anyone who has. I know what your thinking , oh he had a bad experience, nope just dont like the place. Waited over an hour to be seated on a weeknight, took another 45 minutes to get our order, had to ask for silverwear, and the food was cold when we finally got it. We told the waiter one plate was not correct and inedible, but rather than asking if he could replace it with a hot dish, he insisted it was correctly made. After 10-15 minutes he finally offered to replace the dish. Will never eat here again. read more

My husband and I arrived around 2 pm today. We asked the lady that met us at the door if we could sit in the high tables around the bar. She said that we would have to wait 5 minutes. I asked if we could wait sitting at the high tables, all the high tables were empty. She said no, that the lady working that area would get mad at her if she sat us in that area. I explained to her that my husband has a very painful knee and it is hard for him to get up from the lower seats. She maintained that we would have to wait and that the lady that works that area would get mad at her if she sat us in that area. I asked to speak to management. She gave a little sigh looked over her shoulder towards the bar and told us to come with her, she would sit us. The lady that waited on us at the high table was cordial. went on Friday evening about 7:30. they were out of ribs ( One of the reasons for chosing this place was for the ribs), they did have the Riblets , but were told they were not doing the "all you can eat" on ribletts which the menu listed. Fair service but took two peoples orders way too long to come out, two people were half way thru meal before other two meals came out . small portions , made me think they was a broccoli shortage. read more

I'm giving this 1 star only because 0 isn't an option. We went here for my sister's graduation dinner. The waitress was nice, BUT the major problem was the food. Specifically the cooking of a steak. The steak was ordered medium. By definition- warm,pink center. When the steak arrived it was beyond over done. We sent the steak back and waited for the next one. The rest of us were finished with our food by the time the second steak came out. It easily was a 15 minute wait for the steak. The second steak, when it came out, was practically raw. How we waited 15 minutes for a raw steak is still confusing to me. The manager at this point does come over to check on us and says she will take care of the steak. The third steak arrives 10 minutes later and still is underdone (appearing as if microwaved), but at this point we accept the food. The manager never came back and discussed removing the meal from the bill, though after looking some deductions were noted. We cook steaks at home and have no trouble cooking them to proper inside temperature, and yes I'm very aware we could have just stayed home and cooked, but sometimes it's nice to go out and eat. Next time if the choice is to cook ourselves or go to Applebee's we will always choose cooking ourselves. read more
