I was horrified at the service I got from the Apple Bromley branch on a quiet Saturday evening (yesterday - 24/9/16) about one hour before the store closed.
I went to the store with the intention of asking for an introductory demo of the new iPhone 7 and the new additions compared to the iPhone 6, and if l felt it was suitable for me after the demo I was prepared to buy it on the same day.
On my arrival the store was quiet with more sales assistants than customers, the Genius Bar which is usually packed had 1 or 2 customers.
Since this is my local store I felt I would take the advantage of the store being quiet to enquire about the information I needed quickly and avoid waiting around for a long time.
As I entered the store , there were groups of 2 and some 3 employees discussing amongst themselves, nobody asked if they could help so I walked down the entire length of the store to the back where the Genius Bar is. Since the employee at Genius Bar was engaged with one customer, l retracted my steps and decided to interrupt the employees who seemed idle and had no customers they were attending to. Since the idle employees were talking, I stood at a prominent position where they could see a customer needed their attention but when this was not forthcoming after a couple of minutes, I had to interrupt saying I needed some help with the new iPhone 7. I particularly chose the employee with the iPad who I felt might have been the person in charge for that day. He said just go to the front of the store and talk to the assistants there and turned round and continued with his conversation with his colleague. He did not appoint any particular person to attend to me as I would have expected.
Anyway I retracted my steps moving towards the front of the store, the 1st set of 3 employees talking amongst themselves I encountered, did not acknowledge my presence even though I was in a prominent position where I could be seen clearly, being a tall person. It was not my intention to listen but being nearby I could hear their conversation and they seemed to be talking about social plans for the weekend. After a couple of minutes, the lady in the group said 'just a second' and then continued her conversation with her colleague for another minute then left. I told her colleague what I wanted and he also sign posted me to another set of colleagues at the front of the store. The colleague he sent me to was talking to a man who wore a similar coloured top to his , I interrupted them politely telling them what I wanted and the employee politely informed me he was already talking to his present customer. I quickly apologised and informed him I thought they both worked there because of the similar coloured T shirts.
I was back to square one with nobody to help. So I went back to the employee who had signposted me and still did not have a customer. I informed him how I had been sent from pillar to post and this was no way to treat a customer and again told him what I wanted, he was reluctant to move to the table with the iPhone 7 to show me the features I was enquiring about and was more keen on staying where he was to recite the features. I felt this was not good enough and poltely told him I would rather he showed me or demonstrated what he was talking about on the phone. He reluctantly moved to the table with the iPhone 7 meanwhile complaining and muttering 'there is a queue'. I replied telling him there is no queue at this moment in time and I had to come back to him because there was no one to help. He replied saying I was talking over him and being rude. I asked him what he meant by me being rude , he could not answer this question and said do you want this information or not in a condescending manner.
By this time I had had enough of this appalling customer service and told him this was no way to treat a customer and walked out of the store, not buying the iPhone 7 I intended to.
Unfortunately, I was so appalled with the service , I did not remember to ask for his name, but will definitely recognise him
Before Apple Bromley branch opened , I went to the branch at Bluewater they were so helpful and not arrogant like the Bromley branch, who portray poor customer service feeling because they have some technical knowledge they can talk to customers in a condescending manner.
The flagship at this Bromley store needs to change and be more organised and customer friendly , they do not show Apple as a company in good light.
It is unfortunate stars do not go lower than 1, if not I would have rated the appalling customer service as minus 5.
This is not the 1st time, I have heard others complain about the poor customer service at this branch.
I hope someone in charge of the Apple Businees reads this email replies to me and makes changes to stop this appalling arrogant service from this Bromley branch at the Glades. read more
