Came in, 3 employees were just standing there not paying attention at all. Someone did come in not too long but still obnoxious to have to stand awkwardly. The store is set up really nice and the store is extremely busy. If it wasn't for my husband needing to come in, I would avoid this place at all costs. I honestly havent liked Apple as a whole since iphones started being a thing. Their products are repetitive and not very unique in my opinion. That coupled with my social anxiety (so the crowds make me feel comfortable) I really dont like coming here at all. We did get fairly quick service and the employees are friendly so I dont feel comfortable giving a 1 or 2 star review. I have been an Apple guy for about twenty years now. I've been to Apple Stores and Genius Bars in several cities in different places I've lived or visited. The Genius Bar at this one is the worst by a mile. People living in this area probably have the impression that Apple is just this way, but in my experience, it's just this location. I have some defective airpods. You can't return them to the physical store without making a Genius Bar appointment. But at this place the appointment isn't really an appointment, I learned. I got there about ten minutes early. I checked in. I waited. When it was ten minutes after my appointment time I asked somebody if I was checked in correctly and on the list. They said yes, but there would be about another twenty minutes to wait. I was one of two customers at the bar at that time. I said, why do you offer appointments if they aren't really appointments? Why not just be honest with people and tell them the signup times don't really mean anything? The employee I spoke to told me that I should already understand it's busy on Sundays, and that they see people sequentially and don't know how long each appointment will take. I said I can understand that, but then why offer extremely specific appointment times at all? It seems deceptive. My appointment, for example, was at 2:10. She said I just didn't understand and should come in on a weekday instead. On leaving, I asked somebody at the front if there was another way to return the product than to have to sign up for an appointment and still wait 30 minutes or more after the appointment time. He said no, there is no other way (I don't even think that's true - I believe you can return them by post). I said, this is not the quality and effectiveness I'm used to from Apple. I buy from Apple so I don't have to deal with a place like Best Buy. He actually had the gall to say, "We may be more expensive, but Best Buy doesn't offer a premium product and experience like we do." Which is nuts because I didn't mention price as a factor, like at all. So I responded, "yes, I'm willing to pay more because I expect your service to be BETTER than Best Buy." He just seemed irritated with me and wanted to keep arguing. I'm also not used to that at all from Apple. I understand retail is a demanding and difficult job and people complain a lot over dumb things. I have worked retail. I get it. But I don't think my expectations here were unreasonable. Somebody could have admitted their operation wasn't as it should be on this particular day and just said, sorry about that. And, in fact, if they already feel that defensive and resistant right away, this tells me they have a pattern of dissatisfied customers and they're sensitive about it. I don't think I'll deal with the physical store again, at least for as long as I live in this location. There aren't any others around for a good long ways, sadly. read more

I asked him if I could FaceTime my son he said yes and once I did he denied him because he was in high school and said he had to be in college. Very very bad customer service! read more

Broken Screen Nightmare Broke my screen for the second time and decided to go to an Apple Store to fix it over a third party. The closest Apple Store near me is in south bend Indiana. I set up an appointment and double checked all the requirements before I left to make sure I was all set to go. When I arrived I was greeted by friendly Apple employees. They mentioned to me that it will be a two hour wait which is ridiculous for a cracked screen. I mentioned that I had my screen fixed by someone in the pass causing Apple to refuse to even touch my iPhone. Nothing on their website said that they would not work on it if a third party has touched it. He said it's In the warranty which most likely no one has ever read. This might be the last Apple product I buy. What a waste of my day and can't stand a staff unwilling to help someone out with an issue with their products. Apple is going down hill quick. read more

This review is based on four separate visits to either purchase or fix something. This is not a review of actual Apple products Visit #1: My 'sleep' button died on my iPhone 5 and I saw online that Apple has had issues with this and were offering to fix phones with certain serial numbers for free -- thankfully mine was included. This was in early November and I was up for an upgrade so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and get it fixed and trade up for an iPhone 6. We arrive 30 minutes before the store closes to be told a. the genius bar is not busy but that to fix your phone will take too long and they are closing soon. b. they cannot just take my old phone and sell me a new phone even though I told them I was just going to immediately trade the old phone in for a new one the second it was fixed. c. they said come back tomorrow -- Lame because it is about a 25 minute drive...needless to say I am super annoyed. Visit #2 (the next day): I drop off my iPhone and they once again refuse to trade it in for the new iPhone 6 (okay lame policy but whatever). They give me loaner and we leave. Visit #3 (one week later): They call me to tell me my phone is ready and we go to pick it up. We arrive and find that there isn't a line for the iPhone 6 (thank god) and I pick up my fixed phone and immediately trade it in for a new phone. This whole transaction took less than 15 minutes and the guy was SUPER nice unlike the previous interactions. But once again, why couldn't I just trade in my phone the first time??!?! They also didn't have the color I wanted in stock but I was so annoyed by the two previous visits and their inability to tell me when they will get the next shipment in I just settled for 'Silver' aka White. Visit #4: The phones camera kept crashing so I made an appt to the genius bar to get it fixed. They reset the settings but offered to fix the camera too. I said okay and wait 45 min to find out they didn't have the part so they offer me a new phone -- awesome. Oh wait, they don't have the phone in stock (typical). This time the manager is actually SUPER nice and says hell call me when the new phone arrives, which he does. In short the first two visits were TERRIBLE and they redeemed themselves with the last two. Overall, though the policies that Apple has instituted over the past 5-8 years since they became numero uno has eroded the value add of the Apple Store and Genius Bar making the buying and repair experience less than pleasant, especially for the premium price they charge on their devices. read more

I needed some help with my Apple laptop. I checked with their online services including making an appointment at the Genius Bar at this particular store. I was not able to make the appointment I needed so I called the Apple helpline. They suggested to me that I come down when the store opens to see if they would have any openings. I was met at the door by a security guard who, without even looking, told me that they were not accepting any walkins. When I asked him if he could help me with sending my computer to Apple he simply shook his head no. There were store workers behind him. The reason I'm writing this terrible review is for their attitude and lack of service. There was never an explanation just a chuckle and a shake of the head. You may not have the ability to go to a different Apple store depending on where you live, but if you can buy your Apple products at Best Buy or Walmart or even at Sam's Club I think you would get better service read more

Wanted to update that about a month after I wrote the initial review, at the suggestion of colleagues, I took the iPad to the Michigan Ave. Apple store in Chicago. Wow, what a difference! The staff there was friendly--and while I had to wait for a bit to see a "genius," there was someone there setting expectations. I told the guy that I saw about the experience in Indiana. He tried to be diplomatic about the other Apple employees, but told me that the ding in my iPad should not have caused the charging problem and that they would replace the iPad at no cost! Moral of the story: it VERY MUCH matters where you take your problem equipment--if you are out of Chicago, wait until you get back home and go to the big store. Obviously, I'll never go back to the Apple store at University Park Mall, but my faith is restored in Apple. read more

Had one repair that was done incorrectly, went back for 2nd repair and was told everything checked out this time. Had a very small spill of water on iphone 12 pro max and battery was affected somehow. Well they said this was not covered and charged me a $99 service fee, representative Alan was great, his manager Justin was careless and really did not say why battery was not good, said condensation was my fault. An overall bad experience with how situation was handled, the rep Alan did everything he could, manager was poor at ensuring a happy customer walked out the door. read more

Always clean and organized. Extra points because everything is shiny & sparkly. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Haven't run in to any that weren't helpful or knowledgeable. Not sure about the "Genius Bar" though. Didn't see any martinis floating about. I know, I know, it's for special services that I've never used. The gadgets & gizmos on the walls always seem advanced but pricey, but that's tech for you. I never bought very much more than gift cards & small stuff here. Allen is the best. He was able to fix my wife's iMac with a microphone problem. That another non-Apple store type company could not fix in one week. He took the initiative, went beyond his normal routine and was able to fix an iMac in less than one hour. read more

This store never has stock of the newest Apple products. (iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus) People in the store refer people to go online and reserve a product before coming in. (Which is probably best advice since they never have stock) Checking every morning and throughout the day, every other store within 300 miles has the newest iPhone in stock and able to be reserved, but not this Apple location. Maybe this is corporate Apples fault for under stocking this Apple store or maybe this store is not doing the correct procedure to reserve it online. Really is unfortunate this is the closest store because currently the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are only available exclusively at an Apple Store, otherwise they need to be ordered online and it is 2-3 weeks ship time. Soon it would have been better to order online, because it has been a full week of seeing other Apple stores have stock besides this location. read more

Very rude employees! This all started because Apple told us that we had a bad model phone that had been recalled and that the only way to fix it was to bring it in. We were first sent to a Best Buy that was 40 minutes from our house and when he couldn't help me I was told I had to go to Apple which was an hour and a half more away. So I have made a 4 hour round trip ride to get my phone that is broken because of an Apple issue fixed. I had the pleasure of meeting with Brain Stella today and a girl who I think her name is Tonya, though she refused to give me a card and actually told me she was advised not to give me her card, probably because of how rude she is and how poorly she did her job. When I asked if she didn't have a card she told me she was advised not to give me one, so I asked her name and she mumbled something, so I asked again and then repeated what I thought was Tonya, she chuckled and say "yea". I also was talking with another customer when they came up and told me that my phone that was suppose to be fixed for free was going to cost me $146. So when I told them that was theft, and they saw the lady and I were talking, I was informed I wasn't allowed to speak to costumers and that I was bothering this women. This women openly said I wasn't bothering her, yet I was still banned from speaking to anyone. So apparently Brian is above the law and refuses customers their first amendment right. Then Brian threatens to call security on me if I keep "talking that way", because I tell them this is legal theft, "Tonya" then says he should call them anyway. He then tells her, "we gave her a warning. Just continue." Then tries to be condescending to me so I had to ask him to stop talking to me. Then this wonderful experience ended with "Tonya" telling me to sign an iPad that says I have to pay $319. She's sees the price is way more than they told me when they were busy violating my rights, and says for me to sign it anyway. So I told her I wasn't signing anything with the wrong price on it. This obviously irritated her because she loudly huffed, rolled her eyes at me, and tells me "you won't be paying $319!" Then grabs her iPad and stomps to the back room. Magically she emerges asking for the loaner phone she just gave me and then leaves and comes back with a different one. She puts the new loaner phones info into her iPad and poof...the price reads $146! But I'm the one in the wrong because I wouldn't sign a document with the wrong price. I had my 4 children with me and "Tonya" told Me to let them play all the way on the other side of their very busy store, my oldest is 9 and I'm not going to send my children across a crowded store located in a busy mall with hopes that they will be there when I'm done dealing with these horrible Apple employees, plus my 3 oldest kept crying on and off because today was the end of a program they have been in all summer and they missed the final day because of us being forced to drive 4 hours for this problem to be resolved. I would definitely not recommend this store if you are going to use Apple products. I was told Brian was a manager and if that's the case him and the rest of his staff need to be retrained. I've already been in contact with corporate and now I will be reporting both Brian and "Tonya" and asking if it's common for Apple to violate their customers rights! read more

I came here to buy my phone from the Sprint. They wanted me to send my phone in for repairs. However, after I was able to talk to a genius he was able to help me identify the problem with my Iphone 6. It was the charging port. This is one of the main reasons why i buy Iphone, the customer service is superior to other phone manufacturers. I had to dock a star cause the wait was over an hour. First and last visit for me. I made an appointment 2 days in advance and sat there for 40 minutes before I had to ask an employee for help. Not one of the staff members made eye contact or acknowledged me. They also preferred to gossip about other employees and show each other funny videos instead of asking me why I was sitting right in front of them. I have had apple products for years. I switch phone providers and received a new iPhone. From day one I was having problems. So after two weeks of dealing with BS I had a day off and went in. They wouldn't replace my phone. Somehow there's water in it. I would love to know how the heck there is water in it. Phone that is brand new with a $85 case on it that protects it against everything including water damage. The guy that helped me was rude about it and told me I could buy another one. I'm not buying another after I JUST BOUGHT THIS ONE!! What a wast of two hours. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER IPHONE AGAIN. Word of advice, just stay away from iPhones as clearly they don't know how to replace bad products. They just want to steal money from people!! read more

I came here to get my laptop fixed because it was going turtle slow and freezing up. Both the battery and the fan needed to be replaced along with a reset. Hearing reset frightened me because my dissertation was on my laptop and I was unable to back up my files due to an issue with my laptop and external hard drive. Apple kept my laptop and external drive overnight to see if the laptop needed additional time to backup. In the morning I was notified it was ready for pick up and that my laptop had in fact backed up! Woohoo! To top it off, I came in expecting to pay for the battery and the fan replacement (which were beyond my budget) and was told that I didn't have to pay for the battery! I was so surprised. My techs were awesome, and I truly appreciate their help and kindness. read more

I have been to other Apple Stores. If Apple knew how this one actually operated they would shut it down. The answer to every issue I have had with my phone is "you need to close out your apps" or "try resetting the phone." Never been able to accomplish anything with them. Oh yeah, even if no one is in the store you will still need to make an appointment with them (and the will tell you nothing is available for an hour or so). Really? No one is in the store and there are 4 techs standing there doing nothing? Poor customer service and incompetent techs. Drive to Chicago if you need help or do like I did and go HTC. read more

We came to the Apple Store after having issues with the iPhone 6+ that we had gotten from the Verizon store on Douglas (they were less than helpful per Verizon standards). My wife and I weren't there for more than 15 minutes and we walked out with a brand new iPhone. I have been there for everything from tech problems with my Dad's Mac book pro, my son breaking the screen on this iPhone 4, to buying my girlfriend a Mac book. He said to take it to Apple Store in Mishawaka. When I got there I was amazed how busy they were. After waiting for about 15 minutes (I thought I was invisible) I finally got one of the employees attention and explained my problem. He pointed to another employee whose name is Johnny. He was a joy to work with. He took my phone in the back for 10 minutes. When he came out he said you're good to go, no charge have a great day. What can be exciting about the apple store? according to Daddy it was more than awesome and exceeded his expectations. There were tons of red shirts helping everybody out. They had every product you could imagine out to let you play with them and really get a handle on them. Every single area you went to had a good rep wanting to help you. if you said you just wanted to look they didnt hasle you. The prices of course are set in stone but playing with the products makes it a big difference. there was enough products out for everybody to play with them and play as long as you want. read more

Today I had to return an external drive. I didn't realize it until now, but it was the wrong size (I'm a photographer and I buy two 2tb drives for backing up some of my work) Anyway, somehow when I first bought these drives I bought a 1tb drive and a 2tb drive, when they both needed to be 2tbs, as my data is mirrored on both drives. Anyway, it was slightly past the return date, I didn't have the original packaging, and I decided to see if the guys at Apple could still help me out by exchanging it for a 2tb drive. They came through! If they would have decided to say no, it would not have been their fault nor would I think less of Apple, but by helping me out, I'm excited and ended buying more Apple stuff while I was there. I spent 2 hours and 20 minutes for an appointment to fix my email. After being handed off to a second "genius", I went home with the same problem I started with. Both guys said I did not have a problem, although I could not send or receive email. The next day, I spent 15 minutes on the phone with a very helpful AOL genius, who diagnosed the problem as one with my MAC account, and fixed it. I will continue to go to either Indy or Chicago for my Apple problems. I was a total waste of my time to go to Mishawaka. read more
