When you have to be on target, when you can't miss, when there is no second chance or second best go see Doc Dan. He's the "heat"

Apparently, Vision Source decided to cancel my appointment without talking to me. Preferring to tell me in person that I am too poor to be seen there. Recently moved to Walla Walla and had the misfortune of selecting Nielson Eye Care. I had an…read moreappointment in June 2018 and had an eye exam, contact lens fitting (paid for 2yr contract, as they required) and ordered a pair of prescription glasses. I needed to file an insurance claim for replacement of my glasses, as they had been lost by the airlines during a recent trip. I had to call them about the charges, as their receipt was unreadable. The copy of the receipt they produced the second time was also unreadable. When I brought it to their attention, they said "Oh, the printer must be out of ink." While I waited, they had to scramble to get a decent copy of the receipt. No apologies were offered. I did not need to order contacts at that time, so I did not pick up my trial lenses. When I called the office to order contact lenses in April 2019, I was told my prescription was not finalized. I was told that I would have to see the doctor before they could release the trial lenses to me and they could not book an appointment for me until the end of April. They seemed unwilling to put forth any effort in getting me an appointment sooner. Most offices will offer to squeeze you in if any appointments become available. I contacted Vision Source in Walla Walla, who gave me an appointment the following day with Dr. E. Wiessner and I am very happy with the professional treatment I received. I only wish I had selected them from the start! After a comprehensive exam and discussion with the doctor, I was also informed that the prescription on my glasses (from Nielson Eye Care) was wrong! Now I need to pay for new glasses with the right correction after only a few months. To top it off, I also lost out on service of my 2 year contract for contact lens fitting with Nielson Eye Care. Final note: Nielson Eye Care did not even bother to notify their patients that they have closed their office and moved to the other side of town! I happened to drive past the office and saw the note posted on their former location. During my phone conversation with the office manager, Sharon, I asked why they had not notified their patients about the move. I believe that a phone call or notification by mail was the least they should have done. She said that they posted information about the move in the local newspaper and on Facebook. As of this writing, their OLD address still displays on their website.

Yesterday tried to get an authorization for care in the community, for Vision Pendleton, they were kind enough to let me know my authorization had expired and would be paying out of pocket. I'm a 100% disabled veteran, payed by the VA on a set income, which pays for my family and I to survive. They offered no assistance, nor interest in helping me get an authorization, like most Dr. Offices will... It is incredibly difficult for a patient of the VA to contact the correct channels, and most of the times the doctors offices are able to get a hold of the correct channels easier, and more efficiently (I know my physical therapist and dentist are able to). Regardless, I went to Walla Walla, (From Ukiah Oregon) and set up an authorization with my optometrist there. Upon contacting Vision Pendleton at 8:00am today (5/27/22) they informed me that my appointment had been cancelled and my slot had been filled by a new patient (Because I told them that I would not be able to make the appointment if I had to pay out of pocket for it, apparently that means CANCEL. My wife got upset with them (She is my official caretaker through the VA), understandably. Remember, I have not one but TWO corneal erosion's, (That's when your cornea is torn) one in each eye. Skip to 9:00am when Optometry in Walla Walla VA opens, we're still trying to get the authorization pushed through so I can get some care for my TRAUMATIC eye injury. This is a recurring issue and I have been working with Vision Pendleton, along with another specialist clinic in Walla Walla for over a year now, this happens on a regular basis, we had the authorization pushed through anyways, because we were told the appointment was back on. On or around 9:10am of 5/27/2022 we get a call from front desk Amy, stating the Dr Monkman will not see me and that I need to follow up somewhere else. The question was asked, am I being cancelled as a patient? "Yes" was the answer I received. I do not believe this was an appropriate response to someone in an obvious state of need. I understand that we may have come off as aggressive and rude, but really we just needed immediate help. Thank you for your time -Brandon Hammons

They are always prompt to return phone calls, and always seem to be cheerful when greeting patients. I have seen the front staff deal with rude patients in a very professional manner. Dr. Monkman has a great memory [can tell me things about when my brother and I were kids and came into her office] and really just cares about her patients and their lives. I am certain that Dr. Briscoe is much the same as they were both nominated for Boss of the Year. I have terrible vision and have required close monitoring, and they have given me the best care possible while keeping affordability in mind. Best optometrists in town: whenever my doctors refer over new patients, they almost always are able to work them in. Would recommend them personally or professionally to anyone.

I felt thankful that the Lifestyle team was able to schedule and see me in my hometown (which is a couple hours from Walla Walla). They set aside these days to see patients in our remote area. Unfortunately, my thankfulness ended there. I was in the office for over an hour, had an unnecessary full eye exam and then was told, after less than a minute with Dr. Giebel that he hadn't brought the tools to address my problem and couldn't help me. Their office then charged me for the eye exam I didn't need, as my concern did not have anything to do with sight/prescription, etc. If the doctor had simply taken a quick look when I first walked in the door, I wouldn't have had to miss an entire morning of work and pay for services I never wanted.

Scheduling her first evaluation couldn't have been easier since the staff are so friendly and responsive. Although my mother was hesitant about having eye surgery, Dr. Giebel put her at ease by fully answering all of our questions with a dose of his warm sense of humor. While some healthcare experiences feel impersonal, this was not the case here. Several appointments are required for the procedure my mother had done, but the team coordinated it all with ease. They were also extremely understanding and helpful when we had to reschedule the surgery do to a Covid outbreak. The procedure was performed yesterday at St. Mary's Providence, Walla Walla, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. The staff there were also fantastic and made mom feel like a person as much as a patient. Our follow up appointment this morning was a breeze. Karen took us to the procedure room and gently cleaned my mother's eye and prepared her for Dr. Evanger's exam. Dr. Evander was as warm and comforting as Dr. Giebel so we left with complete confidence. Each time we came to the clinic we were greeted upon arrival and treated with respect. It all flowed so smoothly and easily that we couldn't be happier. Since I live 4 hours away, I am thrilled to have such a wonderfully competent and friendly team on board for my mother's future eyecare needs and that's huge!

I opted for the Light Adjustable Lenses, and am very happy with the results. With just one small adjustment after surgery, he was able to fine tune my lens so I can read clearly, as well as perfect distance vision! Initially, Dr. Edwards took the time to explain the treatment options available for my cataracts, which allowed me to make an informed decision. Once treatment was started, he was very thorough and meticulous, explaining each step in the process along the way, from the surgeries to later office visits. The surgery was done at St. Mary's and I felt comfortable and relaxed for both visits. (One for each eye) I would highly recommend Dr. Edwards for cataract surgery. My other problem was I had no other signs of a stroke so I was going to wait another day to see if it would get better. I waited an hour and a half before calling the office to see if I could see the doctor. After all, what could he do. He determined I was having a stroke right now (although I felt fine just couldn't see out of the right eye). He told me to go straight to ER and he would call ahead and let them know what was happening. I was rushed in and given the vital injection need and then was air flighted to Spokane. Unfortunately, I lost the vision in my right eye, but the immediate action he took helped the clot from moving through the rest of my body. DO NOT WAIT. Conclusion: Dr Hanson is skilled in all these areas and I could not have asked for better doctor for my eyes. His staff from the receptionists to the tech staff are skilled, professional, and friendly. They all have supported me with their caring.
