Can not recommend the Apple Door Systems operation located in North Chesterfield , County, VA . Was quoted a service charge for labor including travel time at $179.00 plus parts to replace rubber channelling along the bottom of two garage doors. The final cost was $288.75!!. This included a "Residential Zone" charge of $44.75 to travel from Hull Street to Salisbury in Midlothian. Wasn't advised at the time of the initisl quote of such a charge. The installation time for the rubber replacement was approximately 30 minutes. Will never use this firm again!! read more

A1 Doors identified several critical issues, including: Undersized Springs: They determined the springs were inadequate for the door's weight, leading to improper adjustment. Used and Damaged Components: They noted evidence of used and damaged parts, specifically pointing out inconsistencies in panel yellowing and compromised spring functionality. Following A1 Doors' assessment, I contacted Apple Door. An Apple technician refuted A1 Doors' findings, asserting that all installed components were appropriate for the door. Further attempts to verify component specifications directly with the manufacturer were hindered by Apple Door providing an incorrect contact number. Subsequent Apple Door inspections continued to dismiss my concerns, with technicians attributing issues to routine adjustments and emphasizing the expired warranty. I was met with resistance when I mentioned the used parts, and they stated it was my word against theirs. However, I documented the condition of the components with photographs and video. Upon a second inspection by A1 Doors, they meticulously recorded evidence of pre-existing damage, including a bent and cracked pole, which directly correlated with the ongoing performance issues. Had this component failed completely, it could have resulted in a serious accident. This experience highlights a pattern of dismissive customer service and the installation of substandard, used parts. I strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution when considering Apple Door. Thoroughly document all aspects of the installation process, and consider obtaining second opinions from reputable independent contractors. I'm in the wrong business. Big $$ for basically giving the system the once over with an eyeball, maybe he spent 10 mins actually in the garage. How hard is it to show up during the time frame originally quoted being the first service call? 20 mins late (apparently I didn't get the message that my time isn't important), texting while at the house (put your phone away!), sitting in truck taking another 5-10 mins writing the service order, which claimed work that we didn't see him do. Over the years we have had good and bad experiences with service/techs/admin from Apple Door, but now I'm definitely done. I had been hopeful that they had gotten over problems/attitudes however we're disappointed again. Not expecting the world, just do your job and stop taking advantage of people. read more

Apple door installed doors for our 3-car garage. The doors are ok except that one of them has a large gash in it. We alerted Apple Doors months ago. They said they would repair or replace the damaged part of the door. Months later... the damage is still there. UPDATE: It took them several months to come and fix the garage door gash. Their first attempt was to stick putty in the gash and paint over it. It looked terrible. Months later, they ordered a panel to replace the one that had been damaged during installation. This is really a 2-star review because it was such a hassle to get what we paid for. Giving 3 because they finally got around to fulfilling our purchase. read more

Service men were on time polite and seemed efficient , however installed wrong lift system , after installing proper lift system they charged me for an additional service trip . The person on the phone who identified herself as the owner was sarcastic and rude . I'm happy with the product ( liftmaster) but it was at least 3 months before my door was straight, I would never again use or recommend someone else use apple door . read more

We recently replaced a broken garage door with an insulated garage door through Apple Door Systems. The gentlemen who came out to give us a quote was really helpful according to my wife. We agreed on the service and scheduled a time for install. The day came and the gentleman showed up right on time. Originally we were quoted 4-5 hours for install, but the gentleman did it in 2 hours. My wife was happy with the way things looked and the garage door was working much better than the broken one we had fixed. It was also much quieter opening and closing. When I got home I got to see it in action and things appeared OK. The next day I got home and I noticed something odd. I looked up and one of the brackets that hold the door opener motor was not connected! I got up on a ladder and I saw the bolt was disconnected and the nut was sitting on top of the motor. I reconnected things but I question what else was missed during the quick install. read more

My garage doors were just sad and old, so I called Apple Door after two other places had failed to return my call. They were prompt, did the job correctly, reasonably priced, and when something needed tweaking after the install, they returned and made it right. This is the place to call for doors. Hands down the best experience. I used Melanie Brothers before, and the product was fine the install and service was awful. The difference was night and day. Thank God there are still some honest, and hard working folks out there to help those of us who are not all that handy with tools. read more

My neighbors and I have used Apple Door in the past and always got good service at a reasonable price. Last week the torsion spring broke on the door Apple installed. Submitted a service request, was called by Apple to set up service call the next week. They offered emergency service, but since we have another car, didn't feel it was necessary. 9/15/20 - The technician arrived at the time agreed upon. However, he didn't have the spring needed and would have to make it and come back another day. Here is where they get the one star, he said he needed to collect $125, which $50 would be credited back to me when they come back and I would still pay $259 (original price quoted when setting up appointment). I called the office, spoke to April (manager), who stated I would be responsible for $125 tech visit and $259 when they come back. April was not willing to waive $125, even though I was never told about this additional charge. I can no longer recommend Apple Door. There are other companies that give you an up front price and not try to add to it. read more

I used them in maybe 2010..all good. Dec. 7, 2019 got new French doors in family room, door knob hole cut shotty/paint finish off..sheetrock damage on right side of door. I paid more than $500.00 for all sets to be keyed the same. I checked them. One didn't work. Installer denied ever being in that room. Another installer dropped a lockset on my linoleum floor in utility room & put a small tear in it upon dropping it. All was reported day of installation or within 24 hours/ the required time frame. 2 installers & sales person denied it all. Keep in mind I was here the entire time. Poor customer service. Came to fix a spring charged a service fee broke something else and now wants another service fee again.

We meet with the salesmen in April about installing two storm doors at our 1923 home. With help from the salesmen two upper end doors where selected and we paid 50% of the amount due and the doors were ordered. A month later the doors arrived and Apple Doors scheduled an installation. The installation of the rear door goes as planned but here we are 6 months later and the front door is still not finished. There have been 4 different installation teams out and the front door has been hung twice. As a result nothing aligns and there has been damage to the door jam and outside trim. Apple Doors is sending out another tech for the 5th time - we have been patient a. I'm sure if everything went as planned we would have been happy but that was not our path. But that's not the reason for the poor review - Apple Door has handled this issue unprofessionally which is unacceptable. And when we attempted to share our experience with the owner it fell on deaf ears. Lesson learned - never again with Apple Doors. read more

I had 2 new garage doors installed by Apple and I have nothing but (TROUBLE) When it rains the water comes under the door because the seal is not pliable it is hard an that does not make a good seal on the floor. It also drips water after it rains when the door goes up from the panels. I wish I had never spent the money on these doors. read more

I rarely write reviews but I have had the worst experience with Apple Doors. I completed a contract with them concerning installing a brand new garage door because I have had my previous door for 16 years and I wanted to upgrade the door. The salesman was great. It was understood that it may take up to 6 weeks for my door to come in because of COVID. I totally understood that. Then it turned into 12-15 weeks. Okay fine. The contract was written on February 3rd. Guess what. My current garage door broke in April. I explained that I have a new door coming in from them by May 27th. I called them explaining that I could not get my car out of the garage. The person who I spoke with stated it would cost an emergency visit, but if I waited it would "be on Apple". Of course, I chose to wait because I "assumed" when she made that statement, that they would cover the cost because of the inconvenience of the wait time for my new door. I "assumed" the cost would be taken off what I have already paid in advance. When he arrived and fixed the springs, a bill was given. They did cut the price of the visit after I questioned the previous statement, "it will be on Apple". Got over that hump. not even a month later, my garage door stops working again!!! The same issue as before. Of course, I am upset because not only did I pay but I have to wait until May 27th for my new door to come. I do not want to pay another cost with Apple. When I called to find out the status of my new door. The statement that sent me over the edge was, "Well, you signed a contract stating that you will not get your money back regardless of how long it takes for your door to come in.... if it doesn't arrive after the 15 weeks, it's out of Apple's hands but you signed a contract that permits that for however long it takes for the manufacturer to finally deliver the product, you are bound to it". Of course, I was furious because you cannot take someone's money and expect someone to WAIT even longer or indefinitely regardless of what was signed. BE CAREFUL OF THE VAGUE WRITING ON THE CONTRACT. They do not understand that under the law, there is an expectation of a "reasonable time frame" for a job to be done, COVID or not. Apple is under the impression if it takes until DECEMBER or next year, they can keep my money!! DON'T BOTHER DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DO NOT CARE FOR THE CUSTOMER. read more

I requested assistance for my 75 year old Dad. Apple Door Systems gave him the wrong keys when the door was installed. They refuse to replace the keys and want to charge to replace the keys with the correct ones. Their mistake cost the customer. They also blocked me on Facebook and removed my comments about how we were treated. Seems dishonest to me, why can't the customer post their true experience with Apple Door Systems. read more

There was a delay in the door panel that was delivered (three weeks late) and there was an error in the beading on the door that was delivered, so it didn't match the existing door. We are putting our house on the market and the delay has put us under a massive time crunch and impacted the other work, due to lining up a painter. I received two conflicting stories for the delay--first was that the door panel was lost in transit from the supplier and then that the supplier sent the wrong item (which was it Apple? Can't even get your story straight). Then to top it off they wouldn't give us a break on the final payment as an attempt to meet us half way for the inconvenience caused. Terrible company--the fact that their vendor screwed up is not my problem--it's yours. Apple you need to own it. I would't recommend anyone to use them based on the experience we received. The leadership have no sense of customer service....very amateur leadership. That said, I was pleased with the installers. Sadly they work for a sub-standard company. read more

We have used Apple Door in the past and was pleased with their service. When our garage door didn't open, I called and they were at our house within the same hour. The spring on the garage door broke and needed replacing. The repairman noticed that the door was cracked at the top and advised me that we either needed to replace the top and middle panel or needed an entire new door. After he repaired the door, it opened, but would not completely open, secondary to door being broke. I paid $250 for spring repair and was advised someone would call me to set up a quote for a new garage door. When I scheduled the appointment for a quote for a new door, I inquired if we needed a new door, why did we just pay $250. They advised me that if I in fact needed a new door, we would receive a credit. When I received the quote, I inquired about the credit, and was told it was $100. So we basically paid $250 for a new spring, and literally 1 week later have to purchase an entire new garage door, which includes a spring. Not happy that we just wasted $250 for a spring, when we should have been told from the beginning not to replace it and to just replace the new door. I called Precision Door, who quoted us $200 less. Even if they were the same price, I still would have went with them, as we wasted $250 on a spring for no reason. Will do more research next time before making another repair call. read more

On December 12, 2012 I contracted Apple Door Systems in Fredericksburg, VA to install a new garage door and door opener at my home (service work order number 48331; entered on November 29, 2012). Items installed from their "Enterprise Collection": (1) Empire Solid White 16' x 7' garage door with no glass; (1) Vanguard Belt driven door opener both from Apple Door Systems. Total cost = $1,366.00. Apple Door Systems identifies the following warranty on their Vanguard door opener: "Lifetime warranty on motor and belt, 10 years mechanical and 3 years on electronics." Their warranty statement on everything else states: "Enterprise warranty on Sections, 3 years on Hardware/Springs, 1 year on Labor." On August 17, 2017 - less than 5 years from the date of installation - the spring suffered a failure in operation rendering the door inoperable. My wife and I could not manually raise the door to get our vehicles out of the garage due to this failure. We called Apple Door Systems on the morning of Friday August 18, 2017 to request a service technician from Apple Door Systems be dispatched to help us open the door and to effect repairs or to schedule a date for repairs at some later date. Our main concern at that time was to simply get our cars out of the garage so that we could use them to go back and forth to work. During that initial phone call to Apple Door Systems in Fredericksburg, we were told that no service technicians were available to assist us until September 6, 2017 - 21 days from the date of our initial call. They clearly understood our request was to simply have a technician come to our home in order to help us open get the door open, and that I was more than willing to wait until September 6th to repair the door fully. Again, our main concern on August 18th was to get our cars out of the garage. The customer service representative we spoke with, a woman the name of whom I don't remember, simply recommended that we contact another company to fix the door if we needed it done sooner, because they had nobody available to help us with our problem. She also stated that the warranty on their products was only for 1 year, despite the warranty statement I quoted above that came directly from my work order. I personally found her response callous and severely lacking in customer service! They would rather have us contact another company to fix a product with their company's name on it than fix their product themselves. After getting nowhere with Apple Door Systems, we contacted Lake Anna Garage Doors in Fredericksburg. They were able to send a technician who was already servicing their customers in our area. Within three hours of our initial phone call to Lake Anna Garage Doors, they were able to have a technician at our home with the garage door opened and repaired in an hour. The cost we paid to Lake Anna Garage Doors to fix Apple Door Systems' failed product was $250. If Apple Door Systems cared about customer service, they would have fixed this issue with their equipment. In my opinion, that is unacceptable and serves as another example of the serious decline in customer service I have seen in other businesses around the country. Lake Anna Garage Doors is far superior in my estimation, and anyone requiring garage door services should avoid Apple Door Systems at all costs. read more

Based on a recommendation from a friend, we had Apple Door Systems install our new garage door and automatic opener yesterday and we couldn't be happier. We ordered a special color and were concerned it may not match the rest of our trim. It is perfect!! From beginning to end, the process was flawless. The salesman, Phil, was great and there was no pressure at all to purchase. He gave me all the info and costs and didn't harass me as some sales people do. Since we had to order the special color, it took a couple of weeks to arrive, as Phil said it would, but it's here now and it's awesome. Cory, the young man who did the installation, was very professional and did an amazing job. When he was finished, he demonstrated all of the features for me and answered all of my questions. One year after we installed two new Apple garage doors in our custom built home we got a call from Apple Door and was informed that we needed a check up and cleaning visit from them to check on our doors that would COST about $135 I believe was the amount or close to it. I told them they didn't need this unreasonable and rip off check up as they work as they should. They told me that if I didn't aggree to the visit and pay the fee they would void my guarantee!!! Their so called yearly check up is really a cheap way to bilk more money from home owners forever!! Go to Amelia garage door people and they will inform you that no yearly check up is needed.
