Leaf turning!

If I could give this 1,000 stars, I would. Campground is well run, and very clean. The staff is helpful, the pool is great, there is a catch and release pond, and a fun playground for kids to run and play. Nondenominational church service on Saturday evenings, different activities during busy Sunday weekends, and best of all, it is peaceful. If you don't like happy people, you might want to stay elsewhere. We were here for the summer, and will be back next year. We have a new camping family!

It's hot out. Chillin inside the pop up.

This was our first time staying at Apple Creek. Reading reviews made me nervous but we booked anyways. We decided on a very private site (301). Most people don't stay where we did. We loved it! When I camp I love being alone, no neighbors. Nothing. The only downfall is we didn't get free coffee when they came through, not the end of the world. Family washroom was clean when I used it. Pool was okay and not too crowded, they have time slots to avoid the crowding. Would return BUT only to site 301. The others are way too close together and noisy like other reviews.

We stayed in a "premium" site up on the hill. So loud and noisy all night/day from the freeway traffic. Would NOT recommend.

Scheffel's Hideaway Campground - Main Office area and playgrounds

Scheffel's Hideaway Campground

We reserved a site at Scheffel's Hideaway Campground based on a comment from a camping acquaintance…read morethat the area was beautiful, friendly, and cooler than average. Since we had never been to that part of Wisconsin, we decided to give it a try. We've been full-time RVers for 14 years and can honestly say this is our favorite spot out of at least two or three hundred other campgrounds including everything from boondocking to resorts. The grounds are immaculate, as are the restrooms and two laundry rooms, which are handicapped friendly. The roads, while unpaved are of a fine shell or gravel and hard packed so these are easy to traverse using a walker. There are miles of popular, well-kept walking/bicycle paths nearby going from Point Rawley to the north, past the park and on to Manitowoc to the south. The owners of the park, Tammie and Paul, love the park and are working tirelessly at making it more beautiful every year. There is a lovely pond, lots shrubs and flowers as well as bat houses, bird houses and feeders (we watched goldfinches as we ate dinner several times), whimsical decorations large and small scattered throughout which are changed with the seasons. A number of sites have shade, and most of those without full grown trees have young trees about 15 feet tall or so and will provide more shade every year. Guidelines for the park are clear and reasonable: guests are asked to respect the space and people which is of course, simple common courtesy. All-in-all, this is is our idea of the perfect combination of a natural and well-kept park and friendly people. We are looking forward to our next, longer visit next year. Thank you for a wonderful three months, Tammie and Paul.

The camp office doesn't seem to be open often, but the owners live on site so if you ever need anything. Great place, hidden gem! And reasonably priced.

We spent about two hours walking through the historical eras. Our favorite was spending time with the fur trader. We were each given the opportunity to throw a hatchet into a wooden block. He was quite interesting and you could tell he enjoyed his role. The "characters" explaining each structure really added to the experience and compelled the kids to actually retain a little something from the visit. The grounds themselves are beautiful and scenic to walk. They rent the facility for private events and it would be a great site to host a wedding if you could stay late enough into the evening. Lots of spots for wedding party photos. We enjoyed our visit and I am glad to have experienced Heritage Hill as an adult with my own children. It's not anywhere were likely to return to anytime soon but worthy of a first time historical & heritage visit if you find yourself in the Green Bay area looking to do something not Packers related.

We brought our two children who were entertained the entire trip. If you have children, there is literally something for ALL of their ages. For teens, there's a game room, shuffleboard, a swing/trampoline/launching blob and a raft in the lake; for children old enough to adventure away from the camp site, there are bikes that are more like large peddle cars, the pool with balls and a basketball hoop, a water slide, a bounce house, mini golf, a bike ramp for regular bicycles, a large playground and games made up each weekend, like scavenger hunts. For the toddler age, the water slide and pool is a great way to spend time away from the camp site with the little guys. The adults are included in the fun too!!! Saturdays has a Tiki bar that have beverages of the adult variety along with sensational grilling food. There were even grilled corn dogs! Different weekends have different events which can include a band or karaoke at the pavilion. The weekend we went had "Christmas in July" with people decorating their sites with lights and all sorts of Christmas lawn decor. There were wagon rides at night. There are golf carts and paddle boards to rent along with games like beach volleyball, badminton and ladder golf. There's so many options for adults with or without children. Between the things to do and the GREAT upkeep of all of grounds and facilities, this is the place to camp!
