What a great campground!!! Well maintained, friendly staff and FHU sites. Picnic table and fire pit at each site and plenty of green space. They have a laundry room with one washer ($2) and one dryer ($1). It was located just outside of town, but not so to be inconvenient. The is a restaurant located just outside the campground. The camp office doesn't seem to be open often, but the owners live on site so if you ever need anything. Great place, hidden gem! And reasonably priced. read more

We reserved a site at Scheffel's Hideaway Campground based on a comment from a camping acquaintance that the area was beautiful, friendly, and cooler than average. Since we had never been to that part of Wisconsin, we decided to give it a try. We've been full-time RVers for 14 years and can honestly say this is our favorite spot out of at least two or three hundred other campgrounds including everything from boondocking to resorts. The grounds are immaculate, as are the restrooms and two laundry rooms, which are handicapped friendly. The roads, while unpaved are of a fine shell or gravel and hard packed so these are easy to traverse using a walker. There are miles of popular, well-kept walking/bicycle paths nearby going from Point Rawley to the north, past the park and on to Manitowoc to the south. The owners of the park, Tammie and Paul, love the park and are working tirelessly at making it more beautiful every year. There is a lovely pond, lots shrubs and flowers as well as bat houses, bird houses and feeders (we watched goldfinches as we ate dinner several times), whimsical decorations large and small scattered throughout which are changed with the seasons. A number of sites have shade, and most of those without full grown trees have young trees about 15 feet tall or so and will provide more shade every year. Guidelines for the park are clear and reasonable: guests are asked to respect the space and people which is of course, simple common courtesy. All-in-all, this is is our idea of the perfect combination of a natural and well-kept park and friendly people. We are looking forward to our next, longer visit next year. This is the most well kept facility. We love how clean and how groomed it was. It has place for your dogs to walk. The waterfall into a pond area beautifully done. I really appreciated the kids area. So easy to do bike trails and hikers would love also. Close access to lake. read more

My wife and I were looking for a nice campground in this area so we could visit family and my cousin mentioned Scheffel's. I did not read all of the reviews but instead balanced out bad reviews with good ones. Unfortunately, the bad were not exagerrating. Reservation process was ok though not automated. Reserved in January and female owner stated they dont man the phones much while closed. Ok, she seemed nice. Little reaponse from them on followup emails. We checked in on a Thursday. Husband owner guided us to our site and advised us to be aware of crown. Husband was very pleasant. No issues there. Friday morning my wife and I, both seniors, were walking our dogs. We were walking across the playground, dogs had not done anything yet, when the female owner came charging out of her office screaming at us that we cannot walk the dogs there. She stated there were signs. The one sign on the side we entered was fully obscured by a short tree. We started  moving in the direction she pointed and my wife said we always pick up after our dogs. She yelled again. She must have stated 3 times she was the owner.  I quietly muttered "wow" as I was amazed at her rudeness. She turned and yelled again and I explained we were moving as directed. She started heading back to the office when my wife stated "God Bless You". She was not being sarcastic.  We take our faith seriously. The lady turned around and told us to pack up and leave. No reconciling, no working it out. If we were not out by noon she was calling the police. She refused to give us a refund for the 8 days remaining. She has not returned phone messages or emails. We were 800 miles from home and at the beginning of our family visit, I was born in the area.  We were very fortunate to find a suitable campground. I have never in my life ever been treated as rudely by someone in the "hospitality" industry. Sorry for the long review. Dont discount the negative on this one. read more

First off, I wanted to write a review to respond to some of the negative reviews on here about the owners. I don't know if the owners changed or if maybe there is just more to the story from other reviews that stated negative comments about the owners. We stayed here 3 nights with our two kids and they rode their bikes, played on the playground, and even played with other kids in the campground without any grief whatsoever from the owners. In fact, the owners went out of their way to be GREAT hosts. When we pulled in, we were greeted with great hospitality and felt very welcomed. That feeling remained throughout our stay. Our favorite part was that there is a beach that is about a mile hike through a beautiful wetland area. The trails were clean and in great shape. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in this area. read more

Nice clean friendly campground. Yes the owners care about how you park your RV as another reviewer complained but they also guide you into your site. Our family had three sites, and although small they were set up nice with modern hookups. The owners were absolutely fantastic. I will not hesitate to come back. read more

Scheffel's Hideaway Campground - Nice level site clean. - Campgrounds Near Me - Two Rivers, Wisconsin

Located right next to Point Beach State Park, they have 50 campsites, all with water/electric and some with sewer. It's fairly new, only about 7 years old. They have a playground, a little fishing pond with waterfall, and are in the process of building a little beer bar where you can hang out on a rainy night and watch the game. Pros: level sites, plenty of room for the big rigs, super friendly owners (they joined us at the campfire last night), great location next to the SP, bike trails connect to campground, restaurant next door has yummy fish fry. Bathrooms nice and clean. The fire rings are large with a flip over grilling grate. Cons: sites are close together, and since it's new, many have no trees (But they have a lot planted), not a lot of amenities right now, showers cost quarters. Not well suited to tent camping, though it is allowed If you're looking to enjoy the point beach area but can't find a big enough site in the state park and/or want hookups, this is a great alternative. read more

The owners obviously have pride in this place. Paul met us when we pulled in, led us to our site with a golf cart, helped with the backing up, and told us where they lived in case we needed anything. The while campground was clean, the bathrooms and showers immaculate, and the landscaping was carefully done so that in a couple years it will be gorgeous. Don't go for a shower without quarters, though! Two were enough for me. read more

Stayed here July 4th 2020. Well kept campground. Owners are horrible. Very grouchy and particular on where and how you park your camper. Walk around the campground periodically as some sort of fun police to scold people. Owners dislike children and expect them to stay at the Campsite the entire trip and to be quiet. It's like camping in a jail. read more

We stayed here on our way up to Door County. The campground and bathrooms were pristine. It opened in 2010 and they have done a great job grooming the grounds and creating a beautiful campground. It was super quiet and had sandy, grassy sites for our tent. The owner himself took us to our site and brought us firewood. The showers requires quarters but it's well worth it because they were so clean. We would highly recommend this campground and will return. There's also a bike path that leads to the state forest lighthouse and beach close by. read more

The Scheffel's are a wonderful couple who LOVE what they do. This is reflected greatly in their campground. While I have never personally stayed there, I have visited there a few times while other friends were there and I have nothing but great things to say! The Scheffel's put their hearts and souls into this campground. Responding to Susan H, the owners of a campground should not be parenting for you. Kids need to be respectful while out in public, and it sounds as though your kids were anything but. If your experience was negative, perhaps you should look at what YOU could have done to prevent that... Watching your kids would have perhaps made your experience better. Destroying campground property gave the owners EVERY right to tell you to watch your kids. read more

Campground/ RV Park Outstanding The owners are the best Very helpful and go out of their way to help. Sites clean and kept up.. Showers and bathrooms are neat and very clean. We spent a week here and had a ball riding out bikes in to town and the lighthouse. One more thing we had an order come via UPS to the campground the owner Tami brought it to us in Two Harbors where our motorhome was being repaired Someone stated kids where not welcome NOT TRUE I watched the owners helping kids fly kits and interact with quite a few kids. The restaurant next door not owned by the folks who own the campground/RV Park I'll give them two stars Friday night is fish night To start with not everthing on the menu is available It's fish night why not have fish avabule Asked for Walleye Sorry we do not have it tonight One mile from Lake Michigan and you are out of Walleye? We ordered White Fish Very greasy and over breaded Menu stated fish was fresh Not sure about that. Kids? I decided to cross Lake Michigan on the SS Badger with nothing but my bike and camping gear. Since I did not plan this very well I rode my bike to several campgrounds and all were full. I stopped here and was able to get the last spot. The place is modern, clean, quite and very well maintained. It is close to an excellent State Park and beautiful beaches. The best part for me was the campground has access to the local trail system. I was able to ride the trails to the state park, beaches and marina. There is a decent restaurant next to the entrance and it's only a short bike ride to town. Only item I found strange was the shower required quarters to work, a quarter got you 2 min of shower time. Since I was traveling light I did not have any quarters. I had to go get them. I would definitely return.. read more

Modern, clean and well-located, this campground is really only built for RVs. Don't bother if you're tent camping. The sites are very close with only room for a table and a fire pit between the pads. Zero privacy for tent campers. read more

Nice clean family run campground. Gravel interior roads and sites. Sties are nice with table, fire rings and pretty wide. Had playground for kids, laundry and bath house, which were nice and clean. Had decent wifi, but no cable. I got about 12 channels off my antenna. Lots of trails nearby but watch out for the state bird (mosquitoes). Restaurant and bar next door and state park up the road. We stayed 3 1/2 weeks in a 40' 5th wheel. read more

Great little campground!! We managed to get a campsite here over the 4th of July holiday. This is a fairly small (50 sites) campground on the outskirts of Two Rivers, Wi The pros: This has to be one of the quietest campgrounds we have ever been to, even over the holiday weekend. The campsites are pretty level, and have good water pressure, depending on the site some are lightly wooded and some are full sun. The owners are on sight and are super friendly. (Even their dogs are sweet!). When we went you could only buy ice and wood as camp store was still not finished. The price on ice was average and the wood was nicely priced for a very big bundle. They have a very big koi/goldfish pond with a waterfall that is nicely landscaped. The biggest pro for us was the bathroom/shower and laundry building. I have been camping all of my life and I can honestly say that these facilities, while basic, are the cleanest of any campground I have ever been to. No dirt in the corners, no dead bugs, and clean EVERYTHING! The cons: There is not much for kids to do here. They have a sand box and large swing set and that is about it. It should also be noted that there is grass under the swing set but no sand or wood chips for fall protection. The laundry/bath/shower building is very centrally located but if you have a site near the road you have to walk fairly far around some campsites to get to it. In my opinion there should be a walkway between a few sites to make the walk far shorter. The sites are somewhat small and close together but not excessively so. The koi pond mentioned before, while beautiful, has very limited access. You can not walk around the pond on the path and you can't get right up to the pond, you have to stay on the path. My daughter and I could hear frogs calling to each other but could not get close enough to see or catch them. Overall this is an excellent campground to relax at. It is quiet, friendly and super clean. There may not be a lot for kids to do at the campsite there is a beach less than 10 minutes away and tons more to do in Two Rivers and Manitowoc. (Tour a WW II Submarine!) We will definitely be making this a regular stop during the summer. read more

Avoid this so called campground at all costs should you want to camp with a tent. Scheffel's Hideaway Campground is nothing more than a gravel parking lot with small grass patches between the spots which were primarily occupied with full sized RVs. After paying $36 to spend the night in this uninspiring spot, we had to pay 25 cents every 2 minutes to take a shower. read more

Do not bring children or teens here! Campground is OK except a bit barren and gravelly as another reviewer stated. Owners are grumpy and believe children should be seen and not heard. They wanted our teens and tweens to be confined to our campsite even though there is actually a playground on the premises. Didn't want them talking loud or jumping or running or even walking around the campground. This is at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon not at night. We got so fed up we left. The owners are on site and very helpful. I found the park to be very clean and quiet. Some sites have trees, others are open and sunny. It's an easy in and out accommodating any size rig. They have a small playground, 2 washer/dryers and 5 pay showers. I do wish they had a shrub/wall between sites for some privacy. This is a Newark so maybe privacy is in the future. We loved hearing the crickets and frogs at night. I would really recommend staying here, very peaceful. read more

Stayed here in June 2018. Camp sites are way too close together and offer very little privacy, especially if you spend any time outside your camper. Narrow roads make it very hard to get in to the back in sites. We had no shade on our camp site. Showers and bathroom were clean, but the showers take quarters (ridicilous) have no mats on the floor and the only drainage is by the shower head, so the entire floor gets extremely wet when you get dress. After getting shorts and t-shirt on, I actually went outside on the concrete sidewalk to put on socks and shoes due to it was the only dry place. Tammy was very pleasant and nice to deal with. But the gray Hell's Angel's looking bearded guy (don't know if he was hired help or one of the owners) was not only unpleasant, and but plain rude on the few times I spoke with him. He should not be working in the hospitality industry! After going over to State Park campground next door and seeing how nice that place was and with spacious sites, we really wish we had stayed there. We will not be back. read more

Stayed here in Feb. and March for work. They charged us peak summer prices during this time saying that we would run electric heaters which to keep our tanks from freezing we have to run the gas heat. They didn't take into consideration that no water or sewer were available right at the sights, you had to fill your water on the trailer so you had water in your camper. Then when you used the shower house, you had to pay again!! Ridiculous! Next time we'll just rent an apartment which we've done n the past for less and got alot more for our money. They offer nothing here. They also want everyone to keep dogs on a leash but the owners don't keep theirs tied up. Had dog droppings outside our trailer several times and no one cleaned it up! Just because working people get a per diem doesn't mean you should rip them off!! read more

my husband and I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. i didn't give it 5 stars due to lack of privacy (you are on top of each other) and dust from the road kicked up a lot, and no sewer hook up for the rv. we were worried about the noise from the county road we butted up agt but overnight it was quiet. we were glad we didn't bring our 2 doxies and a beagle since there were a lot of dogs there already . I'm sure ours would have been a nuisance since they bark at everything. showers are 25cents for 2 minutes. just not used to paying to shower. firewood was reasonable and delivered right to your site. 2 bundles was plenty for 3 nites of a modest fire each night. the pond is cute but overrated unless you can get a spot next to it. very easy access to the trail. we took our bikes to the twin rivers beach each day- easy ride for a few miles. would stay there again if we don't have the dogs. read more
