What an amazing WI DNR State Forest! Located just north of Two Rivers. You will need a WI state park sticker or you can get a one day pass. If you buy a souvenir in the park office the revenue generated stays in the park. At the entrance parking lot you can take a short sandy/boardwalk trail to the lighthouse and to the beach. The lighthouse was closed off to the public. There is a spot where you can put your phone up on a wooden stand to get a photo of yourself or group photo with lighthouse in the background. But when you get to beach head - wow! I have seen Lake Michigan from both Chicago and Milwaukee but this view of Lake Michigan is spectacular! I felt I was looking at the ocean. The park concession stand is a little further into the park. They serve breakfast, ice cream and have a Friday Fish fry. I will have to put the fish fry on my return visit in the future.

There used to be a beach.

I used to visit this 3000 acres park when I was a kid. There used to be 6 miles of beach shoreline. But these days the lake is very high and beach area is at a minimum. As a senior I can get a year pass for a mere $13. They have actually changed the use of the lodge to include more types of food and fish fries on Friday night. There is an extensive system of hiking and bicycle trails. I prefer the Ice Age Trail that runs the length of the park as bicycles are not allowed on this trail; and it is much quieter with more wildlife. There are cabins for rent year around, some are small, and some are large enough for a couple dozen people. This park is most busy during the warm months with many camping sites. A lot of them have electricity. There are ample bathrooms and hot showers are available. Hiked here on my birthday on the summer solstice saw several warbler species. There is some very cool wildlife to be seen out here. Again...use the Ice Age Trail. This is a nice park with something for the whole family. But late in the summer be prepared for voracious mosquitoes. No, the state doesn't spray insecticides all over the park. You're on your own dealing with them. You can look at the lighthouse; but you cannot go into it. The amenities make this ideal for those who prefer "glamping" over roughing it. If you want to get outside and get into the woods in a relatively safe environment, it would behoove you to go to Point Beach

This is a great park for camping, beach, lighthouse, bike trails, and nature center. I went there for the bike trail that goes 13 miles south to Two Rivers, then to Manitowoc. It follows along Lake Michigan most of the way. We rented one of their 2 cabins at $60 per night. Other then a lot of mosquito's, we had a great time.

Lighthouse hunting and the history of each lighthouse I visit is always fascinating, enriching & interesting.

There is another set of regular bathrooms at the concession stand near the middle back from the beach a ways. There is another concession stand that sells some Asian food, slushies and boba tea on one end of the beach in the parking lot. Not sure what their hours are for either place. There is a nice walking path made of blacktop I believe. People of all ages were there and many going into the water, some building castles in the sand and others floating or playing frisbee in the water. No glass containers are allowed btw. But, we carried our cooler and snacks with us. It's very clean and the sand is so soft. Popped up the umbrellas for a little shade and towels out for reading. I didn't see it but one of my kids said there is a section for dogs. I did see a sign for the regular part of the beach that said dogs allowed on a leash from 6-10 am. Easy breezy parking and lots of it including overflow parking. Parking is so close to the beach makes hauling stuff not too difficult. Had a great time and everyone was very respectful.

Probably not that bad for actual Wisconsinites. The water is always cold. There is some brisk winds that come off the lake, even in the summer. But a nice place to hang out and enjoy the day.

It continues to be a favorite spot for camping trips multiple times a year, but hot dang you have to book FAR in advance to get a site! I believe they allow you to book up to 11 months in advance, which seems crazy but trust me when I say you need to, especially for weekend or holiday dates. We camp with both an RV and tents, and are always in search of sites with electric as an option. My favorite is around the #89-92 area, but honestly you can't go wrong with most all of the sites. The grounds are extremely well-kept, and it's a delight to be tucked into the forest of trees. Tons of walking paths wind around this park too, including the beautiful dunes. Great to explore in all seasons. Various trails lead straight to Lake Michigan, where you'll find the sprawling beach of white sand. In the warm months, it's great to swim, and in the cooler months the beach is flat enough to take a nice long walk on or simply enjoy the ocean-like views. Other pros: plenty of parking for single-day visitors, a huge playground alongside the beach entrance, firewood and ice on site, an 'amphitheatre' area where events like weddings can be hosted, and it's very dog-friendly. There's nothing not to love at this gorgeous state park!

Point Creek defines the southern boundary of the property, which includes over 1,000 feet of riparian corridor." I love this place!! Little known place is a secret of locals. Outstanding birding area, mergansers offshore. Last year, while I was there, I was surrounded by dozens (yes, dozens) of golden crowned kinglets. The trails are relatively easy. The spruce forest is a haven for birds. Last fall I saw an elderly couple come out of the woods with several baskets of mushrooms. I, myself, have foraged for edible mushrooms there many times. The views from the bluff are fantastic. The beach is sandy and lonely. You will rarely encounter anyone on the trails. This is a magical, remote area that is a must visit for nature lovers. Deer, fox, porcupines, and all nature of other little critters. I will reiterate that the birding is wonderful. The area where Point Creek meets Lake Michigan is a magical place. If you want to commune with nature in a truly beautiful place, this is a hidden gem you will not want to miss. Bring someone you love, a bottle of wine, and a picnic lunch. Don't forget your binoculars.
