There is another set of regular bathrooms at the concession stand near the middle back from the beach a ways. There is another concession stand that sells some Asian food, slushies and boba tea on one end of the beach in the parking lot. Not sure what their hours are for either place. There is a nice walking path made of blacktop I believe. People of all ages were there and many going into the water, some building castles in the sand and others floating or playing frisbee in the water. No glass containers are allowed btw. But, we carried our cooler and snacks with us. It's very clean and the sand is so soft. Popped up the umbrellas for a little shade and towels out for reading. I didn't see it but one of my kids said there is a section for dogs. I did see a sign for the regular part of the beach that said dogs allowed on a leash from 6-10 am. Easy breezy parking and lots of it including overflow parking. Parking is so close to the beach makes hauling stuff not too difficult. Had a great time and everyone was very respectful.

The water is always cold. There is some brisk winds that come off the lake, even in the summer. But a nice place to hang out and enjoy the day.

A small, lakeside park just north of the marina. there is an ample parking lot and a very nice…read morebathroom facility at the north end. A couple of picnic spots and a small but nice beach area. The real attraction here is the walk on the north Manitowoc jetty. On your way to the lighthouse you will come upon a water impoundment that can be rife with shore birds. A little further on is the Paws and Play dog park. Beyond is the walk to the lighthouse. If it is windy and the surf is up you might skip the lighthouse walk because you'll get wet or worse. All in all a nice area to spend a couple of hours. Bring your binoculars and snacks. On a sunny day this can be a great day in the making. On a cold, rainy day, not so much. People in Manitowoc are usually friendly. Take the time to chat, you might make a new friend.

The lake is the main attraction, but gardens, sculptures, and waysides beckon. Highly recommend. It continues on as Rawley Point Trail to Point Beach State Park.

Apart from the cougar, I think I…read morehave almost all of these animals visit my own backyard at some point (and who knows about the cougar, there is a chance that type of kitty has visited without my knowledge). I wouldn't expect more than 30-45 minutes needed to visit. And if you have older kids, maybe not the most compelling stop. But hey, it is free (unless you give a donation, which you should do!) so I can't complain too much. It gave my family something to do for the afternoon before dinner and the zoo is part of a larger park system, so you could probably find other things to do to make it an afternoon with no fees. At least it is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature and great views of the local river!

The park is about a half acre. There is a ivied arbor which leads to a nice fountain and places to sit and watch the people go by. A walk west will take you under the 8th Street bridge to a riverside wine bar. There are several nice restaurants within a block. Probably the most active corner in town.
