This guy is a crook. I had him come around to look at our bedroom AC and he worked on completely the wrong AC outside now my daughter's AC is not working. Trying to charge me $395 to fix it when it wasn't even broken now he refuses to come back and get it working. He is the one that worked on the wrong AC and now my daughter has no AC and our one is still not fixed. This guy lies and he's a crook. read more

Apparatus Air Conditioning & Heating, Luis Gonzalez (owner) and Hector Gonzales (Uncle) did a fantastic job installing the new mini-split system in my garage. They were very careful with the installation, using protective coverings, and cleaning up afterward. The installation was perfect, and they took the time to explain how to operate the system. The professionalism and quality of work are very impressive. Attention to detail as usual. This is the second big job at my home by Apparatus Air, the first being a few years ago and 4 complete HVAC systems. Great follow up, and as always, a very competitive value too. Thank you guys! read more

I recently hired Apparatus Air to install a new HVAC at my condo unit in Cathedral Canyon. His service and personal attention to my purchase was excellent. He price for the unit was very competitive. His installation of the unit was timely and very professional. I would recommend highly Luis and his company for such a purchase and installation. read more

WOW! LOOK NO FURTHER - YOU HAVE FOUND IT! First, next to me, Luis is the nicest guy in America. He helped us several times in La Quinta and a couple times in Palm Springs. Every time I've called, he either rushed right over or was there first thing in the morning. He can fix ANY air conditioning/heating problems quite quickly. I cannot recommend Luis and his (own) company more highly. read more

Highly recommend (for years). We met Luis years ago while he was on a job for a neighbor at one of our properties. We hired him to maintain our La Quinta property next door to that neighbor and then to our Palm Springs properties (inspect, clean, service) and recently - a complete install at our home of 4 brand new complete HVAC dual cycle units, heaters, and thermostats in Rancho Mirage. Prompt and professional. Best pricing and service. Picture below of our "Before" and "After" of 3 of the 4 units (and furnaces and thermostats) replaced. They work great and our bills are lower too. read more

Luis is and has been a savior. More a super hero. When your AC goes out and you live in the desert, it's 105 degrees. It's 7:30 in the night, ... I made the call expecting to try and get next day service. My ac was working that night. His professional attitude experience and knowledge had me and family sleeping comfortably in a nice cool house. Thank you Luis and co. read more

Luis is fair, timely and always does a great job. He's installed our air conditioning, serviced it and repaired our system when needed. Conscientious workmanship. He's also a really nice guy. read more

Called Luis in the morning on an air conditioner that was blowing hot air. He came out that afternoon, diagnosed the problem and replaced a capacitor. We feel he fixed the problem in a timely manner and was easy to work with. Thank you, Luis. It's a pleasure doing business with you. read more

If your looking to get any AC job done for your house, just avoid Louis and his company. He told me he was going to come out to my house in the afternoon than cals me and says simply that he can't make it and doesn't even apologize or try to resolve the issue. He made me waste money by getting someone out to my property and he never showed up. He didn't even have the courage to call me and instead he texts my phone number telling me he won't be able to make it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

They only loose points on communication. I posted a fairly detailed description of the work I wanted done. Several contractors replied, but Luis of Apparatus Air was the first. I thought his price was fair and said go ahead, but since it was close to christmas, I stated it was not urgent. He forgot about it, and I had to contact him again. He came and did Class A quality work. He also did a couple other projects for me as well. Again, he was going to send me an estimate, and didn't until he was showing up to do the work. But he reached me, and I gave the go ahead. (since I am out of town at the moment) I asked to send photos when he billed me. He did not, and just ran my card again. I had someone else send me photos, to make sure I was happy. I was. So Like I said in the first line. He looses points on communications, but by all appearances is skilled, and charges a fair price for skilled labor. The work he did looks professional. 4 STARS! read more

Needed a whole new system including A/C, gas furnace, and condenser lines. I called several companies to bid. These guys were the cheapest and most importantly, could start the next day. I paid $8600 for everything. General Air Conditioning wanted $15,500!!! I have no idea what they install but maybe the condenser is made with titanium. Hyde Air bid a little above $9000 but they couldn't start right away, so I went with Apparatus. They came in the next day and got the install done in 2 days. They had some small left over items to finish once I finish drywall and painting and withheld $300 from the final invoice to be paid after all work is done. I thought they were fair, competent and most importantly, able to get the job done quickly and efficiently. read more

Luis and company (aka Apparatus Air) are fantastic! Really nice family run business. He installed a new AC unit in our vacation condo four years ago at a reasonable price. A part finally failed on it and Luis replaced it under warrantee, gave us discounts on labor and really is just so honest and trustworthy. He provides a good service at a good price. Most any company can provide acceptable service. But to do so and not feel like you're being overcharged or over-sold is invaluable for a homeowner. We trust Apparatus Air! read more

My AC started acting up on me on of all days Saturday night so as I tend to do now I go to YELP to find an AC repairman. I found a few but I ended up going with Luis. It was late on Saturday so I sucked it up and made an appointment with him for Sunday at 9am. He called me 1/2 hr prior as requested and was there on time. Fearing the worst as usual I was expecting something bad but it turned out to be low on freon, he added some and right away felt the difference. The things I liked about Luis is that he was there on time, was very friendly and respectful and got right down to it, found the problem and took care of it. I have now added him to my contacts on my phone to call him when the need arises. read more

Thank you Luis, I had a new a/c condenser installed. Placed the order over the phone since I'm from out of the area relied on the positive feedback from Yelp to make my decision glad I did. Unit was installed in a timely manner quality of work was excellent and the price was fair. Luis even agreed to help me with a plumbing issue without charging me extra. In my book that says a lot about the the companies philosophy. read more

Luis was recommended to me through a neighbor and I understand why. I called Luis when our 20-year old AC quit working on a Sunday evening. Luis arrived promptly at our agreed upon time on Monday and quickly diagnosed the problem. He provided some options and pricing for each, which included fixing the existing unit or replacing the unit, and the pros/cons of each. Because of the age of the unit and a compressor that was already compromised, I decided to replace it. Luis recommended a unit and said if it was in stock, he could come out the following day and install it. Normally, I would have gotten a few other bids, but I had already been doing some research and knew his price was fair. True to his word, he came out the next morning and installed the new unit and also the smart thermostat I had sitting in my closet, but hadn't gotten around to installing. I truly appreciate Luis's honesty and great service, and I won't hesitate to call him for future needs! read more

I contacted Luis at Apparatus Air Conditioning because when I purchased our home (for rental) we did not know that there was a room addition which failed to install a central air vent in that room. My tenants, understandably contacting and telling me it is hotter than Hades in that room! I contacted 3 A/C Companies., all claiming to contact in one hour and guess what? None of them did except for Apparatus! They made the appointment and installed new duct work and vent for that unbearable room. Thank you Luis and Apparatus for getting to me in a timely manner both phoning and job completion, with a good price. You did an incredible job and you will be my new A/C company in the area. read more

Luis was called in the afternoon on Saturday about heating issue I had with my airbnb home in laquinta cove. He was at my house in about an hour and a 1/2, and knew exactly what needed to happen. We have rental properties in Indio and today was one of the hottest of the year. Our tenant called to say that their unit wasn't working properly and we were 3 hours away so we couldn't go and check it out. We called a few AC companies but Apparatus was the most responsive. They informed me they'd be at the property in about an hour and sure enough they showed up around an hour later. They did repairs with some electrical problems the unit was having, called me and everything was settled over the phone. I asked for an email receipt and received by the end of the day. They saved us a day long trip and they were professional, courteous and quick--and I know they were busy! I really appreciated the quick response. So glad I found this company. Hopefully no more AC problems but it's nice to know we have a company we can trust. read more

This Company can not respond to perform "real work" or emergency repairs on weekends. Makes you wait until Monday to replace a compressor. KEEP SHOPPING! I just found another Company who has the needed parts. I love the owner's response "Competitor stop"..shows his level of care. I got his number from Yelp on Friday afternoon, contacted him, got a fair response time and his agreement to come "Check it out". When I explained to him it was probably a burned out compressor (burning smell), he responded by saying he won't be able to get "those kind of parts" until Monday. However, he'd be happy to come out and give me a "free estimate" on Monday. We didn't need him on Monday, we needed him NOW, as my elderly mother was suffering without any A/C! Thus, Apparatus Air does not "truly" offer "Emergency service", just lip service! We eventually contacted another yelper, Comfort Air, who came right out, diagnosed the problem AND gave us a temporary A/C unit, so my mother and her small kitty could survive during this heat wave! Our New A/C is being installed tomorrow! All I can say is, Apparatus Air needs to learn how to properly deal with customer emergency needs. All we wanted is our mother to be able to survive during the heat...all he thought about was getting parts he can't afford to keep readily available. Keep shopping for someone who actually cares and can keep needed parts on hand. read more

I highly recommend this family owned business! Luis and his service technician arrived 30 minutes early (when does that happen? Awesome!), got right to work, diagnosed what was wrong with my system and fixed it before 9am. Louis from Apparatus was very responsive for an early Saturday morning call. My heating system had quick working Friday night and house was cold. Louis came out within about 1 hour. He diagnosed the problem and got my heater working temporarily for the weekend. He advised it needed certain new parts and quoted me the price and said he would be back on Monday. He arrived Monday, with the new parts, installed and even troubleshot more minor problems; which he also fixed for no additional charge. My first impression of Louis is one of honesty. He is also friendly and personable. His prices are reasonable and he does the job, he sets out to do. I would highly recommend Apparatus for anyone needing servicing on a/c and heating units. Thank you Louis! read more

Prompt service on a Sunday! We were concerned that it would be an expensive job as air conditioning stopped working and we had company visiting and needed it fixed quickly. Louis came out and he promptly diagnosed the issue saying it needed a part replaced and that compressor was fine. We were relived with the honesty. He and his team didn't try to upsell us anything. The total cost to us was fair and reasonable given it was a Sunday. He charged us $100 for the Sunday service call plus part and labor. All in all we would recommend apparatus air and use them again if needed. read more

I would like to add that when I started looking for the right air conditioning company, I had had unhappy experiences with the companies my homeowners policy had sent me. I was so grateful to discover Luis and his son, and the reviews here helped me find them, so thanks to yelp for providing this forum too! Luis and his son, after installing my new ac, came out again to my place when my thermostat was reading quite a few degrees higher than what I'd set the ac control temperature at. Although it felt quite cool and comfortable, I knew the thermostat (which was old) was not working properly. I emailed Luis and he responded right away, setting a time to come to my place to take a look at it. His son Luis Jr. discovered with his temperature-reading gauge that the ac was indeed working properly, and that the actual temperature inside my place was quite cool, as it felt. But the thermostat was not working properly, Luis Sr., instead of trying to sell me a new thermostat, figured out that the wall which the thermostat was mounted on was heating up from the warm outside air that flowed from the attic in the closet behind that wall. He simply moved the thermostat around the corner of that wall which was cool to the touch. My thermostat now works like a champ and I was also grateful to know that that wall wasn't heating up from any kind of electrical problems, but simply from the attic air which gets quite hot as it warms up moving towards summer. They did not charge me for this service call, and considered it part of taking care of a customer who had bought a new ac unit recently. I'm grateful to be dealing with a family-owned company who truly does care about being of service, and whom I know I can rely on to seek to find the right solutions for the customers they serve! I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a good, knowledgeable company with integrity. read more

We bought a repo in Telavera and through our inspection we found out that the builders left one air conditioning vent open in the attic instead of connecting it to a register. We called Luis at Apparatus and he was on it the day we called him. He was quick, efficient and very friendly. He did not charge us an outrageous fee. He was very reasonable. We were impressed and had him do a tune up on our new home and our rental in Indio. Now Two weeks later our rentals blower fan broke and once again we called Luis and he was able to get over there that day. He went above and beyond helping us since the part was not easy to find because of the age and size of the fan. It was fixed that day and the tenants were able to stay home that night. Thank you Luis! I do recommend Apparatus Air Conditioning to everyone. read more

after being advised it was possible house would need to be raised from its foundation to replace the ducting, after a routine a/c installation, and continuing duct repair, a second opinion was thought advisable and sought. another firm evaluated existing ducting, finding it not repairable and needing replacement -- all done without raising house from its foundation. a request for reimbursement of duct repair monies not honored by apparatus. association with apparatus was thru a personal "a-ok" referral. read more

Once again I called the guys at Apparatus and they had a thorough look at my old clunker A/C unit. They suggested I upgrade to a new and more efficient model. I went all out and got a 24.5 sear Maytag unit. My electric bills dropped dramatically and my electric bill is estimated to be around $350 per YEAR!! I can't believe how happy I am that I have them to depend on. I have another A/C unit that services the other half of the house. "...Luis decided to focus on customer service and satisfaction..." I had a very different experience from Luis then what is described on the website. Now it would appear that he is not honest either. Luis came out and did a service call in Feb 2016. I know they put Freon in my unit. In June when it got hot, I turned out A/C on and it made a very loud noise. I had looked up the problem and found that it may have too much Freon in it. I called again and they came out, confirmed what I had thought and went about their merry way. No charge for coming out the second time. I called Luis Gonzalez who was very argumentative about reimbursing me money for over charging my Freon as they do charge by how much they put in your systems. I tried to ask him several times and he would not even allow me to ask him my question. I was never rude or cursed at him nor did i raise my voice to show my displeasure. He insisted that I find my previous invoice to ask for reimbursement that way. He was very argumentative again and insisted that "He" did me a favor by coming back out and not charging me for the second service call from the overcharging my Freon in my A/C. I posed the question to Luis Gonzalez again, "You can reimburse me for charging me for the excess Freon and get future business, or you can keep the $30-$40 worth of Freon that you put in my system. His response, "Find your invoice." That tells me he doesn't care much for customer service as is stated in the opening paragraph of his website. He knowingly and willingly kept my money that I paid for Freon that my system did not need. Then argued with me as to who should be reimbursed. And he acted like he did me a favor because he did not charge me for coming back to my residence to fix his previous blunder. read more
