Apollo Park Condominium complex definitely needs some updating décor-wise, and we had a few issues- a missing drinking glass in the kitchen, a popped out window screen in the bedroom, and a broken lock on the patio sliding door, but you absolutely cannot beat the location!! Those few minor inconveniences definitely do not outweigh the awesome location.
It's just a few minutes' walk to Ford Park- where the Gerald R. Ford amphitheatre, Betty Ford Gardens, a nature trail & museum, beautiful open space, &children's playground, among many other amenities, are located.
Tennis courts are close by and easily accessible by walking. The whole town of Vail is so walking friendly. There's also a free hybrid/electric shuttle that circulates the Vail Village into Lionshead Village. There's a shuttle stop at the end of the trail just west of Apollo Park, before you cross the street.
Gore Creek runs through Vail, and it's the most soothing lovely little waterway. Open your windows and enjoy the soothing sound. Also open your windows because there's no AC at Apollo Park! When these condos were built, there wasn't as much need for AC in the warmer months, but hello global warming! They provide a large box fan to the unit, but I recommend taking extras if you have room in your luggage. They really need to install ceiling fans in the unit!!!
I learned to back float in this pool when I was in 5th grade, and it's still a great pool, very well maintained over the years. It's heated, which is really nice. It's big enough to do laps in, and it doesn't go over 5 feet at any point, so it's very kid-friendly. There are many tables, chairs, loungers, and umbrellas so you can just lie back, relax and enjoy Vail's gorgeous blue skies.
I've stayed at Apollo Park in all seasons, ski season and not. I love that it's easily accessible from the highway and anywhere in Vail. Despite the need for some updating, which I hope they do, I'll keep coming back over and over and over. read more
