The owner, Alex, is a nice dude, but a poor communicator. My laptop was having crashes, and I…read moredropped it off in early June for troubleshooting/diagnosis. I called after several weeks and he promised he'd have the problem diagnosed within the next couple days and call me back. Several additional weeks went by and I called again with the same response, and then once more a few weeks later- a total of 2 months of wait time without any progress or evidence that anything was done at all. I eventually gave up and got my laptop back myself to look at. Googling my error messages indicated that my RAM was faulty, and after replacing the RAM (a 15-minute procedure), my laptop works fine. It took me ~30 minutes of total active time to troubleshoot and solve this problem that I had previously waited 2 months for the owner to fix. I'd guess that Alex was overcommitted with fixing other machines to focus on mine, which is fine if he told me a realistic estimate (i.e. "I'm really busy right now, but check back in a month and I'll give you an update). Instead I got drip-fed inaccurate timeline estimates. Overall, I find it difficult to reccomend going to this business to get your problem fixed unless you have a really easy software issue to diagnose/fix on the spot.

Honest guy, great service, great price…read more My laptop crashed after a nasty virus and I didn't get a chance to back up my files. I thought I would never recover my files b/c I couldn't get my laptop to start up after multiple attempts. I went Best Buy geek squad first, and they quoted me a ridiculous amount of money just for a diagnostic and then another ridiculous amount for data recovery. And they said data recovery wasn't even a guarantee, but I would still have to pay for the diagnostic. It was a rip off, considering I could just buy a brand new laptop with the amt of money they were charging me...and all I wanted was my lost data. I looked up local computer repair shops, and I ran into My IT Mouse. I was surprised how quickly and easily he recovered my data, and he only charged about $50 at that time. He asked if I wanted to revive my laptop for an additional small fee, but I ended up declining the offer b/c I realized it was time to buy a new laptop anyways, since the other one was old. I

I met the guy a bunch of times during the course of 6 weeks, he was either super polite or super annoyed (probably because I was rushing him to do it faster), which was also weird. These guys saved me a couple hundred bucks!…read more My laptop wouldn't reliably charge and I was 99% certain the problem was with the charger port and not the charger. I was prepared to face expensive repairs or even buy a new laptop. I brought it in and they ascertained that the problem was the charger, and that the computer was in fine shape, and they located the right replacement and charged me only $25! Now, the charger l had been using was not the original one. I had bought it at Best Buy, after doing research online and making certain that it was the right one. Turns out it was not only not the right shape, it was too many volts. Moral: if you're having charger troubles, take your device in to a neighborhood repair shop like this one. Don't go to a big box store, don't shop online, don't act like you know what you're doing unless you KNOW you know what you're doing. The guys at Broadway Computers spent over half an hour looking for exactly the right charger, and they didn't even charge for labor. I think l actually spent less at Broadway Computers than I did at Best Buy, and for MUCH better service. If you live in Edgewater/Roger's Edge, you should check this place out!

Machero should be rated as Chicago's best Mac repair store…read more Its a class act like this among all the sneaky ones in the world that reaffirm there are good, decent, and honest people left in this world. My Mac's screen sizzled and then went dead after some water damage. I took the Mac to Apple and off course those self serving geniuses immediately told me my Mac is history and I would need to rebuild the entire circuit board for 900.00 or get a new computer. I was bummed and did nothing for month until I realized there is life outside apple care. So I called a few places on yelp and didn't get some good vibes. Most of them wanted to charge me non refundable fees to see if they can fix it and some over the phone also said i needed a new circuit board. So my intuition told me to call Machero and they told me to bring it in for free estimate, no obligation. I figured worse case they would tell me what the others did about a circuit board. An hour after I brought it in, Gino tells me the only thing that was damaged was some memory chips and he can repair everything for under $100.00 total. Now, let me reiterate. I know as much about Macs as I do about astrophysics so he could have told me the bogus b.s. the other places told me and taken me to the cleaners Instead, his focus was on me as a person, not me as a number, or a receipt. Maybe if more businesses and their owners were as decent and ethical as he was, they'd be in business and not part of our financial fiasco. So let me save you time and money and headaches. Be like NIKE: Don't think, just do it, and if you have a Mac issue, bring it in for some real people skills in fixing your mechanical ones.

Gino and I got in touch because of an event I was running for FreshBooks. I needed a space and wanted to spend as little money as possible. I reached out to some of our customers in Chicago and Gino was SO awesome to get back to me super quickly and offer up his space to host our workshop. He worked with me to secure catering, audio-visuals and anything else I needed. Srsly -- ANYTHING! I needed a bunch of chairs and rental places weren't down with renting only 50. He got in touch with a nearby church and helped us arrange a donation to its after school program. AND helped me carry and drive over the chairs throughout one of the city's first snowfalls of the year. Incredible. Gino was the best host ever and I'm basically spoiled for out-of-town events for the rest of my life. Best dude. Best.

We ran several diagnostic tests and they all pointed to a FAILING HARD DRIVE. We found Computerzone USA on YELP and called and was told by the owner Sultan Shariff to come in anytime for a hard drive replacement - for which he quoted a price. Upon pick up we noticed several files missing and most other files, pictures, and on-screen icons all jumbled - nor could we open our voluminous MS Outlook. Yikes - so much stress! Best I could tell, he tried to install some upgraded software that caused that problem. He quickly volunteered to fix it upon returning the computer next day and to mirror the EXACT INSTALLATION we had previously. His second try worked flawlessly, everything worked EXACTLY AS BEFORE, no more jumbled or missing files ... all resulting in this MOST HAPPY CUSTOMER.
