I have been coming to this place for a few years now. They have become so great over the years.....Sunny is an amazing person and always greets all the clients with a smiling face. I get the gel Overlay here and my favorite staff are Linda and Angela! I just got my nails done for the holiday season and the green "cat-eye" is awesome. I used to go to Aphrodite's other location at Shops of Don Mills when I worked in the area. Fast forward three years - I was grocery shopping and noticed that there was another Aphrodite in Leaside Village. Service is great; staff all speak English to each other even though English isn't their native language. The salon is chic with a very fresh and modern look, just sitting and staring at the walls can be relaxing. Prices are average - not too expensive, but not overly cheap as well. I still love NailSense, but if I can't get a mani-pedi-waxing in one go, I'll check to see if Aphrodite is available. Good for: pampering, relaxing, hanging out with girlfriends read more

I just got my Shellac manicure done from here. They rushed me to pick my colour the girl who was doing it was rushing it. I kept telling her to file them again and again. Salon was very clean, large, and bright. Ladies who took care of us were friendly and fun. However, that's the end if the cons. My mom and I both had a shellac manicure and a basic pedicure for $70 (per person). I was immediately aware that both ladies were generally carrying out different functions of a usual basic manicure. Shellac nails appeared to be same procedures. In less than one week, both of our shellac polish had started to peel. As well, the skin around my cuticles has become shredded (for lack of a better word) and each night I have to trim the extra skin away. For $200 (includes tips), we would never go back to this salon. I should have paid attention to the negative reviews I read in the first place! read more

I was a walk-in to Aphrodite today at 3:02 PM, looking for a Shellac manicure, and a regular pedicure. As it's Sunday afternoon, I expected it to be busy and to either have to wait or be told to come back another day . There was one woman waiting ahead of me - the salon owner said that it would be a 10-15 minute wait. Great, fine. Another woman came after me, requesting the exact same services as me with no appointment. 20 minutes later, both of those women had been started and the salon employee then came to me and asked me to choose my polish colour. Strike One. I asked the manager if they were busy that day, because I was ok with coming back another time - she said "No, it's fine". My spidey senses still tingled. Through my pedicure, I noticed 3 other groups of people come in and 2 individuals and the salon manager accommodate them by either telling them to come back or wait. Halfway through my pedicure, the manager came to ONLY me and said that she wasn't able to do my manicure that day or put polish on my toes, and I would have to leave ASAP, because they were "too busy" and they would have to prioritize appointments -- even though they were open for another 3+ hours. Strike Two. I asked her why me and not any of the other walk-ins that had come before or after me -- and she just continued to blandly apologize. The whole thing made me angry and wondering if she was discriminating against me, being the only young-presenting WOC in the salon at the time. When my poorly done, no-polish pedicure was completed, the manager had the balls to charge me $38.50 with no apologies, discount for future services or acknowledgement of the poor service. Strike Three+++. It is disingenuous to start a service you can't fulfill, to not give me the option to leave before you start or choose which service I wanted to do if the time was limited. To then insist I pay full price with no abatement for me being treated so poorly and having my time wasted, just tops the whole thing off as one of the worst salon experiences of all time. Buyer beware doesn't even begin to describe it . . . Take your money elsewhere. read more

I legitimately have no idea what I paid $40 for. This was by far the worst most rushed manicure I've ever had. They removed my gel, but also not really bc it's still on there. They did a 'manicure' and by that I mean they flew through and chipped away at my cuticles so badly that they're running not even an hour later, the entire 'manicure' took 5 mins...I timed it. I went in for a Shellac manicure; my manicurist was really lovely, and spent a lot of time making sure my nails were even and matched on each hand. However, after 1 week it started to peel from the bottom, by the cuticle. I resisted peeling it all off, but after 1.5 weeks I had to, it was getting to be a nuisance. My "shellac" peeled off very easily, leading me to believe it may have been diluted or not actually shellac polish. I've had shellac manicures from other salons last me 4+ weeks without any chipping or peeling. read more

The best nail salon I have ever been to. Not the cheapest but A+ for perfection and cleanliness. The girls are always so nice and their colour selection is extensive. If I could give this salon zero stars, I would!! I sent my wife to get her nails done for her birthday, and in all the years I've been doing so, It has never cost 67$! I figured the high price would mean good quality and I wanted her to be happy, but I was VERY wrong. Within two weeks of having them done, they started to crack and break off in chunks!! I was excited to try this place out on recommendation of a friend who lives in the area. Went and asked about the "spa pedicure" that was listed at $27. I confirmed the price with the woman that greeted me and she said~ yes $27 spa pedicure. The price was compatible to prices at other salons I'd been to, so I went for it. Keeping in mind I was a new walk in client, I wasn't sure what to expect but was hopeful. First off the massage chair was having issues. The woman was kind enough to fiddle with it a few times & get it to work, which was awesome. The actual pedicure itself was good. Nothing spectacular, but good. I was pleased, at the time being. The girl doing the pedicure barely said a word to me, but that's totally ok as I was relaxed and enjoying the pampering. Now I'd had spa pedicures before at the price range of $25-$30 and they included the usual foot treatments, polish, paraffin.... All in the spa pedicure. Since there usually isn't a breakdown of the service on the price list, you assume you're getting what you pay for right? Well I was clearly wrong.... Instead of $27 plus Tax for the spa pedicure ($30.51) it somehow came to $42.75. Clearly I was confused at the price, only to be told EXTRAS COST EXTRA. Ummm what extras? And why wasn't I told IN ADVANCE that this particular portion was an extra, so I had the option of agreeing to it, or saying no thanks. That's what bothers me, that they did NOT give me an option, nor did they even tell me prior to starting and even during... That it would be an additional cost. That made me feel SCAMMED big time!!!! I told the woman I'd only agreed to the $27 spa pedicure and even asked her the price before starting. That this extra cost wasn't something I agreed to. She stood there silent waiting for me to pay, so not like I had a choice obviously. I left very annoyed and despite the actual pedicure itself being good, I'd NEVER go back again!!!! BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE not telling a new client, that was obviously unfamiliar with services at this salon!!! All it would have taken, was to let me know in advance that this (particular service) was at an additional cost. That's not too much to ask at all!! I have been coming to Aphrodite in Leaside since it opened, and I have to say - I have never loved a nail salon as much as this one! The staff are always friendly and attentive, I have never had a problem with making an appointment, and the staff are always looking to make you happy. I even brought my massive bridal party here for our Mani-Pedi and everyone came out of the salon looking like a million bucks! It is a little bit more expensive than other salons (not a BIG difference) but the quality, and cleanliness they deliver is well worth the couple extra dollars. read more

I went to this salon the Thursday night before my wedding to get same gel nails and a pedicure done. My pedicure was not great at all and my nails were ok. To be honest I should have said something then and there. But I thought it would be okay. By Friday morning two of my nails broke. Which is crazy. I called them and the person I spoke with on the phone was apathetic and after arguing with them for what seemed like 15 min with out a solution. I hung up and went to a local place in my neighbourhood. They called. Ack a number of times. But I didn't pick up. They even called my maid of honour and told her that because I was a nail biter that I did this myself, which is insane as I have only been to this place once. And regardless I am a grown woman and I would have not bitten my nails right off! I do not recommend this place at all! read more

Convenient to the new-ish Longo's in Leaside. Not the cheapest pedicure but not as expensive as upscale spas downtown. This was one of the most meticulous pedicures I've had, including at more expensive places. Cindy took her time to ensure the polish was applied perfectly. They have a fairly good selection of OPI colours. Time will tell how long this pedicure lasts, but I was very impressed on Cindy's attention to detail. read more

I have been here so many times over the last few years and they are good but not consistent. They have experienced and inexperienced girls so it really depends who you get. If you are able to make an appointment with the person of your choice I recommend you do so. I once had a girl who cut off a big hunk of my big toe and I bled and it was a painful experience. Dont ask me why but I do keep going back there. There are for the most part very good. But you need to be aware that there are inexperienced people at times working there. read more

Got a mani-pedi here a couple months ago, and only after receiving a terrible manicure at a different spot do I realize what a gem Aphrodite is! I got vinyllux nail polish which lasted a little over a week, but the person who shaped my nails did such an amazing job that my nails still looked good (even without polish) a few weeks later! First time visiting Aphrodite and it was very enjoyable. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I am breast feeding my infant son and he needed to eat in the middle of my mani/pedi...they let me take a break, gave me a private room and helped me carry my bags so I could feed him. They gave me the time with some privacy and were very courteous. I will definitely go back for another mani/pedi. read more

After 7 days the polish on my pedi has chipped and peeled. My pedis typically last a month or more when done elsewhere. This validates for me that the quality of the pedi at Aphrodite isn't worth it at any cost. read more

Horrible results. The tools from this establishment gave me a virus on a number of my fingers and toes, causing me to have extreme pain and use antibiotics. I am very disappointed by this and encourage all to avoid this nail salon as it poses a number of health risks. read more

Never again!! The first time I came here the manicure and shellac job wasn't the best job and she took forever... I thought okay I'll give them another try. Today I asked for a manicure and pedicure. One girl was working on my feet and another on my hands but there was no water for my feet!! She took the polish off and started filing and cutting. I said "what kind of pedicure is this?" She said you asked for polish change. I told her I definitely did not and after some fumbling she said she could do a pedicure. I haven't been to this location in a couple of years, but recently went for a pedicure. I was very disappointed in the service. The person working on me was very unfriendly (did not smile and made me feel like she didn't want to work on my feet... and my feet are not weird or gross, I swear) I had some old nail polish (not gel or shellac) on and when it did not immediately come off with the nail polish remover, the staff person jumped straight to roughly filing the nail polish off my toe nails, damaging my nails below and complaining under her breath. She did not perform a foot massage (guess that's not included anymore). She switched my colour for a similar colour without bothering to ask me (she mentioned at the beginning that the colour I chose wasn't opaque and may not be the best choice. She did not apply a top coat to my polish. She did not check on me after I sat on under the drying station. When I finished and paid at the front, that staff person yelled across to the person who did my nails the amount of tip I left for her (I appreciate the transparency but this is a bit awkward). Yuck. I stopped going to this place because I felt like I was doing THEM a favour by going there. Then, on a Sunday I really needed my nails cut and the shellac removed. My regular place is closed Sundays in winter., so I decided to go to #Aphrodite. They have at least 5 different sorts of polishes, all of which have different pricing and different life spans, which is confusing - especially if you're on a budget. And they are #less than #helpful with the costing. They don't have any electric devices to help loosen the shellac, so I sat for 10 minutes with my fingers soaking in polish remover. Gina was the person who did my nails. She was a #bitch, for starters, kept trying to position my hand / fingers in a way that was contorted for me, and she #hacked my #cuticles. She did not say thank you for the tip I left her and when I got home hours later, not only did my polish chip, the corresponding NAIL flaked off, which caused the #polish to #chip. I detest this place, and with all the other options in the #Leaside area, I'll never go there again.
