An estimate was given about 1 month ago. We scheduled a date to have 4 trees removed, we paid our deposit (with final payment due after work was done). An email was sent about 2 days out to confirm time and who will come. Three guys showed up around 9:30 am. They surveyed what was to be done, started work, cleaned up and were done in about 2 1/2 -3 hours! They didn't play around! Everyone we worked with from the estimator, the office administrator and the crew who actually came to cut the trees were friendly and courteous. These guys are so quick to want to go home instead of actually doing any work. A full day of work for them with showing up around 9:30 and working till about 3, because they wanted to be home by 5. they were supposed to come back again for a half day....that turned into working about an hour and a half. The job I had was supposed to only last one day. It's day 3 now and they left after a 2.5 hours...and they are not done yet. I called the office to have them come back to actually finish cutting the trees. The office staff seems to be not in touch with the work that these guys are doing and these guys are taking advantage of that. read more

Apex was recommended to me by my neighbor and good friend so I thought I would give them a shot. The bid was fair for the removal of a 80 year old+ cherry tree in my back yard. The tree was surrounded by fences, a shed, trampoline and an old large rhododendron and had a telephone line running through it. We had a big job--they had 2 huge alder clumps to cut down and then cut into rounds, and 3 monster size alders near our back fence and neighbor's yard. To make things more challenging, we have a boggy area that they had to work around, and multiple garden areas around the trees that had several very valuable japanese maples. The crew did a great job. Not a single japanese maple was harmed. I don't know how they know exactly how to drop the trees with such precision. As several people have mentioned, the crew is friendly, and checked with us several times to make sure which plants we were really concerned about saving. I think that their bid was commensurate with the others we had do estimates, and they were reasonable, clean, thorough and careful. read more

Beware of the dog poo. All kidding aside they have a charge if you don't clean up the dog poo before they get there. More on that later. The owner came out and did a bid, said his secretary would call me and schedule. What he didn't tell me is he was three weeks out, I called because I had limbs falling off tree and wanted them out ASAP. I told secretary that, she said she would try to find an earlier date and call me back, she never called back. On the day they were supposed to be there the wind was bad, but I had dog poo cleaned up for their visit. An hour after we're supposed to arrive they called and cancelled. Understandable but I think they could have called earlier. They rescheduled for a couple days later. As this was last minute I did not have time to clean dog poo, so they charged me 150 for dog poo. I argued the point to no avail, but no luck, they stuck too it. In addition the stumps were still there, evidently this is a separate visit, didn't tell me that at time of bid or when scheduling. There was damage to my deck and garden sprinkler, after I showed pictures they offered to take the dog poo charge off, which I felt was unjustified as they were the ones who rescheduled. One of their workman also left his coffee cup on my BBQ, guess I should send a bill for 150 to clean that up. Stump grinder finally showed days later without notice. I finally just gave up and asked how to pay with credit card, at which time I was informed that they charge an additional 2% for credit cards. Great. So that was my experience. Take from it what you will. All in all it delayed building my greenhouse a month. Just a small amount of working to satisfy the customer goes a long ways with me, I didn't see much here. read more

I know I've posted a few reviews on tree and landscape folks. Just recently, we needed a maple tree pruned, thinned and shaped. We received estimates all over the map even from people we had done business with before. It was feeling hard to know who to trust with this sort of (more precision) tree care... since it wasn't exactly like taking out the tree or other landscape services. Apex was new to us, but I saw and read all the positive reviews. I cannot agree with the high praises more! Dan was quick to call after I left my info through their website. He came over and was a pleasure to speak with - very knowledgeable and friendly. They were able to get out that week and did a fantastic job! The crew was very friendly, neat, and contentious of neighbors. AMAZING! John spent the better part of today in the 85 year-old oak tree in our front yard and I have to say, we now have the most beautiful tree in Tacoma. Our street of older homes is known for its fabulous trees, but ours now stands out as the most beautiful among them all. On the day of appointment, nobody showed up. We had tried to call multiple times to figure out whether they would be coming. And there was no answer and no reply. These guys came and removed a huge old pine tree that was leaning over the house. They did fast, careful work and left the area very tidy when they were through. They brought the tree down with no damage to any of the surrounding structures, and they even avoided damage to the grape arbor that was under the tree. They will meet or beat estimates from any licensed, bonded and insured company. They do tree removal, pruning, storm cleanup, even animal rescue :) read more

Great experience with Apex! They were very professional and knowledgeable throughout the process. Dan was very responsive to calls and emails and his team, especially Ryan, was wonderful. We had several quotes from tree trimming companies and they had the best price by far. They cleaned up the trees and shrubs in our property and although we didn't pay extra to "clean up" the limbs, they hid them in the underbrush and over the bank so well that it looked amazing afterwards. started out thrilled to work with this group. Their staff was friendly and helpful in the bidding process. I was so thankful to find them. Then came the day of service. I was gone at work when they came and was at my house for 2 hours max. I was so excited to come home and see the improvements and I could not even tell what was done and for spending 2400.00 that was concerning. I walked the house and was finally able to identify the few branches on trees that were removed but all the bushes around my house were not trimmed like they were supposed to be. I had a huge party to host that week so I trimmed all the bushes myself, and that following week, I reached out to them letting them know I was unhappy. Because I had such a great experience I didn't think for a second that they would make it right. They seemed eager to fix it and said if I have before and after pictures then they can look at offering a partial refund. I did not take pictures and therefore they stuck with my $2400.00 bill and in their positive customer service voice told me they completed the scope of work and will not offer a refund. They ended up taking $75 off my bill. I have written maybe two other poor reviews in my life and am so disappointed this experience turned out so poorly. read more

I was going to give Apex a 5 for the work they did taking down my trees. But cleanup has been a real hassle, and the final result is a lot of mess for our family yet to go clean up. The hauling of the largest parts of the trunk was sub-contracted out by Apex to another guy who clearly did not understand that when say you're coming on a certain day, the customer expects you. First he came 3 days late, but forgot his tools, so told me he'd be back in 2 days. He didn't show, so we called Apex, which by now was probably our 5th call back to them, and they got him to commit to coming the next day. All in all, we were first told the by the guys who cut down the tree that the hauler would be there that same day, within a few hours of them leaving. Dan called later and said within 2-3 days. In reality the tree was finally hauled out of here 9 days later. I hate to not give a good review based on a sub-contractor, but Apex ought to take responsibility for the quality of "professional" they are working with to do jobs for them. Because the hauling was done so much later, there was no crew left here for a final cleanup and there are sticks and twigs EVERYWHERE which we will have to rake and have a friend with a truck come by so that we can haul it to a yard waste dump. Given that this was a fairly expensive job (over a thousand dollars), that is disappointing to me. So, if you are looking to have a tree taken down, they do a really good job at that part. But hope that it's all stuff they can take with them that day or you could have a mess on your hands to deal with for a few weeks. I am not sure that we will use Apex again (and we will need more tree work next year). read more
