The only feedback upwards to Toll design operations at the corporate level is the lack of customization of packages that are offered or the flexibility in selection. We got most of what we wanted but hoped there were more personalization options, especially with the claim that this builder is a design forward, luxury builder. Luxury should encompass a sense of personalization as much as it should offer convenience! But I don't reflect that feedback back to the actual studio itself. I would recommend that you break your visit up into two sessions if possible because there are a lot of decisions that you have to make. We liked having that break which gave us some time to think about some of the decisions we made and how that might affect some of the decisions that we need to make at the 2nd appointment. Would definitely also recommend that you hit YouTube an/or Pintrest to help get ideas for when you might like/want before you get there. If you go there without any idea of what you want, it could be a loooong day. Our design consultant Erika was outstanding!! She was awesome to work with. Road rage comes in all shapes and forms but to have road rage while on the job, driving a company car (a company which looks like good quality) is unacceptable!! When we were finally able to merge into the lane, he tried to cut us off again, then tried to block us in, and then tried speeding off. In a company work truck for crying out loud!! We were able to capture a video and the license plate. I feel like we were targeted because of the kind of car that we were in (a performance vehicle) and he was just a miserable human being. Unless he's a die hard "same day cabinets" employee that believes in cutting all corners to rush into delivering these cabinets even if it means "somebody dies type of day", his evil behavior is unjustified. I'm grateful to be alive. I apologize to this company for this rating because it has nothing to do with the quality of your business but I have to rate it a zero for employing such a dangerous person. He needs to be fired. We would have filed a police report but it was my friend's birthday and calling the business itself to report the incident to the manager was enough. The nice woman who answered appeared sympathetic and apologized. We were told that the driver would be addressed. He looked like he was someone's nephew or son so I'm sure that he'll just get a slap on the wrist. I hope he stays off the road and I'm sure karma will teach him a lesson one day, some day. Her business model is to pay for services before they are rendered which naturally inspires distrust on both ends. as a multi property owner who works with contractors frequently, this is an unusual and shady business practice. A deposit is even more reasonable than requiring an invoice to be paid in full, however, in the interest of time, we agreed to pay for each service as we go with the understanding that the work would be complete. The first service was the caulking of the bathroom. We paid in full up front only to arrive and realize the work was incomplete and sloppy. The shower floors were caulked using a white paint that did not match the original colors. So when she requested we pay for then next service (painting) fee up front, we explained that we would like some sort of guarantee that the work will be completed, which is reasonable considering the first service was not completed. Her response? "He will complete the shower when he returns to paint- Who said he was done?!" To which I shared with her the email where she clearly states the work was completed. Instead of her taking accountability for the inconsistencies in her own statements, her response is, "I'm not going back and forth with you!" Yes. I can't make this stuff up. That same day, we were instructed to move all furniture to the center of the room in preparation for the painting all for the no one to show up and no response from her. Mind you, we had to vacate the unit in order for the contractor to work. Fortunately we have another apartment across town but Imagine if we were in hotel, we would've put ourselves in a deeper financial hole all because she didn't "feel like going back and forth" and stopped responding completely. On top of telling us she doesn't have time to go back and forth she would constantly over share "I took time out of my busy week when I had twins graduating next week, am a single mom etc etc" it's just wildly unprofessional and should not take away from your accountability and professionalism as a business owner. We were constantly cut off and talked over. Our concerns were frequently ignored or dismissed with comments like "darling, don't worry your pretty little head" and "I have been doing this for years". Incredibly condescending and patronizing when you could simply just provide us with the guarantees we are asking for. I have never been so disrespected as a customer, yet had to bite my tongue because we were at her mercy. We were really excited to be supporting a black owned business but clearly no good deed goes unpunished. I truly believe she has a talent with staging but talent does not equate to business savviness. Enrolling in business courses would benefit her and future clients greatly.

This is not the issue I have with them by the way. (I also need to preface by saying I have a background in construction, so I know how to speak the language and I know how to calculate very well material, labor, overhead, profit, etc.) When I met the gentleman from AGR, I told him exactly what I needed for my deck project (size, material, requirements, etc.). He informed me he needed to come back with an Architect just to give me a quote; none of the other 7 other contractors needed to do this, by the way. I asked him for a ballpark, because if his number was say $30k, there would be no sense in wasting both his and my time (I literally made up an astronomical number). He informed me quickly that it would be At Least $30k, immediately spouting off how much an Architect would cost, drawings, etc. I kindly told him that the 7 other contractors I got quotes from were all in the $15k range. He seemed surprised and informed me I should make sure they include everything and are licensed, etc. (for the record, the other companies were all reputable, licensed, bonded, and insured companies) This was not an abrasive interaction. The gentleman was polite, but this is your very typical "look at the neighborhood and try to take a customer for all their worth" contractor, not by honest or quality work. I went in to using the services for what was starting off as a small renovation and finished as a great improvement. My Grandfathers 1955 home was in need of some freshening up and the new flooring that Skill installed brought the house back to life with some great personality and really updated this aging house without having to do really too much. They were great at keeping things simple and easy as well as getting the job done quickly so as to not have to cause my grandpa any inconvenience. I would highly recommend for any size project big or small.
