Surprised my wife with a helicopter tour for her birthday. The location was easy to get to at West…read moreHouston Airport and the pre-flight preparation process is simple (which I really just watching a 5-minute information video). The helicopter is small (it can only fit two passengers in the back in addition to the two front seats for the pilot(s), so you will definitely feel all the wind vibrations/turbulence. However, the noise isn't that loud (even without the ear protection). There is also no air conditioning, so it can get hot in the summer time, although there is still air flowing through from the spaces in between the windows/doors and the flights are no more than 20 minutes no matter which route you book, making it more than manageable. All that being said it was a great first time experience for us, even though we were unable to do the downtown tour that we had originally booked because of the flight restriction due to the Astros game (don't book downtown tours during any Astros/Rockets/Dynamo game because they won't be able to fly there). We amended to a "Galleria" tour instead, which was still nice for us because we flew over the watwrwall park where we got engaged. The pilot was nice and answered all our questions. They also took plenty of pictures of us (which you did have to pay for if you wanted) and we were able to take our own pictures as well. The biggest negative I noticed was that they didn't clean/disinfect the seats or headset in between tours which I feel is a must especially during the summer when people get sweaty. Otherwise I recommend it for first timers who want the helicopter experience. It's not cheap for the short duration it is, but the memory is well worth it.

Mind you, it's an hour drive to get there so we were well on our way to our appointment when the call came in letting us know they were still waiting for parts for the helicopter and all appointments would be delayed to that evening, at best. (Sigh...) Disappointed, to say the least. We're gonna let the option to try again marinate before we decide. ______________ Took my son for his birthday. We were all set and ready but unfortunately there was a last minute mechanical uncertainty so they felt it best not to take flight. I appreciated it as it's definitely better safe than sorry. They immediately issued a full refund and gifted us with complimentary pics. The communication and professionalism was/is top tier. We've rescheduled!! To be continued...

The ride itself was about 45 minutes long, the weather was beautiful, and we circled over many of the tourist and historical spots. Yes, a headset would have been nice but he also had explained our route and the landmarks before we took off. And, I could see where a headset would be distracting if someone talked nonstop, I would prefer him to pay attention to what is going on rather than entertain me. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride and would not hesitate to do it again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

The pilots are smart, friendly and competent... you sit in the front row and experience the open-air biplane excitement that should be on your bucket list... take a friend, a child you need to entertain, a lovely lady/gentleman for Valentine's Day or any special day (or even for a mental health day for yourself) . Mardi Gras is coming up and you might just have some time leftover from the excitement of that to enjoy the vision of Galveston from the air. My best friend and I took the ride and won't ever forget it! As an aside, I would also recommend cruise ship passengers who scheduled too much time to set up an appointment for this. It will be worth it.

It was 4th of July and lotsa people out and about in Galveston...I thought they would switch us back to our original booked time slot but they made it work!! So grateful for their service...warm and friendly, everyone was great! If anything, it's some of the customers around us who were slightly the issue, but it's America's 250th birthday and everyone was having the best time...little stuff ain't gonna wreck our day at all. We did the 24-mile island tour (upgraded to it, originally booked the sea life) and so glad we did this!! So cool, was able to see the city from above. Our pilot was great, knowledgeable and flew us safely around the island, I highly recommend this activity if you're in the area. Thank you, Galveston Helicopters crew...you were all awesome! Keep up the great work!
