My anticipatory anxiety was unfounded as the doctor and the office made sure I was comfortable (in every way) the entire time. And no, it did not hurt. Perhaps minor discomfort that evening, Tylenol managed fine. The office was pleasant with a view out a window to distract yourself (unless you close your eyes and go to your happy place instead). The office manager was amazing, taking phone calls, greeting patients, doing it all with the most cheerful attitude. That sure helps reduce hesitation when you walk in. The dental assistant was kind, and even asked what music I'd like to hear. Clearly, the doctor leads this stellar team and when he walks in, you are confident you're in good hands. I'm hoping not to return any time soon, but if you need a root canal, Dr. McCann is your endodontist. I recently moved home and am uninsured so I had to pay out of pocket which was not cheap but I was happy with the procedure. Unfortunately it is 2 months later and I still have temporary cap on my tooth. I have been attempting to find a dentist having moved home to do the crown and get it squared away. This leads me to my dilemma and being extremely unsatisfied with my interaction with one of the secretaries who stated her name was "Chris". I have called in probably 5-6 times over the past weeks to try to get my records sent to me via email in order to relay the data to a new dentist. Every time she has stated she would do it and has not been able to send a simple email as well as seeming short and extremely unprofessional. Last week on Thursday I called again and she stated she would send them but was having "computer issues". I then called back on Friday again where she said the same and then followed up in the afternoon where she said the same thing. I had another dentist waiting both days for the data from them. It is very strange that a simple sending of an email has turned into this. I am not sure what is going on with that but it is very strange and has directly affected my health and time and scheduling and I will be following all this up thoroughly as Ive had to scramble and get emergency health insurance and the temporary filling is coming loose. I wasn't in any pain, but I needed a root canal and this office is in-network for both my GEHA and Cigna dental insurance plans. The office is located on Main St. in Williamsville. You turn onto S. Long St. and you'll see that it's on the tail-end of the building. The signage isn't super obvious, so keep an eye out. And they do have parking spaces for you. Check-in was quick and simple. The front office (Lisa) had already called my general dentist to get the tooth and insurance information. So, I filled out a couple standard forms and was almost immediately called in to be seen. The root canal went perfectly, as far as I can tell. It was near painless during the procedure and I have yet to experience much discomfort afterwards. What more can you ask for? It did seem like my tooth presented a couple surprises and took awhile (as is typical), but Dr. Shostad kept me at ease the whole time. Her and her assistant (Jacky) have a great chemistry. I felt like I was getting a personal comedy show and it was hilarious...Dr. Shostad the comic and Jacky the straight man. Hey, hopefully you don't need an endodontist anytime soon...but, this is definitely the place to go if you do. :-)

I told him that I was almost 70 years old with both cancer and diabetes and that I only wished to have conservative dental treatment unless I was in discomfort. He then insisted that I have the treatment and stated perhaps I did not understand. I told him I was an educated man who understood perfectly well but denied such treatment. He then tried to cajole me saying then they might not be the right dentist for me. I agreed and left, never to return. In my view, Dr. Siu was arrogant and pompous and I would not recommend him.

I've had my teeth worked on before and have never been in this much pain post-operation. My gums surrounding one particular tooth are still swollen and red. I still am eating with my front teeth because it's too painful otherwise unless I take 600 mg of ibuprofen beforehand. Also, this particular tooth has become a food trap with a large gap at the back of my tooth which catches everything. I never leave reviews but hoping this will come as a warning for anybody coming here for anything other than a teeth cleaning. Friendly staff and doctor. The actual work done is the problem. It's hard enough finding/trusting dentists and it was disappointing to have a poor experience after years of not having dental insurance available to me.
