We recently purchased a new dual fuel gas/electric stove from Costco. Upon installation, they weren't able to push the unit flush against the wall. After some troubleshooting, we determined it was due to the way our gas pipe was (sticking vertically up and down) and it needed to be turned 90 degrees in order to fit in the inset space behind the oven. Joe came out and gave us a quote, and we scheduled the work for the following week. Joe came out again and had the issue resolved very quickly. Avoid APES if you value honest pricing, clear communication, or skilled professionals. They quoted me over $6,000 to replace a single water heater -- an absurd price for a job that should cost $2,000-$2,500 in Scottsdale. The written estimate they provided was one of the most confusing documents I've ever seen. It was nearly impossible to decipher what each option was and what I would be charged for. When I had questions, the said their plumbing manager would call me back in a few minutes. They never called. On top of that, the technician told me everything needed to be replaced. I got a second opinion, that plumber fixed the actual issue easily and gave me a straightforward quote on the spot. The honesty gap between the two companies was staggering. I have no idea why this place is so highly rated. Avoid them like the plague. Edit: the owned lies and claims we wanted a thankless water heater. We did not. It was just a regular water heater. These guys absolutely bent my parents over. $379 to replace a $25 capacitor - a 15 minute job - with an $85 diagnostic fee on top of that. Then quoted $600 to install a thermostat. I'm legitimately angry that they pulled this on a retired couple and I wasn't made aware of it until after they performed the work. Edit: Your tech was there less than an hour to replace a capacitor, which is connected with only a couple spade connectors. For a $50 part and $100 burdened hourly rate (which would include everything you mentioned), that's a $150 job. You stacked a diag fee ON TOP OF that, which is BS. I let my parents know they got ripped off and they're calling Monday morning to dispute. You installed the unit and just did routine maintenance. They trusted you because of that, and you took advantage of them. I'm sure many of your reviews don't know any better, and you're taking advantage of them. We had a 1yr old a water softener that needed repaired and had several companies come out to look at it. Everyone insisted on replacing the softer but APES worked with us to find the problem and repair it! They also helped us replace our old reverse osmosis system and fix a bathtub that wasn't getting hot water while they were here. Communication was prompt and responsive with both the main office and our plumber Anthony. Extra points for Anthony being a sweetheart with our 4yr old daughter and an all around stand up guy. 0 stars. Seriously 0. I was told that I needed to be here between 7am-12pm and then 7am-5pm to have the whole unit in the attic replaced and because of how hot it is in the attic. I'm thinking they would want to arrive as soon as possible because it's already over 95 degrees outside, so I get here at 7am. When I walk it in the house it's so hot the thermostat reads "HI" not a degree. At 8:50am, I get a text saying, "Ron is gearing up and headed your way". At 9:15am, I call the number given from the text message to ask for the status of "Ron" and all they can tell me is "He's on his way" and that "Once he sends us a message saying that he wrapped up a job, an automatic text is sent to say he is on his way, but he's not the one who sends a message, it's system generated." I immediately get an attitude because again its "HI" in this house which is beyond 99 degrees. I am transferred to a manager (I assume) who is condescending. He was under the impression that good customer service is offering statements lacking real empathy and understanding and then goes on to make smart comments like "I've lived here my whole life" and "We're not the ones who caused the issues in your house..." (as if I did) in response to me saying that "this is Arizona and it's beyond hot". He also says, "I've been nothing but professional to you" etc....long story short, I cursed at him several times and advised that I would need to leave since the tech wasn't here and it's hot as f*** in the house. He condescendingly told me, "Well, if you leave, we'll have to reschedule" and "All I ask is that when the tech get there, you allow him to do his job"....I got irate after that dumb comment because why wouldn't I allow him to ensure the house had air conditioning after 6 days without it (because they needed to get approval and then needed to wait for the part). I felt like "It's hot hot, idiot!" He was completely blasé about the situation. After cursing at him some more, he left me with a childish "Have a wonderful day". The tech then arrived at 9:37am when he could have just called him and asked a simple "How far are you from the house." The customer service sucks - they are so detached, uncaring, and belittling. The timelines given aren't realist. It would be better to tell a customer to make their way to the house when the tech is on their way. And their ability to calm/handle a difficult customer is beyond novice. It's fake and robotic. I do not recommend this company. Of all the reviews I've written, this review deserves all five stars the most* We just bought a house and were working with our home warranty to try to resolve the issue. As it turns out, service employees who work for home warranty companies don't like to find big issues because they don't get paid that well. I had called about this issue a couple times and paid my $75 for them to leave without having fixed anything. Finally, someone who not only listened but understood what we were talking about. Through a simple inspection, our plumber Jim W was able to diagnose the problems we'd had with our sink, that every other plumber who didn't want to be here or put the work in, purposely brushed off or turned their shoulder on. Unfortunately, a section of our kitchen pipes were bad so we had to have them replaced. Fortunately for us, he took the time to go to battle for us, with our home warranty, so they would cover what they were supposed to cover. He spent hours on the phone and went above and beyond on countless occasions over the course of the whole ordeal. It seemed we kept hitting obstacles, entering from the exterior concrete wall, we still needed to have our counters and cabinets uninstalled from our kitchen, so that they could bulldoze a portion of our kitchen floor in order to access all the piping and ensure they replaced everything that needed to be replaced to avoid any future issues with the pipes. I was impressed that he managed not to break any of our tiled floor, I know he did his best, using precise detail, to avoid more damage (and cost to us). Since, he does not do home restorations, that part was outsourced. They made his job difficult by not showing up when they said they would, but he always had a good attitude and great customer service and always found the time to accommodate us into his already busy schedule. He was always there when he said he would be, and if there was a chance he'd be doing something different he was very considerate to call or send a message. The home restoration place was supposed to "reinstall" our cabinets but didn't. Not only that, they damaged sections, and didn't bother re-cocking to make it look nice. It was not at all A.P.E.S. responsibility to fix or make that right in any way, but he went down to the hardware store almost immediately and did. It was all the little things about A.P.E.S. plumbing that I noticed, that I can easily say, I've never experienced elsewhere. And they may seem like little things, but to me, they are so significant, especially in terms of establishing great trust as well as integrity of a person, and a business... and it was through these little things that I learned that they cared. For example, I had opened the side gate for them to have easier access with their tools to enter the back door and he saw me struggling to lock it ONE TIME. He put WD-40 on it for me, and it was like a brand new lock there after. Then there's that one time he fixed the access door to the kitchen sink. It used to hang funny. It used to drive me nuts. I never brought this up to him, and I never asked him to fix it. He never charged me for it, and he didn't even mention it to me. I noticed when he finished everything after they finished the job, and it just left me feeling amazed that people who believe in this old time, customer service still exist. They did several other things for us as well, including running the camera down the line, and just to be prudent, the hydro wash. We couldn't be happier with the work that was produced from this company. I am only disappointed that this plumbing service does not come up immediately when I am searching for plumbers. Don't go anywhere else, you might regret it. But in this case I can guarantee, if Jim is there, and something can be done about it, you will be forever grateful, just like me. read more

This is the second time I've worked with APES and have been happy both times. Will work with them again!

I have really mixed feelings about this company. I had a gas leak at my house resulting in my gas being turned off. They were very responsive to messaging on yelp. The first technician found a couple leaks but could not get the system to hold pressure. He did not remove the meter which was a major mistake - what if it was the meter leaking? He recommended advanced testing with helium. As you may know, helium is in very short supply so the testing is no longer available. They now use propane - but I could only find one company which does the test and it was a huge waste of money ... but that's a story for a different time. I had Diamondback Plumbing give me a second opinion. Within minutes, their tech pointed out a dielectric fitting which is for water lines. When I called to complain, APES sent a different technician (Carter W) out to fix it. Carter was wonderful and is the hero of the story. He found multiple leaks and sections of pipe missed by the original crew. He was beyond exceptional and got our gas restored. Lessons I learned - if you need "advanced leak testing," you need to replace all the lines. With flexible pipe, it's cheaper and easier. Second, the meter needs to be removed for leak testing. And last, leaking gas lines is a major pain in the ass!!! read more

I had a great experience with APES this week; Dan came to repair an issue I've had w a sewage smell. He listened as I explained the issue, and then immediately identified what he thought could be the root cause. He was able to fix the issue right away and since then, I have not had the smell! The original problem was liquid coming out around the base of the toilet. I had a plumber sent from AHS home insurance who pulled the toilet and said I needed a rooter company because there were roots clogging the toilet. he wouldn't do it, thank goodness because I called APES from good reviews here. Turns out the AHS guys diagnosis was incorrect, the guy put a new wax ring in and it was the wrong size, and there were NO roots. APES to the RESCUE!!!! Carter gave me all the potential things that might be going on and we discussed the way to go. He gave me plenty of understanding to make a great decision and so we pulled the toilet expecting to see roots. No roots. But the ring that attaches to the pipe and holds the studs on which the toilet sits and is bolted down was corroded to the point of wobbling. It was super obvious and the other plumber should have seen it. Carter gave me a very fair price to put on a new one. In addition he cleaned up all the gunk that had stuck under the toilet. Where the other plumber asked us to supply towels to pick up the water Carter had a wet dry vac so no need for us to supply a bunch of old towels. Carter did a very clean job, he properly sized the wax ring and, with the new foundation part, tightened the toilet down correctly and did a beautiful job of finishing off the base with silicone. He said he left a little opening in the back of the silicone so if it ever leaked again it would come out in that one place. Absolutely great job, clean, professional and I will use them again for ANY plumbing needs. Ok I can't help myself, I'm going APE for APES. Sorry, feel free to groan. read more

The troubleshooting to find the problem and the preliminary technicians were just fine But the estimate to repair was over $1300 with the bulk of the cost being freon with @ 4 hours of labor. We researched the cost of freon and their charge was easily 70% more than any inquiries we made. Just had the work done for $395 including the freon. read more

We didn't end up using APES for our service but they were so friendly when I contacted them I had to leave a review. I believe I spoke with CeCe(sp?) and she was so nice. We tried scheduling close to closing time and unfortunately they didn't have anyone available and we had an emergency but she said she would put us at the top of the list to get a call in the morning. I've been told this before from other companies and that call usually isn't u til the afternoon but they came through! Joe was great! We had to do a reroute and Joe was so awesome. We used Apes because of the quote that we received which was fair. I am only giving it 4 stars because the schedulers didn't seem that we were a priority. I would give it 3 stars but, I don't want this to go against Joe as he went above and beyond. We had a slab leak and it was the hot water so, we could only use our hot water for showers as we were advised to only use the hot water when absolutely needed. I scheduled an annual ac service online after a colleague recommended them. I previously had "service" from another ac company and was really looking for an honest assessment as I don't believe that is what I got from the awful 1st company. The contact and scheduling was great and I received reminders and updates as promised. Jesus arrived on time and checked the thermostat and got right to work. After some time on the roof he came in to give me a rundown. I was on another call, so he just waited patiently for me to finish up. My dog loved him, which I personally find a great indicator of character. He told me he had some not so great news and proceeded to tell me about some suggested repairs. I am not really knowledgeable about the inner workings of an ac unit and he explained it in a way that made sense to me. I asked him a few questions and about home warranty coverage. He said he wasn't sure if the warranty would cover it, but that he would check. Even before home warranty his estimate was significantly less than the previous company. Turns out my warranty paid to replace the 2 failed/failing parts and I paid to have some cleaning and maintenance done. At the end of the appointment I paid less than 10% of the other companies estimate and my unit was back to working as efficiently as possible that same day. I reached out to Apes 6/18/23, regarding my AC not cooling down my home. It was reaching upward of 90 degrees in my home, but was blowing cool air, just not a lot. Rebecca called me almost immediately to get me on the books. I asked how much I could expect to pay for the diagnostics, and she let me know since I was a first-time customer that the $85 fee would be waved. Awesome! Super fast scheduling for the next day as well! I was told they would be there between 8-9 am. At 10, I called to see what was going on, since I hadn't heard anything. I was told they are working on a multiple unit call and are running behind. Would be great if someone would let me know, as I was scheduling my day around this. I was told they would be there by 2 pm. 12:03 I received a message that Ron would be heading my way in an hour or less. As a result of his diagnostics, he determined that I needed to replace my compressor capacitor and needed a level 2 cleaning, each at a repair cost of $379. He said all other testing showed that the unit was working properly. No servicing was completed. He then said he required a payment of $95 for the diagnostic eval (not sure where he came up with the amount). I advised that whoever I spoke with the day before advised that would be waived since I was a first time customer. He then grilled me on who I spoke to and luckily had a voicemail from Rebecca to provide her name. After telling me he has never heard of them doing that, he made a call and was told to waive the fee and they would speak later after the service call. They sat outside my house in their vehicle for 45 minutes, post the wrap up and then sent me the estimate for the two suggested repairs. About this time, I noticed that my house was insanely hot and the AC was now blowing HOT air, very quickly. I attempted to reset the breaker and adjusted the settings to see if it would put out any cool air. I finally got it to register to cool, but the unit was now overcooling. So much so that my house was at 54 degrees! Again, if I adjusted the settings to make it warmer... it would start over-heating my home. There was no happy medium. This went on until the 24th. I attempted buying a new thermostat and even tried turning off the unit. The unit would not turn off and in OFF mode would fiercely blow HOT air in my home. So, I ended up having to keep it at the cool function for several days. The new thermostat was not a fix, as the same issue was happening. I ended up calling the company I had used twice previously at this house and they were out within an hour. After FIVE MINUTES of being on my roof he came in and said, "There's definitely a problem... someone has wired your green and red wires together so the Unit will NEVER turn off." This is something if were initially like this... would have rendered the same issue of over cooling and over heating as the unit is always running and cannot register that it has reached its heating or cooling settings. This issue did not start until Ron left my home. He rigged my unit wiring to always be on. I am a single mother who works full time to support my family. I can't imagine what this AC bill is going to look like. Not too mention, I had to call the other company out to fix what he did, costing me even more. Im appalled that someone would do this. I've taken a couple days to gather my wits, thoughts, and emotions about this. But, this is unacceptable, dishonest, and horrible professionalism. read more

Amazing, I called at 8:00 and told Ralph I had a broken pipe coming up out of the ground to my back yard facet. I broke it Sunday trying to get my hose disconnected. No big deal just wanted it done today if possible. I get a text at 9:30 from there office and it say your tech will arrive within the hour.. WOW!! Daquon calls me when he gets there to go over the work needed. I figured I should get the leaky one in the front replaced too. Also explained in the back I only wanted to replace the pipe and the valve but try to save the anti siphon and pool leveler circuit that was also hooked up to the line.. He took my directions, did better than I expected, was done by 2:00 with all of the work, and the finish product looks was better than what I had. We purchased a older home in Scottsdale. We were having a sewer/ sulfur smell coming from the bathrooms. I had two plumbing companies prior to APES out to the home to address the issue. With no resolution or a correct fix I was very discouraged and worried if we would ever find the problem? I was referred to APES from a ladies group! I decided to give them a call! Within 24 hours JIBRAN from Apes arrived at my home. He is 24 years old and had more knowledge than the older men I had to the home. He is passionate about his career and was right on about the issue! I don't understand why the other companies/plumbers couldn't figure out the issue? I imagine the other company was lazy and not willing to trouble shoot the issue as Jibran was.. Jibran went over and beyond for us. I would recommend Apes and Jibran to anyone! We found some serious cracks in our foundation, we were suspicious of a plumbing leak and I am glad that someone recommended A.P.E.S because Daquon and Luke showed up to our house and knew exactly how to troubleshoot, narrow it down to an area and then do the work that was necessary to make the repairs in a timely manner. The other thing that I must mention is that the guys came to Lake Havasu from Phoenix, and ended up staying 2 nights out of town in order to make the repairs needed. (Arizona Plumbing Expert Services). APES responded within an hour or so and said they'd have a tech out to our place by the end of business. Destry arrived within an hour or so of the notification. Check Box 1! Prompt service! After diagnosing the problem, he gave me the price and upon approval, he retrieved the part and installed. Check Box 2! Pricing before performing the job! Within the hour, he had the part, had it installed, checked the back line to ensure no further leaks. Check Box 3! Attention to detail! He cleaned the area and reviewed the invoice with me and showed no hidden or additional charges. Check Box 4! Kept his word on the pricing! I highly recommend A.P.E.S. for your plumbing, appliance or electrical repairs! My endorsement is that I hope I never have to call upon A.P.E.S. again!
