Horrible. My boyfriend and I were only passing through town so we did not need much out of where we were staying. We don't have high expectations, and for something to be below our standards- it has to be bad. My boyfriend said the lady checking him in had somewhat of an attitude but we just wanted to get to our room. As I walked in, I notice a tear and some stains in the carpet which can typically be excused considering it is a cheap motel. Yet, when I walk into a musty room, a shower with hair in it, a tub faucet that's barely attached to the wall, bugs crawling on the bathroom counter, and a cobweb accompanied by a spider- I draw the line. It was dated which again, is excusable and doesn't matter, but disgusting. The reviews on google and the website we booked it on were good- no clue why! I could not fathom the idea of sleeping in there after seeing the state of our room. I paid $86 for this shit!?!? Absolutely not. I wasn't going to risk getting lice, bed bugs, or anything from this hell hole of a motel. Once again, we do not have high expectations and this was just ridiculous. I obviously had to request a refund and I had never done that in my 20 years of life. I went to the front desk and the lady acted surprised I said how dirty it was and that there were bugs as if there aren't how many reviews online complaining about the same issues? She put gloves on and wanted to check the room and I was slightly annoyed she felt the need to go because I simply wanted my money back and to get as far away as possible. I waited for her to return, to have her tell me I needed to call Expedia to cancel the booking when we didn't even book through the site. When my boyfriend checked his confirmation email, it already said cancelled anyway and he hadn't even done anything on his account yet? The situation was making no sense and she was arguing with us and talking over us saying to call. We went outside and tried to, when she walked out with a voided receipt for the room, thank fucking god! I was not going to leave without my money back for the horrible service and room and everything. I told my father about the experience simply because I was so upset that I was practically robbed of $86 right after my birthday too! I was unaware that he called the place after I told him about my terrible experience, and I'm certain it was the only reason I got my damn money back. I couldn't care less if she thought I was an entitled brat. I'm sorry if that's your standard of living, but it isn't mine and I could not walk away and be robbed of that much money for that shit. I found a hotel for $92, only $6 more than this hell hole, right down the street and even closer to the main road of Moab. GO TO THE BOWEN MOTEL! The front desk guy was VERY nice and let me check in despite him not seeing my email since I booked the room only a few minutes before arriving. Very appreciative of him and the customer service. MUCH better amenities, service, and very clean. read more

This place has milked it's claim to fame for way too long. "John Wayne stayed here" Bring your own pillow. Take off the old bed spread. In need of a serious remodel. Paper thin walls. I suggest a upper unit other wise you will hear your noisy neighbors. Cheaper than other options in town. Off the main drag. Would I stay here again? Not if I could help it. read more

Nice quiet part of the town but still close to a lot of establishments in town. It's old and has a history so what do you expect? But I'm giving them four stars because the breakfast is so so I would have given five stars bec they just renovated, the room that we have is big two queens, new beds, flat screen tv, big enough size fridge, microwave they let us take our mountain bikes inside and we still have space! And the price is the best part of it! I've asked around and this is the cheapest. Stayed here for 5 days, and yes I would definitely stay here again when in Moab read more

I've stayed here before when on trips through Moab. It's a nice, clean, two-story place with average sized rooms and a great breakfast each morning. It's reasonable as well, but no Hilton. Considering everything in town is so expensive, this place is a great exception. read more

The Apache is a bit "worn".....could use some paint and sprucing up in the lobby. But our room was neat and clean....a/c worked well with 105 degree temps, beds and pillows very comfortable, bathroom very clean, great shower! Breakfast was "interesting" but adequate....a variety of cereals, hot pancakes, and pastries. Some fruit would have been nice but again, if you went hungry, it was your own fault. Wendy (I believe was her name) was very friendly and helpful! If you want a room for a great nights sleep, clean and comfortable without all the thrills, the Apache Motel is a great choice! read more

Ok first off outdated? NO it's original! Which makes it awesome! Front desk guy was super nice when we checked in! Hooked us up with the "john Wayne" suite it was killer! Super big, cool little bar in the one corner two bed rooms nice flat screen tv AND a DVD player! Breakfast the next day was nice super quite the whole time me and my wife could not ask for more but then there is the price which you Could not beat! Very nice and clean, dated maybe but it adds to the charm for us! read more

My poor wonderful husband decided that while I was not on vacation with him he would save money by staying at cheaper motels. Poor man was woken up by bed bugs at 1am and couldn't get back to sleep. He ended up collecting them with his credit card and a plastic bag. Thankfully the woman at the front desk offered to refund his stay without him asking. Let me get this straight... This place is not the Ritz-Carlton and it's far from it.. This motel is a traditional and classic motel, parking in front and 2 levels. It's in a quiet neighborhood 2 blocks off of Moabs main drag. The rooms are basic, TV, coffee maker, and continental breakfast. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating, when we wanted to stay an extra night it wasn't a problem. The red rock views are impressive, the whole motel has a kitschy retro-vibe which made this place great for a Moab experience. read more

Every couple of years during Jeep week we like to come out and ride our bikes in Moab. Some sort of sick enjoyment of looking at what people can do to their jeeps while we can still ride our bikes does something for us. We stayed three years ago in #54, the single wide trailer out back on a lark. This year we made reservations, we liked it so much three years back. And nothing, and I do mean nothing, down to the plates, has changed. Hence the three stars. The people who run the Apache are nice. Breakfast is good, not great, but gets you going to ride. But its time to invest some money into the property. The couches in the living room of our abode were done. The AC didn't work in a way we could figure out. Its time to put some cash into the place and it really could be nice. We'll be going back, hopefully to a renovated single wide, next year! read more

My mom just arrived at my house for dinner after three nights at the Apache. She thought it was poison oak, but we deciphered that it was actually bedbug bites from the Apache. Now, I have to steam my entire house, including burning all the furniture in my new home. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Typically I'd caution that you get what you pay for BUT in this case you get even less. There is a reason this is the only place with openings most weekends. Room has that musty smell like it hasn't had any updates in 40 years. Beds are not Queens, rust, holes and stains everywhere. "A/C" does nothing to cool or heat. Breakfast and coffee a joke. Pay more and actually enjoy your stay in this awesome town. read more

I was booking a bit late for a trip to Arches National Park in October, and availability and price were an issue. This place was acceptable. The room was small but had 2 queen beds and a refrigerator and microwave. The coffee in the morning was decent but the breakfast was barely minimal, We didn't really have a problem with the place. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway since we spent most of the day every day in the park. read more

It was clean. The bathroom worked well. There was a new HVAC unit in the room and comfortable beds. The location is nice and quiet and there was a helpful lady behind the desk. It had a kitschy decor. We didn't eat breakfast cause we had other plans. We wound up there because....... ALL THE OTHER ROOMS IN MOAB WERE BOOKED SOLID!!!! I was told this is a common problem in Moab except in the middle of winter. Be advised.....there are no alternative places to stay for hundreds of miles. That said I'd be happy to stay here again especially since the location is so peaceful. read more

Friends stayed here and got a serious case of bedbugs and the Apache settled out of court. They're not the first. I used to stay here and loved it, but that was before Moab started having bedbud infestations. I now know of one B&B who won't book Europeans because of the fear. Are you going to Moab to hang out in your room or see the outdoors? That's really the question here. The Apache Motel is locally known for being a historic location because John Wayne stayed there..cool huh. It's also walking distance to "Milts, Burgers and Shakes," (my favorite place to break my vegan eating for a day with a yummy malt) and it's not too far off the main drag to walk there. In particular, the Moonflower Community Cooperative, which is a great place for healthy provisions if your not ordering out every meal. The room is not super fancy, but they are clean, the linens, the floor, comforters, bathrooms and the beds are comfortable. My favorite part is the pool... it doesn't look like much from the outside to be honest, because the laundry facilities are often open and visible from it, that said, the pool chemicals are IDEAL..no seriously. If you know anything about pool chemicals you'll understand, the water is clean, doesn't burn your eyes, no smell, perfect balance. The pool area really did it for me, a fantastic place to end a long day after being out hiking or recreating in the heat, or pass the time while it's too hot to go on a long hike. Kids loved the pool too, took in their floats- and it does get good shade in the afternoon. Whole family friendly (4 legged kiddos welcome). Last thing...book plenty of days, they do fill up quicker than one might think unless you don't mind moving around. read more

Outdated facility. Front lady with kids was warm and helpful. The older lady at front desk was very grumpy and didn't want to be bothered to help us with hot water for the baby bottle. They need to stop feeding all the feral cats and clean it up. Owners are from CA and just don't care. But could be a really cool stop in Moab. It's got a bit of charm. read more

When I went to Moab, all of the other hotels were filled, so we decided to try the Apache Motel for a night and regretted it. The Apache Motel was overall not a very good experience and I would not recommend anyone stays there. When we arrived late at night, we almost couldn't get into our room due to the hotel not having an all day lobby to check in. We sneaked in with about an hour to spare at 12:00. We got into our room and looked around and it initially looked a little run down at best. We looked at the beds and the mattresses and sheets looked awful, I ended up sleeping on my jacket with no pillow, the beds were that bad. Once I woke up, I went to their breakfast and their selection was limited but quite good for a hotel. I then tried to work a little on a paper and I couldn't get anything done because the Wi-Fi was so awful. It would reset every few hours or so and reset all of my previous work. Around noon I walked to a nearby restaurant which was very nice. It has some nice locations in walking distance from it. Overall I was happy to leave the motel eventually and would not stay there again and I discourage others from staying there also. read more

If all you are looking for is a comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom, and good shower, friendly, downhome staff, at a great price, this is your place. We had three bugs in our bed the first night. We took them to the desk and they were very unimpressed. Said "Oh yeah this is a beetle we get about this time of the year". The other two had no real comment. They did change the bedding while we were out the next day. Then we had three more the next night. Different bugs of which I saved just in case. They told our credit card company when we disputed the charges "We offered them another room or their money back". This is a LIE! They also said "You must have brought the beetle in with you". Another LIE! When Expedia called to negotiate a solution they said "Nope, go ahead and complain to the credit card company. We do not care". In reality they lied about many things knowing the town was SOLD OUT and we had no options on moving. They did not care and did not offer to return our money or change rooms. they said they offered us a room with two beds and we turned it down. DO NOT stay here under any circumstances. read more
