He is very easy to work with, extremely thorough, documents absolutely everything, explains things that might be unclear, knows all the pertinent building codes and conventions, and has a world of experience himself with construction. He was checking out a manufactured home, something new for us as we've always had stick frame and my husband built most of our buildings himself in his younger days. We were amazed at Harold's knowledge regarding the fine points of this type of housing. For example, he knew what timeframe certain changes were made in that industry with plumbing and siding and that's not exactly common knowledge. He took the time to inspect a garage associated with the site that was the responsibility of the landlord, and we then knew what repairs we needed to insist on prior to seriously considering our purchase of this home. Our final report was 46 pages long, including photos showing evidence of any problems, and he also provides a text quick summary which is very helpful. We got our report later the same day as the inspection. Issues are noted in their level of severity related to the condition of the home, and flagged as needing repair now or something that could wait. We adjusted our offer on the home based on his findings and our own observations and research, and have yet to see if we purchase it, but at least we haven't spent too much on a place that could end up being a money pit. We highly recommend Miller Home Inspection and expect to do business with them/him again.

I noticed this afterward when I was showing the house to my mom. The listing agent was there and also witnessed it . I also smelled gas at the furnace in garage that he did not notice and only called for a maintenence on it. I called him to ask questions of why he did not put these things into his report and his reply was that he did not notice the gas smell or the fan. He then said that he sent me a report on what to expect from inspections and that utility fans are not apart of what should be expected to be checked. I have built homes now for 10 yrs and am very familiar with normal inspections and what they entail. I think that him saying to not expect the fans to be checked and put into reports is substandard. If he missed that what else did he miss? He would not go out and check the fan for me or the gas smell after I already paid him. He laughed at me and dissmissed my concerns and questions.

When it comes to home inspections, finding an honest, meticulous, knowledgable, trustworthy, and…read morefriendly inspector can be daunting, considering the investment of buying not only a house, but the right one. Scott Carpenter from Integrity Home Inspections takes it a step further and wants to make sure you're not just buying a house, but a home. Privately owned and operated, Scott is a Whidbey Island resident who prides himself in his work and has a "home town" feel to his inspections. He doesn't show up in a flashy commercial truck and put a sign on the street announcing who he is and what he's doing; on the contrary, he shows up on time and ready to work, and is very professional in appearance. His website details his credentials, and this honestly was what sold us on calling Scott for our home inspection. I wanted to make sure Scott was okay with me accompanying him during the inspection, which he was. For the next three hours, I followed and watched as Scott climbed under, over, and on top of every part of the house he could. As he went about his inspection, he took a good number of pictures and made notes on a tablet for the report. He also explained what he was looking for, and was always willing to show me what he deemed a problem and why, then would follow up with a solution for repair, if needed. Scott also made sure to hit all areas of the home so he could give a full, confident report. It didn't matter that the roof was wet from rain or that the attic was dark; he approached every aspect of the home and inspected it to his satisfaction. If there was an element of home construction I was unfamiliar with, Scott took the time to explain everything to me so I could understand how it fit into the structural element of the home, and why (or why not) it was important. This, to me, was great, personalized service. Scott was also very respectful of the homeowner's space and privacy, always sure to shut everything off and close all doors and drawers he had to check. He ensured he covered his footwear when entering the house from outside, and left the house exactly as he found it. Another thumbs up from a homebuyer's perspective. Lastly, Scott's prices are beyond reasonable and include a very thorough, comprehensive report complete with pictures and recommendations based upon professional experience and opinion, as well as industry standards. His report is easy to follow, detailed, and well worth the money we spent to get the home inspected. Integrity Home Inspections made the right choice by naming the business so. Scott Carpenter embodies the true meaning of integrity, and we strongly recommend him for home inspections in the greater Whidbey/Skagit/Anacortes and surrounding areas. He is truly an industry professional in every sense of the word.

We felt he treated this inspection as if he were buying the house for himself and his family! We came away from the experience feeling confident that he had done an excellent job.

This saved us about $300! He could have just taken our money without mentioning that at all. Amazing customer service. We got a lawyer for $250 to tell us the company had protected itself in the fine print and we had no recourse.
