They provided several choices, each of which gave me the best value for my dollars. They worked with me through some scheduling changes so that I could watch the roof go on. What is underneath is really more important than the shingles that went on top. The crew was professional and efficient, and really nice guys to boot. They worked long hours to get it done quickly and cleaned up each night. I told Cameron that I wanted to be around in 50 years to check up on their warranty. He said the roof would be there.

Looking at it from the attic he could see some roofing nails. All the other 3 companies I had give an estimate said the same thing. My house is 62 years old and is very solidly built. When he did the bid he included 3 sheets of plywood just in case. He did not want to include all the sheets in case it did not need it but said that any additional sheets would be billed at an additional cost. If it was needed, it would take 50 sheets to cover the entire roof. I planned on needing the 50 sheets, so I added that cost to his bid and went with them. When it was all done, he said that it was 58 sheets (which I question, all the other companies I had give me an estimate said it would be 50 sheets). He did not give me the credit for the 3 sheets he added to the bid, saying they were in addition to the extra ones. Needless to say, it cost more than the bid. I would say watch what they are doing and take note of the supplies. The work looks good, except the flashing on the chimney. After not hearing back from them about it, I am having another company come and fix it. I don't really trust them to do it correctly. Only go with them if you want to pay more than they quote.

We did have a small "glitch," in communication at first, because I did not inform them that our water source is a well, and it slows way down in water production in late summer. They had to return 2 days later to finish the job, but this time, they brought extra water, and everything is clean and sparkling! This is the first time I have ever had our house totally washed, so I know now, to be very cognizant about the water issue in these situations.

The initial time suggested wouldn't work for me so Edvin stated he would be on site 30 mins earlier. 10:30 AM arrives. No-show from Edvin. No communication, no update, no notice. 8 mins past our agreed upon meeting time, I had to be the one to initiate finding out what happened. Shouldn't the business be the one letting me know if they couldn't make the time BEFORE the agreed upon time? After finding out Edvin couldn't meet that day, he said he could be there the following day at 11AM. Again, another no-show from this company. No communication, no update, no notice. Even after giving them the benefit of the doubt asking if we were still meeting 7 mins AFTER the agreed time, Edvin chose to read the message and remained silent. I thought it was a small job and paid deposit right away. They said they could start Monday Dec 5. Then Dec 9 Edvin said the metals have been delayed for a week due to the holidays. Dec 29 I asked when they would start. They scheduled then canceled on me Jan 14, 26, 30, then Feb 8, and said it was due to inclement weather. Then they handed me off to Sam and said there was confusion and language barrier. Then Feb 25 they said they were waiting on metals again but they did start pulling off the damaged roof. Then I contacted them Mar 1, 3 and no answer. Then Mar 4, 6, 11, 17, 18, 19, 24, 29 it was either sporadic or no communication until I threatened bad reviews. Apr 1 they replaced the new metal roof section. It was not the matching striation of the original panels but I didn't make them change it. I inspected the work and I asked them to cover a small soffit area with metal to protect it and make it look uniform. Also they needed to clean up their scraps. Apr 20 they still had not come back. May 21 they asked for final payment. I reminded them they needed to do the touchups and clean up again. May 25 they finally completed the work and I submitted final payment.

They came out the next day after I called requesting a quote, and when they arrived they not only gave me a bid, but also said they could do the work right then and there. They had taken the initiative to bring the right color shingles and their approach to the repair was perfect for the circumstances (old roof - we just need to make it a few more years). In addition to doing the job requested, they also helped with a temporary repair to our damaged gutters. They also helped fix a gutter drain issue that was causing an annoying drip where we sit at our deck. Overall these are skilled craftsmen who are easy to work with and charge a fair price. I will use them again next time I need roof repair or replacement.

We asked around the neighborhood to see what gutters others had installed. Universally, they said their "Leaf Guard" gutters were a disappointment, being hard to clean, grew moss on the outside, and generally a pain. We decided to replace ours with a "plain" style. A friend, who hires contractors to maintain their rent houses, recommended Willy's Gutters. Mike was quick to respond and came out to make a visual inspection and listen to our concerns. He quickly submitted a detailed estimate for K5 gutters. We studied the gutter types and volume and decided to upsize to a K6 as they were closer to the size of our existing gutters. I had already received a review from another company who just used a Google Maps picture to estimate the project. Mike was far more competitive pricewise and seemed far more personable. While there was an initial snafu with scheduling, the second appointment five days later was met on time. At the appointed time, the two-man crew arrived, quickly assessed the project and began work. While their English was minimal, my high-school Spanish was enough, and when it was not, Google Translate helped clear up my questions. They were able to remove and install the gutters without disturbing my ham radio antenna cables. They also placed two extension downspouts to move runoff away from the foundation as our french drains had long since clogged. The team was very (very) careful when handling the long lengths of gutter to protect our windows and siding. We will need to have our painters return and do some touch-ups given the new type of downspout brackets which are screwed in instead of nailed. The gutters were not nailed on as before--they use a new screw-bracket system which should make adjustments easier in the future. After the job, the team did a thorough walk-through, and we only found one small shard with a nail. They used a magnetic broom to pick up stray screws. They removed all of the old gutters and downspouts. The gutters are guaranteed for seven years. The new gutters look a bit different, but I think we made the right choice. We don't have fascia boards, but they covered the rafters nicely. Just a note: I thought aluminum gutters would not rust. They didn't. However, they do corrode over time. They were supposed to last 30 years--they exceeded that estimate.
