Our business banking manager, Nicola, and her assistant, Pratika, answered all of our questions, made sure we had all of the correct things in place and when we did discover there was a small issue that needed fixing on one of our accounts they immediately rectified the matter, following up emails with phone calls to make sure things are right. The New Lynn main Great North Road branch is currently a bit cluttered due to street upgrades which thankfully should be done soon, but that has no reflection on the interiors which are, as you'd expect from one of our biggest banks, very modern and professional.

Even when we opened the account, the woman we dealt with was great, explaining everything and not pushy in any way. We actually left that day with 2 eftpos cards and this made those first few weeks in Auckland much more convenient. In England, they send them out in the post, then they send the pin out separately and it's all very inconvenient. I had to change some cheques in sterling from the Inland Revenue in the UK and ANZ processed them without any hassles. Mind you, I did have to wait about 15 minutes and the people behind me in the queue were grumbling. Still when the assitant swivelled round the screen to show me how much Kiwi dollars I got for a cheque for GB600, I was a very happy man!

Apart from earning it the distinction of being my first ever bank, it also means that it's quite an old building, built before the aesthetic for banking became all reflective glass and plastic. This is a bank that looks like a bank; I bet you could film an amazing heist here. I've always had pleasant experiences with the staff here, although to be fair I've never asked them to do anything difficult. But they're friendly, and helpful in that scripted way that bank staff are trained to be. Actually going back to the building - it's got really high ceilings for a building with such a small footprint. And that's really nice.

Now that internet banking is the easy way to go I don't really pop into the bank on a regular basis however, what is great about the recent National Bank and ANZ Bank merger is that, aside from the colour change, things don't appear any different to me the customer. I am greeted by the same old friendly staff who are working hard behind the counter. They are still offering my family and I great personable service. My children are now old enough to play a more active role in their banking and they've been happy with the down to earth service the good guys at ANZ Glen Eden give.

Although he's not old enough to realise what money is yet, in the future he will thank me for giving him a head start in life. So my appointment to see a friendly staff member went very well, I was seated comfortably in the office, and filled out a few forms, provided some important documents, and everything was finalized within a few minutes. My little one, even received a free Westpac trust helicopter money bank. The professional help and manner at this branch is superb; and I was even helped with depositing my money straight away into my boys account via the machine, very innovative and time efficient! I went to this bank to deposit some money into a friends account. I wanted the money to go in straight away so they informed me that I could do this via their cash depositing ATM which is just outside their store. A staff member came out with me and stood there helping and explaining everything to me for about 10 minutes and making sure I was happily on track with what I was doing. They were very friendly and it was the end of the day too when most people have had enough and I was being slightly retarded not reading out the bank account number properly and not understanding how to put the coins into the machine etc but they were very polite and patient! 2 thumbs up Westpac Saint Lukes!

As of now...im finding it an extremely long wait for my debit card…read more I arranged to have this item couriered to this branch last week (for a fee of course), with me pop in to pickup and sign it. I have personally visited the branch since the confirmation that the item is on its way (by Courier) only to be told that it was not in yet... The staff member who served me on the day of my visit appeared puzzled that the card was still not on site given that enough time had passed for delivery (she kindly agreed to waive the Courier fee, yep! brilliant no prob, cheers). Update: Another day has gone by without any contact from the branch. Hmmm..hope the Courier guy hasn't misplaced or forgotten to deliver to the branch. Hope the branch contacts the Courier company to check what's happened. Hope they get back to me soon to just check in and give me a 'sitrep'. Hope i get a call about er...hope hope, hopety hope... This would not be too much of an issue usually however the reason it is an issue is - i have online purchases backed up some days now. P.S. I have seen them handle the difficult customers trying to pick a fight really well. Several members of the team had to get involved once and they were all kind, but firm. They also really know their stuff! - I have gone in with various questions related to financial legalities, packaging quotes and various other things and each team member has been able to help me out. They is also a regular busker with his dog out the front, I like buskers...

I bet every other bank chain is gutted they can't have a post shop as well as a bank in the same…read moreplace. This is Kiwibank's biggest drawcard, in my honest opinion. Now, I'm not a Kiwibank customer, but I come to the post office a lot as I do a lot of mailing, and to register the car etc. The New Lynn branch of the Post Office is great. The staff are pleasant and always helpful when figuring out what packaging to get with what item and how to make it as cheap as possible. The only thing is it can get pretty busy because of its location, so I've found my self waiting in line for quite a while on more than one occasion, but I guess some people have lots of stuff they have sort out.

BNZ bankrupted me and actually had their agent fake the invoices they included as evidence to the…read moredisputes tribunal application they lodged against me. They also returned the cheques I sent them to pay off the credit card debt and refused to accept any payment arrangement. BNZ then sent a private investigator to my house and I had to defend myself in the high court. I was not allowed any lawyer and had to prepare all my own high court documents. The names to watch out for are Karen T-E. (BNZ). She is behind it. Carlile Dowling Solicitors (Carol H), Mark A of EC Credit Control (NZ) Ltd and Amy H, SB Law (Christchurch). I have made many requests to our NZ government to put a stop to banking and insolvency fraud in NZ, but they refuse to acknowledge the problems. I literally had to wait until after I was discharged from the bankruptcy to get my other creditors paid, because BNZ took away their rights as well. I make this review to appeal to banking customers in NZ, don't bank with BNZ, because by doing so you are allowing their illegal banking practises to continue.

All appeared quite straight forward, the following day ASB customer service contacted me for a copy of my payslips (reasonable request), I sent and following day contacted me again asking for copies of my bank statements, along with my partners (reasonable request). Later on in day stated that the statement didn't show my address, and the customer service lady just sounded as she couldn't be bothered processing my application. After 2 1/2 days I'd just had enough and said forget it I don't want your credit card. Not even a sorry for the lady, was more great, thanks and she put the phone down. Unlike a lot of inner city banks, it has the additional benefit of onsite parking at the rear. Unfortunately the exterior of this vintage building belies the cramped interior, without space to queue or wait if it is busy. The staff consistently underwhelm with their service. They are exasperating to deal with and often times seem incompetent in their jobs, swinging around to watch their colleagues without paying attention to their own client or not comprehending your request. A redundant security guard lounges on benches near the entrance to bolster your faith in the firm. All in all, it's easier to deal with an automated phone service than the staff in Greenwoods Corner.

There is a great water cooler inside that is always clean and tidy, a computer where you can log into your accounts and a kids area with a couple of stools, a screen for entertainment and a few toys. The ATM is located outside and again always tidy, I've never seen the receipts receptacle overflowing. There are a couple of parking signs out there to tie up your dog and a seat to sit on. The managers come and go but the tellers seem to stay much longer. I'm pretty sure ever changing managers are a ploy on the big banks side to make sure no relationships with long term customers are developed that might end in people bending lending criteria rules for instance. As far as banks go, I know the staff do their utmost to reduce waiting times here and really take pride in their work. The other customers are usually also friendly and chatty.
