We stumbled upon MPG through a google search before leaving San Diego for Plainfield. We called to inquire about day passes, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out they're only $10! After looking through pictures and seeing high praise in Yelp, we were in. We went for the first time today with free week passes I got from my parents. Unfortunately they weren't valid, but we were still able to get a week pass for $15! Even though we might only make it one more time, it still is a way better deal. The gym itself is better than what I expected. Plenty of machines and free weights, two deadlift platforms, a few racks, and a lot of machines I've only seen on IG but have been dying to use. There's also a huge section in the back for tire flipping or other functional training like rope climbing. It's also pretty impressive that they offer cryotherapy in the front of the house. Overall, this is a great gym. If I lived here I would definitely make this my regular gym, but alas I will just have to make it my spot for when I visit home. Thanks MPG!

Probably the main floor will remain status quo. I would only wish that they do not introduce any more fitness machines on that main floor because it is at the limit now with the machines they have in place as is. Equipment is seldom wiped down, floors stay dirty, and the bathrooms are disgusting with bad odors and poor upkeep. They recently upcharged members, claiming it would add more equipment. All they added were four or five basic machines for regular use. Most of the better weights and gear are reserved for classes or require a premium membership. The new lifting platform is off-limits for regular members -- it's only for classes, and you'll quickly be asked to stop if you try using it. The front and back areas are constantly occupied by classes or group workout cycles, leaving everyone crammed into a tight space. The trainers aren't very professional. Many aren't mindful of the small gym layout -- they have clients swinging barbells right near you, and I nearly got hit more than once.This place doesn't deliver on cleanliness, space, or value.

Months went by without any communication. I was never called, emailed, or notified when the program finally became available. By the time the Pilates program started, I had already canceled my basic $28 membership because I wasn't using the gym. Despite never being notified that the Pilates program had begun, LA Fitness refused to refund the $79 charge. Charging customers for a service that wasn't available when they signed up and then refusing a refund after failing to communicate is unacceptable. On top of that, the facility is often dirty, several machines are broken or out of service, and the staff have not been friendly or helpful when I've raised concerns. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. Better communication, cleaner facilities, properly maintained equipment, and improved customer service would go a long way. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.
