This place reflects very poor customer service and failure to provide complete and accurate information.! My husband and I were both listed on the same account. During the last month of our contract, my husband called to cancel the service. At that time, he was not informed that I also needed to call separately to complete the cancellation. At the beginning of the following month, we were charged again. I then contacted anytime fitness and was told that this charge would be the final one and that no further billing would occur. Despite this assurance, we have now been charged yet again. When I called today to inquire about this additional charge, I was informed of a 30-day cancellation policy crap that had never been disclosed to either of us during our prior calls. read more

The person who manages is this facility is really managing anything. For the past three years I've gone to this club, have been charged double in October and April for "upgrades" (never once saw an upgrade), have been charged for two months when they were closed for Covid, and hardly do I ever see them at the facility, let alone answering phone calls. I have tried to cancel my membership for the past month and half, and have yet to receive any confirmation or communication about the cancellation, so I'm still being charged. Please, do not sign up for this anytime fitness, the one in Bastrop is WAY better! Or I would check out the HIIT gym, they been open for under a year and I've heard good things. The same thing happened to me with my two year plan, where they told me my key fob would turn off and I could not use it; that plan was supposed to expire in October and now I'm being threatened with collections for taking the charges off with my bank. Be for the pandemic, I was faithfully going to anytime at least 3-4 days a week attending classes designed for seniors. I loved it!! Have been a long time member of this gym, and after several months of isolation, I started going back this week. I am less than impressed with the conditions here. It is dirty with no apparent signs that anyone is cleaning regularly. Equipment is missing and no one is around to ask about it. Equipment that is used is not put back where it belongs and the worst thing is that that there is no one around to talk to. Losing Ally is the worst thing that could happen at anytime. She was a great asset. Are there going to be any more trainers hired and when are all the classes and activity going to be reinstated. Now that HT is in town I would think that management would be a little concerned about losing members. Less than impressed and very disappointed!!!!!!! read more

I am so glad Matthew works there now!!! Alex was awful to say the least, broken promise, paperwork done wrong, account over charge and everything in between. However Matthew renewed my faith in this company, I am so thankful for him, he sat there, listened to me vent and then fixed the issue immediately. I am so glad he did because the gym is right down the street from my house and I love this gym, it's never crowded and people who work out there are always polite. read more

So I signed up with Anytime Fitness in Elgin quite a while ago, and let me say that it was by far one of the biggest mistakes of my life. When I signed up with this gym they told me that I would be signed up for a 16 month membership and that after that 16 month membership my door key would cease to work and that the payments would stop, the only way to gain re-entry to the gym was to stop by and sign another contract. They also stated that they would send texts every so often to inform you of your expiring membership. Well when I got my new job I noticed that we had a free gym so I decided that I wanted to cancel my membership with AF but didn't want to pay the early cancellation fee. So I decided to just be patient and wait out the rest of the 16 month contract, but it never ended. I thought it was a bit odd considering the fact that it had been over 16 months yet I was still being charged. So I decided to head down there and just cancel it. I went down there on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) but no one was ever there, so I assumed that this franchise must have weekends off. So I came in on my days off (Tuesday and Wednesday) but yet again, no one was there. I continued doing this for around 2 months every chance I got. I then resorted to calling them, but no one ever answered. I left voicemails, no responses. I even had my mother contacting them on my behalf thinking two people calling stands a better chance than one person, still no luck. But finally, someone answered for her, and all they did for her was CONFIRM with her that my membership had been COMPLETED, but I had to come in to sign paperwork to make it official. Guess what, I came in on my days off to sign, and no one was there. I caved and went to the Bastrop, TX Franchise and a TON of staff were present. I begged them to help me cancel my subscription but they couldn't do anything for me, they told me I had to cancel at my home franchise. So then I went to the bank, and as a last resort, placed a stop charge on them where they couldn't STEAL any more money from me. Here's the best part, now they have turned me over to collections and they claim I owe them over $200 in services, stop charges, and various other costs. I would recommend that you avoid this franchise like the PLAGUE unless you enjoy getting scammed and stolen from. Absolutely horrendous staff, the gym is OKAY at best, but good luck actually getting out of your "contract" when the staff is literally absent 24/7. I think it is truly sad when the only way to get into contact with a place like this is when you ask the collections agency to TELL them to contact you, and in the same day, they do. If they had contacted me this expediently to begin with, this could have all been avoided. Long story short, do NOT sign with this location, go somewhere where the staff actually shows up. read more

24 hr availability with only 5 of those hours staffed. I just showed up to talk about getting a membership (6pm) and the door was locked. Guy wearing a "Anytime Fitness" polo just staring at me but won't open the door. He turned his head and went back to his business. Somebody leaving held the door open for me and I walked in and the staff guy still ignored me. Walked in wearing my work clothes and no gym bag, which should've been an indicator that I might be looking to talk to someone. Guy looked straight at me again then turned around and walked off. Really??? Place was real muggy like a dingy locker-room. Tiny place. Barely staffed (10am-Noon, then 4pm-7pm) and when they are, staff ignores anyone needing help. Gonna try somewhere else. Not sure what happened to this place. The gym smells like a sewer and is extremely dirty. The bathrooms are filthy and the showers are disgusting. I don't think that there has been any new equipment purchased in several years. It's the only place in town so I guess they can get away with this until a new gym moves into town... which I HOPE is soon. I've been a member since this place opened up and I've never seen it in such bad shape. read more

Dirty, and smells funky. Tell you you can cancel at anytime, and when you try to cancel even during a crisis they tell you that they signed you up for a contract and refuse to cancel. Selfish/Rude manager if you say the least. $50 a month, don't waste your time, drive to a bigger and better gym with better management. read more

Was really hard to join because staff was never there during posted hours. Really dirty restrooms and not enough wipes for equipment. Tried to cancel after contract expired several times but was impossible because staff was never there and they make you cancel in person. Left work early several times because staffed hours ended at 5, but again no one there to help me. Refused to help me over phone. Finally managed to get my wife there on my behalf when someone was there but they still kept charging me despite saying my account was canceled.. had to call fraud dept at bank to block them from my account. This location has only been opened for 3 days as I write this review, however, they have totally lived up to the great expectations I had for them. The equipment is all brand new and state of the art. The FITNESS ANYTIME is awesome, I got to do a beginning spin class by myself throught virtual trainer today and it was challenging and fun. Jessica has been great to deal with and has answered any and all questions that I have had quickly. I used to go to Lifetime Fitness and I loved walking into that gym every day but I had to cancel my membership there, due to location. I'm so glad that I've found a gym that gives me that feeling again, and for 1/2 the monthly cost. Thanks for coming to Elgin, Anytime! read more

I agree 100% with vindaloo. The owner, Mason, is EXTREMELY unprofessional. He was all nice and responsive when i was signing up, but once that contract was signed he could care less about returning phone calls or handling issues with his customers Heres my story. I knew i would be moving away from elgin in the near future. We had signed the contract under the terms that when i moved, if there was not a gym nearby, he would wave the cancellation fee and things would be wiped clean That IS NOT what happened. I literally moved the very next week due to a job offering in houston. I called him later that week to cancel my membership, seeing that the closest anytime fitness was a 30 minute drive away. After Mason learned of this he dodged my phone calls left and right like a kid, not a professional business owner. About three weeks after i moved i called once again to resolve this issue, still no answer, so i used my friends phone.....and guess what?? he answered!!! Now I'm having collection agencies calling my phone to collect money. Money that should NOT have been charged seeing as i was only able to work out there for ONE WEEK. Don't get me wrong, the equipment is nice, but don't ever trust that man and keep in mind that these places are franchises. There is no corporate office for complaints, or discrepancies with your account, so if things go south like they did with me, you'll have to deal with him and as you can now see, thats like hitting your head on a brick wall over and over again read more

I was trying to give it zero stars but that's not an option. O where to begin well lets start with Mason the little man who "runs" the place hes a poster child for little man syndrome and loves to let the women know hes in charge however he wont speak to the men when there's an issues ( just general questions or discrepancies) I've called multiple times and left voice mails which hes never returned however he is quick to confront my wife. I can never get him to answer the phone or seem to find him when I'm at the gym. The "trainers" are simply a joke honestly I'm not even trying to be rude or funny but come on guys your horrible at your job they have no idea whats going on. The fact that they are clueless is not even the tip of that iceberg they are gross. NO ONE at this place ever cleans machines when you do you typically get bad looks. I have watched "trainers" take clients around from machine to machine and the clients nor the "trainers" clean the machines. The bathroom is always gross the floor mats are always wet and smell like hell the trash is always over full and typically toilet paper on the floor, the toilets need cleaned badly, the machines are typically broke the TV's on the machines don't work the shower heads are broke and fall down if they are even in service... They are rude about memberships and try to push things on you that you don't want or cant afford Mason will do everything he can behind your back spying on you again not man enough to confront you like a manager or adult should. They charge an ludicrous amount to tan holly smokes don't even get me started there... Moral of the story the place is nasty the people are rude it looks like an amazing place don't be fooled I was and will never be again. read more

This has done nothing but go further downhill since I wrote this review. This location seems to be well aware of the fact that it's the only game in town. I will be looking into my contract further to see if I can cancel it as this place is just gross, but I know they won't let me AND they won't fix any of these problems. I set my phone on the ground and picked it up to find dirt all over it. Got on an elliptical the other day and I stuck to it. It smells terrible in here, like a sewage leak or something? The mirror in the studio has the same handprints it has had for all these months with new ones added. This gym is never, ever, ever staffed. I go during business hours and never see someone here, so I can't complain in person. Don't bother with one of the empty replies you've given the other negative feedback. Just fix it. Close for a through cleaning and repair. Replace the elliptical that are rusty, the worn down treadmills and the ratty threadbare yoga mats. Clean all the caked dust from corners and ledges. Fix the locks in the bathroom. All of this for starters. read more

If you are thinking of getting a membership with the Anytime Fitness in Elgin, TX, then make sure to get ALL information in writing. The promises they make are so ridiculous and they are not honoring what they told me! Me and daughter #2 got a membership with them. We were told I could add my daughter #1 to our account as long as we had the same address (on our driver's license). And that the rate would be cheaper than our rate to add her to this account. She returned home from college and lives with us. So she went up there to be added to the our membership. Now they are saying she has to open her own account at a higher rate! And that there were issues with the person that was there when we got our membership and she has since been fired. You would think they would honor our agreement. Unreal and shame on you for being misleading. If I do not get the response I am expecting, then I will be sending a complaint to the BBB. read more
