Evan (On site Electrician) - Super friendly, kept me informed as he performed troubleshooting, provided advice for how best to proceed to repair, and super quick. Evan identified the cut line (probably done by aeration), spliced in a new line, and made a surgical trench, no grass damage, to run the line. Everything was repaired, all landscaping lights are now working, and all faster than I had expected, which saved on the hourly cost. Again, super work Evan!

I needed to troubleshoot why the water pump in a fountain kept tripping the GFCI. I called Clinton…read moreElectric, who sent out an electrician, who spent about an hour diagnosing the problem. He suggested that I improve the hose connection to prevent water leakage. After I did so, the problem remained. I called back the electrician, who said that evidently the problem was in the pump itself and that it should be replaced. The electrician was friendly and courteous. I understood that they needed to charge an inspection fee, but what seemed excessive and unfair was the categorization of diagnostic levels that raised the cost of the service call beyond what I considered a reasonable expense for the type of repair needed. For this reason, I cannot recommend this company. It would have been better to work with a company that charges an hourly rate. I will never use this company again - the fees they charge for the service rendered, despite their politeness and friendliness, are simply too costly. The determination that a pump servicing a fountain needed to be replaced cost me $500 plus their inspection fee. Outrageous!

Seriously, where else can you get that kind of service these days? In addition to walking me through the fix and identifying potential causes, they recommended parts to prevent future issues and sent me links to where I could get them; all under 20 min! (There was an extra 5 min to answer my question about GFI plugs). TL;DR - Superb customer service from an helpful and knowledgeable business. Then I was quoted a job that was assessed at greater than my houses square footage with a job that was not at all what we discussed. I understand being careful and thorough, but I felt like I went to a Toyota dealership and was only quoted Maserati prices. Inquired regarding modifications to the quote and the answer I was given was "this is why my boss told me to tell you". I called another company who is a master electrician and is doing the job they quoted me 12k for 3k. Their estimate was about 20 percent less than the first we got, and the third (Kite and Key) literally never called back with an estimate. They did an excellent job, especially considering that I explained everything I wanted to be done by phone or email. Our walls are plaster, and the area above the fireplace is plaster over brick. They were still able to work cleanly, and only made 3 very small 2-3" access holes total from fishing the wire for the outlets, and all the wall plates lined up flush with the wall. They were in and out in half a day. I would say to make sure you know what you want - they suggested wire mold twice in an abundance of caution about the access holes, which ended up being fine. Luckily my wife and site supervisor knew what we wanted for sure.
