The remodel replaced the floor with vinyl tile, replaced the tub surround tiles with vinyl sheets and replaced the vanity, counter mirror, tub, lights and all fixtures. The finished bathroom looks great with no issues. The fixtures, vanity and surfaces chosen by the Lux design crew look great. The installer did a great job, was very courteous and did the job with minimal disruption.

Before, my husband and I were in transition going from 2 separate homes to 1, and life was messy and unmanageable...and our home reflected that. We had double or triple of things which were randomly placed. It was so overwhelming that it was a huge source of stress and most likely put a strain on our relationship. What happened? We hired Sherri not knowing how brilliant she was. Her personality is warm,compassionate, and totally non-judgemental. This is so important because messiness can come with shame. She was so supportive in OUR vision of our home, and taught us the skills, tools, and systems needed to organize. I also want to note she genuinely wanted to get to know us as a whole person, not just getting things organized. This is way overdue, but clearly a hint into why I needed to have someone like Christy come into my…read morelife! Christy was more than a de-clutter expert, she's therapy! I can give you every reason / excuse as to why I hadn't been able to get my act together, but you already know. Christy was able to approach my situation in a way that was caring and fun. She wasn't just trying to help me "get rid" of stuff, but really had me look into why I felt the need to have X in the first place. We'd talk it through, come up with a solution, and act on it. Super cathartic. She'd give me realistic "homework" to do until next time, and of course, I'd make excuse why it wasn't done. No judgement! I looked forward to seeing her each time. Here's the thing. Would my life be better if she lived in my home and did it for me? Sure! And she can " just do it" for the client. But for me, her methods have bled over into every aspect of my life. She "taught" me how to take these methods into work, into a way of thinking when approaching just about everything. And time flies when you are with her. Her personality and optimism is contagious! And she can shift focus at a moment's notice. Don't want to tackle de-cluttering closet today? Really need assistance in digital filing ( organizing that crazy computer, bills, etc)? I had a great experience working with Custom Closet to help built out a new custom closet a master…read morebedroom at my townhouse in Seattle that was recently damaged from a ceiling leaking due to home construction damage (the damage wasn't caused by them and it was not their fault!). Initially, there was a mix up in terms of my job request to them to build our a closet, but when the issue/problem happened, The Custom Closet Company owned up to it and really showed that they genuinely wanted to help my resolve my issues. All on-call contacts and e-mail communications I had with them were professional and they were prompt in providing honest answers regarding situation/timeframe of when the job could happen. What I liked was that the company was quite dependable. Once they understood the scope of work, you got the design, choices to pick/opportunities to provide feedback and select the options like colors/additional add-ons, and things generally flowed quite well. Unlike my experiences dealing with other contractors, they were pretty dependable and you could count on them holding up to their promises in terms of price estimates, timeframe of when the job could happen, and the duration of the job. Given how professional their company was from pretty much my interaction with all the individuals there (General manager, office lady who picks up the call and designer), I would definitely use them again when the next opportunities to remodel/custom make cabinets/closet/workspace at my townhome in Seattle in the future.

We wish we had chosen a different architect. Initially, H2D seemed competent and pleasant during…read morethe first part of our home remodel. However, our overall experience with them was unsatisfactory. Admittedly, our remodel was problematic and revealed challenges we hadn't anticipated. However, common oversights and miscalculations by H2D resulted in generated revenue for H2D and added expense and time to our remodel. At the beginning of the project, H2D called for a meeting so we could discuss key design aspects of a particular room. The plans that H2D created after that meeting failed to reflect the very specific design choices we had made. Additionally, H2D miscalculated a key structural measurement that cost us time and money with our contractors (and it was a mistake that we, with no architectural background, were able to clearly see). H2D also provided plans with handwritten notes that we and 2 contractors could not clearly read. We asked the architect to make the notes legible, which was our expectation from the onset. She made them legible, but charged us an additional $1,200 for the changes. After receiving the invoice and us questioning the charge, the architect stated that she "did not work for free." We asked her to consider reducing the charge by half. She agreed to a 16% reduction. The next invoice we were charged hourly every time a contractor called about our project. H2D managed to recuperate that 16% discount (and then some) by fielding our contractor's questions. Our last dealings with H2D were when we discovered they had provided the wrong plans to a contractor without key revisions. At this point, all parties involved decided it would be better to deal with our structural engineer and bypass H2D entirely. A relationship with an architect is a critical component to a remodel. We had hoped that our architect would take responsibility for poor work and provide helpful customer service (other significant examples lacking in these areas are not included in this review). The continual errors made by H2D, combined with navigating the architects' temperament, made for a sour experience that aggravated an already stressful experience of a home remodel.

In early 2021, I found myself moving from a 1 bedroom condo to 4 bedroom newly constructed home…read more Needless to say, the place was empty and the furniture that I did have was a poor fit with the design and style of my new house. I found Gwenn on an internet search. I interviewed a few other designers but hired Gwen after her receiving her detailed follow-up email from the initial visit. In that email she clearly articulated a vision for how my house should be furnished and accessorized. I was sold: "Based on what I gathered from you and your home, I imagine the design of your space would fall somewhere in the realm of warm contemporary, comfy, understated but a touch swanky, masculine, PNW natural / rustic. Neutral and subdued colors, varied natural textures, layered and homey, soulful. Furnished with timeless and quality elements that could work in future homes too." Gwen has executed on the vision perfectly all the while taking my feedback and taste into consideration. Gwen selected furniture, carpets, lighting, art, plants, and décor for my office, living room, bonus room, master bedroom, kitchen, outdoor patio, and hallways. She helped me accessorize my kitchen with all new cookware, knives, silverware, gadgets, etc. Saying that Gwen selected all of these items does not do justice to her work. The pieces selected were of the highest quality. Quality observable to the eye and to the touch. Most the pieces selected are themselves a work of art that give me joy just to look at daily. Some of the pieces were custom made to be the perfect fit for the space. Gwen found the craftspeople and helped design these custom pieces. Gwen was a consummate professional throughout the entire process. She did all the coordination of ordering and deliveries. Gwen found electricians to install the lighting and spent all day here making sure that a custom light fixture was installed. Her punctuality is something that I must comment on because when she told me that she would be at my house at a certain time I could set my watch to her arrival. I sincerely appreciated this punctuality because I believe it speaks volumes to how she cares about her clients and her craft. All of this work and sourcing was during COVID shutdowns when lead times on furniture exploded which made the project more difficult. All of the accounting and billing was online and easily accessible. In summary, Gwen designed the spaces in my home in a way that bring a smile to my face ever day. She did all of the work and minimized the amount of effort needed by me. I couldn't be happier with the result.

Not worth it! The resulting design package has several errors which cost us more to remake/modify…read morethe cabinets and trim in order to make the cabinetry, which was based on Randy's technical design package, work. We hired Randy based on the recommendation by the cabinet maker and based on his working relationship with the cabinet maker thinking it would be a seamless venture for our full kitchen, laundry/mud room, and 2 bathrooms. We were wrong. Randy has good insight and conceptional design, but as they say: 'the devil is in the details' and his measurements were off in a several of key areas. Notably, of the cabinets for the 'appliance garage' was a full 4-inches too short and had to be remade. The sink cabinet wasn't correct for the farm style sink (even though specs were provided) and had to be modified on site and doors reordered, two other cabinets were off by 1 inch in width and required modification by the installer and replacement doors ordered. The end panels for all cabinets were specified on the bill of materials/cut list as too short and did not extend down far enough to cover the valances for the under-cabinet lighting and had to be remade. Also, one of the big requests we had was to center the kitchen sink under the kitchen window (seems logical), but alas, Randy's calculations put it off center which wasn't caught until the cabinets were being installed. Randy touted a complete design package that "you can take to any cabinet shop" but that was far from the experience. The cabinet shop had to remake several items as did our installer. The end result looks good but only because our installer was amazing at being able to modify and remake the pieces that didn't fit--which in turn cost us MUCH more in both time and money in the long run.
