As I entered, I was greeted by the receptionist, filled out a brief form and in minutes was seated in a doctor's office. A nurse took my vitals and an examination followed by Doctor Samuel/Margaret. She was able to explain the course of action necessary to reduce the pain and swelling and prescribe medication within minutes of my visit.The professional service rendered by the doctor is a true credit to the Emergency Room at Sun City Center, an extension of Manatee Memorial Hospital. The facility, equipment and personnel that staff this facility are of the highest caliber. We arrived at approximately 9 p.m., and from the moment we pulled up in front of the ER, we felt welcomed and cared for. Tiffany, a pharmacy technician, greeted us with a wheelchair. She was kind, compassionate, and efficient as she helped my husband out of the car. While I parked our car, she stayed with my husband and assisted him with the check-in process and escorted us to his room. The triage and nursing staff were prompt, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. His nurse, Steven, explained every step of the process, which helped calm my husband's nerves and made him feel safe and comfortable in his care. Steven listened carefully to my husband's concerns and took the time to listen to me as well. Although the emergency room was busy, the entire staff worked seamlessly together to ensure my husband was comfortable and well cared for. Everyone treated us with kindness and professionalism, and we truly appreciated the teamwork and compassion shown throughout the visit. Even the discharge process was smooth and straightforward, with clear instructions provided to both my husband and me. I have ongoing concerns about communication and informed consent during my labor and delivery, particularly regarding Pitocin (oxytocin). My recollection is that I was told my IV was "just fluids," and I do not recall being informed that Pitocin was being administered. Since then, I have repeatedly requested a copy of the consent documentation the hospital says covered this medication, along with the hospital's Pitocin policy in effect at the time. As of this review, I have not received the signed consent form I requested or the policy. I have contacted the hospital and pursued the appropriate complaint channels, but I still have unanswered questions about the documentation and communication surrounding my care. This experience has had a lasting personal impact on me, including anxiety surrounding future pregnancy and childbirth. I would prefer to resolve my concerns directly and amicably, and I hope the hospital will provide a clear written response and the documentation I have requested. I am sharing my experience because communication, transparency, and helping patients understand their care are deeply important to me. UPDATE PLEASE READ Update: Since posting this review, I made further attempts to clarify why BayCare has not provided the signed general consent form it says covered Pitocin or the hospital's relevant policy from September 2021. I specifically asked David, the Patient Relations Manager, to clarify whether these documents were unavailable or whether BayCare was declining to provide them. David ultimately informed me that BayCare's review was closed, no further review was planned, and there was no additional information, records, or documentation to provide. When I sought further clarification about my outstanding requests, I was told there would be no further response. My concern remains that BayCare says Pitocin was covered by general consent, yet I have not been provided with the signed consent form I requested. I cannot determine whether additional documentation exists internally; I can only speak to what I have received. He may seem a bit young, but believe me he is tied in my estimation as one of the best doctors I have ever seen. Not just an outstanding Nephrologist, but also an outstanding diagnostician who is very knowledgable in all aspects of the human body. He is personable and caring, and truly goes above and beyond. I could not recommend him more highly. The front office staff and physician assistants are very friendly and knowledgable as well. For those requiring dialysis, the facility is extra convenient, as a Davita dialysis facility is now open in the same building.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR INSURANCE AT AFC URGENT CARE IN RIVERVIEW…read more I presented my BCBS insurance, which is my PRIMARY insurance and has a $25 urgent-care copay. AFC then found my Aetna coverage and told me that Aetna was my SECONDARY insurance--but said their system required them to use the secondary insurance instead. The result? A $100 copay instead of $25. I questioned this several times. I asked why I couldn't use my primary BCBS coverage. Same answer: their system wouldn't allow it. I even asked them to remove Aetna so they could process my BCBS, and I was told they couldn't because doing so would be "fraud." Here's the problem: that's backwards. Coordination of Benefits generally requires the primary insurance to be billed first, followed by the secondary insurance. Aetna's own provider guidance says exactly that: bill the primary insurer first, review the primary EOB, then bill the secondary insurer. I understand computer systems have limitations. What I don't accept is being told I must pay $100 instead of my $25 primary-insurance copay because their system insists on using my SECONDARY insurance, and then having the word "fraud" thrown into the conversation when I question it. Patients with multiple insurance plans: check exactly which insurance AFC is billing before you pay. Needles today I left to another urgent care where my insurance was billed correctly. I will never step foot at AFC Urgent Care again.
