I needed a TB test for my job, specifically a quantiferon, which is done via a blood draw. Now I don't have the best veins, but that didn't stop other phlebotomists from a successful stick, except the one today. I didn't get her name but it was essentially the same poor customer service I've received since I moved here 2 years ago. I'm originally from NY and I cringe when people say that NYers are rude. The people here in ABQ are probably not rude, since you have to have manners to start with and then jettison them. These people here are Neanderthals. You can see it everywhere--the workers in Wal-Mart who are in your way all the time, the customers who are too lazy to put their carts back, the drivers who don't signal when they drive. But I digress...the gal today told me it would be a wait since I showed up 45 mins. early. No problem. I sat down and was writing my honeydo list when she called out "That'll be $203." I said, "I guess you're talking to me." I paid her, she handed me the receipt without a thank you. ZERO customer service skills, and you would think I'd be used to it by now, but I'm not. Since the previous appt. still hadn't showed, she took me back for my test. It took her 4 times to finally get a flash of blood. No word of apology. No levity. No personality. She said curtly, "The results will be back in 2-3 days." Not a thank you from her but to her credit the manager thanked me on the way out. Let me give you and every other worker in ABQ a little tip: the customer pays your paycheck and keeps your business afloat! You don't wait for the customer to thank you, you thank the customer for their business!
