I also explained to my stylist that I'm currently recovering from major surgery and was only four days post-op, which is why I came in for the service since I'm unable to wash my hair myself right now. My stylist was very sweet, but the service itself felt rough during the wash and blow-dry. When the blowout was finished, I was honestly shocked at how underwhelming the result was. There was barely any curl, very little volume, and my hair was frizzy and poofy rather than smooth and polished. It looked nothing like the style I requested or what I've received at Drybar in the past. Because I was already feeling lightheaded and exhausted from surgery recovery, I didn't have the energy to address it in the salon and decided to just go home. However, I called the salon shortly after leaving to explain the situation. Unfortunately, the conversation with the manager, Bailey, made the experience even worse. She immediately came across as defensive and cold rather than empathetic. She told me she would call me back before the end of the day, but I never received a call. During the conversation she questioned why I hadn't said something while I was still there so another stylist could fix it, which felt dismissive given the circumstances I had already explained. I understand that things don't always go perfectly with services, but the way concerns are handled makes all the difference. The lack of empathy and follow-through left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed enough that I will not be returning.

I showed a reference photo and confirmed ahead of time that I was booking the correct service. The ponytail was frizzy and not styled how I asked. The stylist mainly sprayed a lot of hairspray, brushed it back, and said I was done. When I asked for curls in the pony, I was told it was extra, which was frustrating since I had called beforehand to confirm the service. A few curls were added, but only part of the pony was curled and it wasn't set or sprayed. Overall, it did not look polished or photo-ready, and I left feeling really disappointed, especially since this was for such an important moment. In addition to handling the day-to-day responsibilities of a busy yoga studio in her past, this rock star of a person also has been doing hair for years. To call her a Hair Stylist, Stylist or Color & Hair Extension Expert is an understatement, she's been taking care of tresses & updos for a long time, since high-school actually. I trust her with my locks on a monthly basis. Scheduling with her is very easy and she always leaves me feeling like a movie star or a million bucks (same thing really.) Prior to creating Prim Salon with her business partner Megan, she worked at Panache' Salon near Seventh Street and Missouri. This beautiful pair began searching for the right place to launch a small salon for just the two of them. They looked into Office Buildings, Strip Plazas and even considered buying a small house in the Biltmore or Roosevelt areas. Many months later, they spotted the new Salon Studios that were created in the Moda Fina Jewelry building near Camelback Rd. and 32nd Street. There is also a CoreBalance business upstairs that offers Yoga, Spin, & Barre classes. The Salon Studios opened in May and have about 9 or 10 suites/units that offer Hair Services, Waxing, Facials, Sugaring, Eyelash Extensions, Chemical Peels and I believe that one of the Aestheticians offers Eyebrow Threading. There may even be a suite or two open at this time, stop in and check the place out. Better yet, look up "Salon Studios on Camelback" on google or facebook for more information. Prim Salon is one of the largest suites at the recently opened Salon Studios. Prim offers 2 chairs, a wash station and it feels roomy and chic. The tone of the room is elegant and relaxing with broad white and silver strips on the walls and 2 huge mirrors with intricately carved white frames. There are also broad hallways with comfy chairs to wait for your partner or your appointment. Kate has been going to Brittany for about 3 years now and truly appreciates Brittany's calm approach to almost any issue. She's had extensions, highlights, cuts and blowouts and continues to look amazing each & every time that she leaves Prim Salon. Parking is a breeze here. I pull in and occasionally score with covered parking, otherwise keep driving and there are additional spaces on the East side of the building near the back entrance.

But I had a terrible experience and left very upset. I made it clear to my hairdresser that I have been slowing working on lightening my hair for almost a year now. It is long so it is taking a while. I told her I had no desire to do darker because it shows my grays more. I even told her the number color I wanted to use. She kept walking around- back and forth with color swatches. Then she asked the owner what color he thought. I said darker so it was all one color (not knowing I have been working on lightening it). She asked me again- what was my goal. I said I don't want black hair. It will make my grays stand out. I walked out with black hair. Hopefully if you go here, you get someone who listens to you. I do have wavy curls that go in different directions, which is why I wanted someone with more experience. They made an appointment for a cut right after the consult. The four photos are 1) what I wanted, 2) the pre-cut side, 3) pre-cut front, and 4) the "master" cut. Complaints: She split her time between 4 clients at once, so was always leaving in the middle of cutting and seemingly forgetting what she had started, even WITH the photo I had. With the staccato stop and starts, it took longer than necessary. She charged me a whopping $125 for a cut that is not that difficult!!! It was a shock when I got to the register, but she was already gone to her multitude of simultaneous clients. I also bought a $16 travel size bottle of dryspun texture spray she recommended as I will be traveling for 3 weeks. The problem? The tip I added for the cut was also applied to the spray bottle, but I did not know until I got the emailed receipt as they would not give me a printed receipt!!! Frankly, I looked better going into the salon than leaving. The total damage was over $168!!!! There was no coloring, no extensions, and no great "master" cut! Although everyone was quite friendly, I will not be returning. It was robbery to charge that amount for the cut and service I got. The best part of the experience was her assistant who washed my hair.
