I had Antworks out after being told by my regular quarterly pest service that the big ants I was seeing on my home were not carpenter ants. Antworks confirmed that they are, in fact, carpenter ants and upon thorough inspection found carpenter bees as well. I really liked dealing with this company! Everybody was very nice and commutative. We had a ton of ants running around and Antworks assured they could solve our problem. The Tech showed and was in and out, very pleasant and efficient. After first visit we were without ants for a few weeks. Then they were back but not in the numbers they were before. We called Antworks back and they sent someone out again, and again we were without ants for weeks until we weren't. So this just kept happening until they said they weren't sure if they could keep servicing our house without charge. I asked about their guarantee and they said it expired. Antworks does good work - they were the first to actually fix the problem we've had. However, their customer service has been consistently atrocious for the 2+ years we've worked with them. Some time ago they went through a phase where I had to call every day for three weeks before actually getting someone to call me back (keep in mind I was a current, paying customer at the time). They also kept trying to get us to double pay an invoice, insisting that we still owed them. Eventually we had to provide them with bank statements showing the check clearing our account in order to get them to stop harassing us. Every time a problem came up, we were given an explanation and told the problem was resolved. It wasn't. The last straw was being given one price over the phone, and then being told in a long email that we would actually have to pay more. We stuck with them due to their claims of being the only ones in the Portland area who use the same chemical they do, and thus the only ones who can effectively help us. After verifying that multiple other companies in the area use the same product (and at a lower cost), we can finally ditch them. It is clear that Antworks does not value their customers, so we're going to find someone who does. read more

We were unable to get rid of the ants at our house; caulking and ants traps weren't working, so I headed over here to yelp where I found this business listing. I called and left a message asking for a return call, which came within thirty minutes or so from Chris. I explained our problem and talked to him for quite awhile. We've never had to call a pest control company before so really wanted to be sure before I committed myself to something I'd later regret. I had been impressed by All About Ants' website, and was further impressed with the way Chris answered my questions. He was thorough, friendly, and obviously well informed. So I decided to hire him. He went to the house the very next day, and oh my gosh, I was glad I'd called All About Ants. Chris found several nests of ants, and the problem was so severe that the varmints were even going up into our trees and shrubbery! He said that's very unusual, but why should I do things in a normal fashion, right? Why not go to worst case scenario from the very beginning! Chris said he doesn't usually see infestations of sugar ants this bad, but he sprayed over and under and around and inside and outside and wherever else he needed to using non-toxic to pets and people spray. Then (as I said, why should we do things the easy way?) he saw a carpenter ant. No biggie, right? Except that then he saw another one. And another. I discovered ants had taken over my kitchen and outside my house last week and was super freaked out because well....ants are annoying!!!! I decided to call "All About Ants" to see if they could help me with my problem. I called and left a message on their voicemail and got a call back within 10 minutes from an employee named Chris. He was very informed about the removal of ants and said he would be out as soon as possible to help me get rid of the ants. The appointment was at 4 pm and Chris showed up at 4 pm on the dot and I showed him the problem areas of my home. He knew what type of ants were attacking and how to deal with them. He had great insight to what our problem was and explained everything clearly. We were able to schedule a service the very next day. I thought I had a bedbug problem and researched it frantically, finding facts and finding ways to protect myself. I was so happy I found Antworks when we couldn't get rid of sugar ants in our outbuilding a couple months ago. Not only was Mitch polite and efficient, he also made me aware of some other pests - carpenter ants! He provided some advice for addressing the issue, as well as other services to consider, but did not push any additional treatments at that time. I really appreciated that! Within about a day after the treatment, the sugar ants were gone almost immediately, but then I became distraught over what felt like a possible infestation of the carpenter ants. Mitch warned that they may also be affected by the perimeter treatment, so we waited it out. Sure enough after about a week, and following the simple suggestions Mitch gave, they abated. We opted to have the perimeter of our house treated a few months ago, and have seen the ants slow to a trickle. Normally by this time of year we would be overrun and placing Terro ant traps all over to try to control it. So nice to be free from that. Christina was super helpful on the phone, setting up my appointment (and being cool when I complained about not getting a call back - my vmail was not set up!). I have to admit that this is the first time I've ever had to use exterminators, but as a first time home owner, I couldn't be happier to have found such a great company. I called Antworks in December and had someone out the week after I called. He was extremely nice, courteous, and explained what he would be doing and how to prevent ants from then on. He suggested a subscription (which my husband and I are considering) but I didn't think of his suggestion as "scare tactics" as someone had mentioned above. As for the ants, they had been gone for the most part, but in January we saw a few sneaking around so I emailed again and they sent someone out immediately, free of charge. As far as I'm concerned, I really don't think I've encountered customer service as good as this before. Any interaction with them has been extremely pleasant and simple. I started seeing ants in my house and on the outside of my house, off and on sometime in April. I tried the online solutions and store bought stuff, but they did not work. Found - All About Ants - online and the reviews from Yelp. Called them and talked to Chris who is very educated about ants.......I know he was being truthful because I saw the same information online. He told me I had carpenter ants and we scheduled an appointment on June 19th---he was on time, if fact a few minutes early. Chris sprayed all around the foundation, and up on the T1-11 siding where it overlaps as they were crawling under that area. Also, he sprayed where the TV cable line is hooked to the 'roof trim' part of the house as the ants were crawling across the cable line and on to the house. Chris said if any ants appeared at three weeks (July 10th) he would come out to spray that specfic area. There were still ants (not as many) on the siding and the TV cable area,(it does take some time to get rid of them all). I called Chris today, July 10th, and he said he would come out today to spray that area again. The ants should be gone in a couple weeks and to let him know otherwise. I signed up for the Tri-Annual service, as I think an ongoing treatment in my case is necessary.............I would recommend 'All About Ants'. read more

So apparently we got the first carpenter ants of the season. They didn't look like typical ants--larger, black, and in the bathroom of all places. We set out Raid traps but the nasty little buggers just mockingly walked right passed them. A quick search online explained that hiring a professional was the best way to get rid of them before they destroyed the wood beams in our house. It is important to me that whatever chemicals used will be as non-carcinogenic/non-toxic to humans as possible. An internet search for the preferred "safe" ant poison of choice is Termidor. The MSDS sheet for Termidor showed that it is not considered to be a carcinogen. With that knowledge in mind, I started to look for ant control people. All About Ants came up in my Portland search with one 5-star review. Normally, I only use vendors with multiple 5-star reviews but the first vendor I called was unable to accommodate my schedule. I called All about Ants next and spoke the Chris, who was really informative and nice. He asked me questions about what the ants looked like, where they were found, and was able to get out here the following day. Chris also charged $30 less than the other ant guy and included a 1 year guarantee for carpenter ants. He arrived promptly, was friendly, knowledgable, tidy, and worked very quickly. I highly recommend him for all your ant exterminating needs! For $269, I got the kitchen and bathroom baseboards, cabinets treated. This includes drilling a small hole inside the walls. The exterior foundation wall, perimeter, doors and windows, deck, trees, and crawlspace was treated as well. read more
