He thoroughly reviewed their service of spraying for my pesky ants and monitoring the bait box for the dreaded rat burrowing outside my home. Long overdue rating but I'll tell you that when it comes to ants, these guys are the best! We were overrun by our neighborhood ant population the beginning of COVID and tiring of singular traps, I called in the pros. At this time I do not recall the exterminators name but he showed up donning full protective gear and a battle plan. Within the hour he had completely and meticulously traced the inner and outer perimeter of our home with a magical concoction that, within 48 hours, eradicated all signs of these pests. Rob was our initial service technician when we first moved here and desperately needed pest control having ants everywhere. He was fabulous. On top of the issue, explained everything clearly and kind and professional. For the first 6 months our service was great with scheduling and follow up. The next 3 months we had some issues with the technician. The final three months we scheduled our service early because we had wasps outside, and having kids, that's an issue. When I scheduled the service we set a timeframe for the morning, until noon. That afternoon the tech called at 2:50 saying he was on his way. I wasn't pleased, so I called the office and told them that I had made an appointment and now we didn't get proper service because he didn't show up when he was supposed to. I filled out their email survey stating that I was unhappy and the reasons why and they simply said it was a scheduling mixup. For whatever reason I got another survey and said that they just failed to provide great service in the second half of the year after Rob was no longer handling the business and that was it. I said that if they didn't step up I was considering going to a new company. They didn't even bother to renew the contract. Obviously something changed in the business, or at the least, in the office, and they just don't care that much about the customer anymore. Too bad because I dig supporting small local businesses. The above review was from 3/24/18, today is 8/30/18: We had switched technicians 3 times and now have the same tech come out each time. When I spoke to the office about my Yelp review they were eager to fix the problems, and Rob reached out to me to see what they could do to keep my business. THAT to me shows that a company cares. They have been consistent and great to work with and I haven't had any issues since March. I had to call a few days ago to ask them to come out prior to my quarterly service because I had a massive amount of ants in the kitchen suddenly, so they will be out to service today. Unfortunately, there isn't a single ant to be found in my kitchen now lol. Oh well, I would honestly rather have no ants than have them right?! I believe whole heartedly in supporting LOCAL and family run businesses. I wouldn't trust the door to door sales companies as we got totally ripped off by them last summer. I highly recommend Halt. Everyone I've talked to has been courteous and knowledgeable. The techs are always on time and if they might be late they call to let me know (I'm fine with it, I'd like them to spend the amount of time needed in my house, so if they need to do that with the house before mine I understand.) They give me tips on pruning my landscaping to avoid certain pests coming in and alternative options if I want to avoid poisons (like I did in our nursery.) They even came out before our next scheduled appointment because the spider situation got out of control. So I had a bed bug prevention treatment in my apartment scheduled. They said to be out of the house between 9am and 1:00 p.m. so I waited to make sure they can get in and I can ask what poison is being sprayed or bombed or what exactly is being done. To put it briefly, the employee arrived almost at noon, making it about an hour before we would've walked into an unsettled poison. But the worst is this, the employee was visibly upset that I was even talking to him, I picked up on the vibe he was giving off and just asked him if my pets are OK or if I needed to put anything up and he loses it saying word for word, "ok im just f*****g telling them you refused the f*****g treatment" and I say, " are you seriously talking to me like this in my home?" And he goes, "yes f**k you b***h" and slams the door. This was dehumanizing, I feel worthless as if im nothing and anyone can just come to my own house and treat me like I'm a piece of crap.. now I'm writing this because today, that same employee was outside of my home.... he drove off when I walked outside.... I have PTSD from alot of violence and bad things when I was really young and I am going to be moving now because of this. This company told me they took care of the employee and to stop contacting them (I was only emailing, I called just once the day of the incident). I DID NOT PROVOKE THIS! This can happen to any single one of you too it seems, and if you have a disability like PTSD I would not risk this company at all. Where to start? They told me I was paying for a one time service and then put me on a quarterly contract without my knowledge. They never talked to me, nor billed me until three quarters had passed and they had "De-cobwebbed" my house twice for 85$ a pop. When I finally recielved a bill I contacted them, and the lady demanded I pay for 3 quarters when the 3rd quarter hadnt started yet. I cancelled. The Pest control guy showed up a month later anyway and "de-cobwebbed" my door for another 85$ Worst company ever. Will be suing read more

Very disappointed in their service. Employee checked around the outside of the house and sealed any obvious holes where rats could enter the crawl space. Unfortunately, he didn't notice one foundation vent had been cut overly-large by the plumber, which resulted in a gap between the gas pipe and the vent screen large enough for a rat to enter the crawl space. After our 90-day contract guaranty had expired, it was only a few months before we began to hear scratching noises in the walls. If their employee had been more thorough, we would not now be paying for another pest control company to come out and resolve the problem. read more

I am SO impressed with everyone at Halt. We're in the process of selling our house and during the inspection, the inspector tried to look in our crawlspace and couldn't because it was filled with bees! The inspection (and sale) were put on hold until we dealt with the problem. I was FRANTIC. I called Halt at 12:30 and by 2:30 Steve was at my house to save the day! Both Steve and the woman I talked with on the phone (Delaney?) were kind and professional and went out of their way to help. Steve was very thorough in explaining what he'd be doing and the fact that they guarantee their work really put my mind at ease. Nancy is so helpful in the office and the people who show up are professional and knowledgeable. I was lucky enough to have Halt referred to me and I couldn't be any happier! I had the biggest yellow jacket hive and they made a special trip the day I called to come and remove it!! Lisa on the phone was amazing, Eric the exterminator was right on time when he said he was coming over and he took care of the hive! The hive was big and the wasps were aggressive, but he did it! Love these guys !!! We had carpenter ants and we were using a different service, but they sucked. It seemed like we had more ants in our house after we used the other guy's. I was desperate, so I looked in the yellow pages and found Halt. Called them and they set up an immediate appt. The technician was wonderful, and we now have them come out for quarterly exterior treatments. This all occurred several years ago and we are still using them today. Since we started treatments with Halt, we have not seen anymore carpenter ants - These guy's rock !!! read more

Thank you, Halt! Two days after an influx of carpenter ants made an unwelcome appearance in our living room, we looked to Yelp for assistance and called Halt. A real person picked up the phone after hours, scheduling a call back for the next morning. We contracted with Halt Pest Control two years ago. They service all of our rental properties and vacation homes. They contact me quarterly to schedule service, which is fantastic since I don't have to remember to call them! The technicians are very friendly, dressed in company attire driving company vehicles, and always use the little booties inside our homes. They have always been prompt and professional on site, and very responsive to any issues at any of our properties. All three times, they came FAST and solved the problems (rats due to sewer repairs in 2013, ants during wet weather in 2014 and 2016) immediately and completely. I am currently staying at a grimy hotel for the time being while my house gets fumigated, and while I am sitting here it this bad motel, I see ANOTHER cockroach!! I am tired of these stupid things! They are all like "Hey john lets be friends!" And I am like NO little roach, BE GONE! I talk with the front desk and complain and they said "whatever bye Felicia", so I say screw this and I call This Halt pest control place and they come out very fast! They come in and start shooting up the place with their bada** pest guns that go "PEW PEW!" and they start a world war 3 in my hotel room! And they kill all those little creepy crawlers (they barely made it out alive!) and make my room safe once again from all those little pests! Now I can sleep for the remainder of my 2 hour visit since my house is finally done. read more

Charged $200 and didn't do much. Their actions and explanations seem sketchy. The hard push for a maintenance contract should be the first signal that they don't do a good job. When he was here, he only put gel bait in a few spots (and not much). Spot on! We've been using Halt Pest Control for several years, with their all-season service. We've not had any issues since and they provide great, thorough and courteous service. When they come they give everything a thorough look and ask if we've got any other needs - from time to time will ask them to look here and there and no problems. Also, we've got two dogs and they're very thoughtful about that, letting us know they've been spraying so we can keep the dogs inside until things soak in and dry. I use consumer reviews extensively when hiring for work to be done at my residence. If I have a minor negative experience, I will refrain from writing a negative review because I understand that I could damage the reputation of a business. We hired Halt in February because we were horrified to find evidence of rats in our attic. We were complete novices at hiring a pest control company and foolishly signed a service contract at the technician's first visit. He was extremely polite and set some bait in the attic and at two locations outside the house. When he arrived for the second appointment he dodged our questions about a plan to prevent rats from reentering our attic. He told us that he thought that we would have to excavate under our front porch and install a product that is currently being used to halt rat burrowing in NYC. He said that he'd gather some information and get back to us in a week. We never heard from him again. After researching the problem on our own, we decided that he was ill informed and decided to call another company. The trouble started in ernest when we phoned Halt to talk about this. The receptionist had been abrupt when I had made the initial appointment but I just assumed that she was having a busy day. She became rude and combative and informed us that we would not be allowed to break our contract. We explained that the only reason that we wanted to terminate our agreement was that the technician seemed overwhelmed by our problem. Even though we made a point of stating that his manner was pleasant and that we had no complaints with his behavior, she kept insisting that we did not like this man. Finally, she agreed to send us a long time technician that she referred to as the "Rat Nazi". The second technician arrived and was also very polite. He quickly assessed the problem, put fresh bait in the outside boxes, and used a special spray under the porch. His efforts were 100% effective. I just got off the phone after trying to schedule a routine follow up appointment that is covered in our contract. We asked that the second technician be scheduled to service our account. She became heated and said that he was not assigned to our area and she refused to take him out of his assigned area just because we did not like the technician who originally took the call. Once again, I was put in the position of assuring her that we liked the first technician, but his personality was not the point. He obviously felt out of his depth with our problem and we wanted to see the technician who had cleared things up. She adamantly refused to send him and continued to criticize me for disliking the first technician. It would have been funny if I hadn't been so frustrated. Finally I agreed to see a third technician. I was told that I was the first person in 17 years who has ever filed a complaint against the first technician. For heaven's sake! We LOVE the first technician!!! I regret that my family is complete and I will not have the opportunity to name a child after him. This woman is kooky. Stay away. read more
