Recently refurbished with a revised menu, the quality of the food is absolutely superb. Traditionally the restaurant served the sort of Indian food you would expect to see on most Indian restaurant menus. Now, however, there is a little more emphasis on contemporary Indian cuisine without being as poncy as somewhere like Anokka in Salisbury. They have also started doing a buffet recently which is great value at £7.95. It is not serve yourself, but you can keep ordering from the set menu if you wish. I have eaten here for many years on many occasions; birthdays, anniversaries, work social do's and never have I witnessed a disappointed person. The portions are generous and they are quite happy to doggy bag your food if you can't eat it all. The service is usually excellent but can suffer slightly when they're extremely busy which is to be expected. Mr Ali the proprieter takes huge pride in the quality of the food. My particular favourite is garlic chicken which is an abolutely stunningly tasty dish. It is also doubles in keeping people away from you for a day or two! Do not expect poncy food with the waiters dressed in ceremonial garb. Expect lovingly prepared Indian food served using fine quality ingredients. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

I don't like black bean sauce and have never tasted it any in the dozens of times I have ordered this dish before. Unlike the usual delicate thin cut meats the meat was crudely/chunky pieces which made them tough, all except the same mushy pre digested chicken as in the chow mein dish. Deep fried mustard chicken was mostly tiny scrappy little pieces, much smaller than usual. These dishes were all old favourites which I have had over and over again. I complained and was told that they are the same as usual from the same chef. Told that the Happy Family is always like that with black beans. It was the worst meal that I have ever had from them. Offered 10% off my next order as compensation for a pretty revolting meal that was mostly wasted. Wow!
