Yikes! We had high expectations due to the high rating and delicious looking pictures online…read more Unfortunately, the food we received (which was VERY expensive, by the way, and prices for most items were not on the menu) was subpar. We ordered the al pastor tacos with rice and beans, chicken tacos, asada tacos, and asada torta. The good stuff: service was friendly, the wait wasn't too long, and the portions were good (the torta was GIANT). The atmosphere outside would probably be nice at night (they have outdoor seating, tables, lights). The torta was the best thing we ordered, it was good! Unfortunately, all the meat we got was dry and unseasoned. In the torta it was masked by all the other ingredients, but all of the tacos are more simple, so the unseasoned meat couldn't be covered up. The pork on the al pastor was so dry and flavorless I couldn't force myself to take more than a couple bites. The rice and beans also tasted unseasoned and flavorless which was very disappointing. All of this wouldn't have been so disappointing if it wasn't extremely expensive (we are visiting from DC and even street tacos there are cheaper!). We were expecting high quality for a meal that was almost $70 total (9 tacos with one side of rice and beans, one torta, and a soda).

Best tacos in Lynchburg!! The burrito and quesadillas are very very good too but the best part is…read morethe staff. They are so nice and welcoming. We look forward to getting this place every week.

I'm going to try to make this short. My boyfriend and I met in college. When I first came to…read moreLynchburg he took me to "the best restaurant in town," La Carreta. Being Mexican myself and being raised in Northern Virginia (cultural hub) I was heavily disappointed. No shame in Mexican food chains but he said "the best." I was expecting authentic. In our almost three years of dating every time I visit I try to find an authentic Hispanic food restaurant in Lynchburg. Because we don't have many in our college town and it's nice to discover what all the small city of Lynchburg holds. This story is already getting long... I stumbled upon this gem on yelp while visiting him. He was at work and I asked his roommate if he ever had pupusas (Salvadorian dish) and the roommate said no but he was down to try it. Later that afternoon we made a point to go to this restaurant and pick up some pupusas. This is authentic Salvadorian food. I guarantee it will satisfy your South American food needs. If you've never tried Salvadorian food I encourage you to expand your palate. It is a little hole in the wall, but definitely worth it. I was surprised at how many country folks were there! They know what's good. P.S Try the rice. It's one of my favorites, I personally like it just as much as Mexican red rice. Also, there are three kinds of pupusas. I recommend the mixed pupusa (mesclada).

I've found some good food on low-rent spots at the edge of many towns, but this one was pushing my…read morelimits. Between the people hacking away weeds with machetes outside in the crowded parking lot and the indoor space that had no AC and industrial strength fans blowing just to keep people from melting in the summer, and the takeout container they seemed to have burned some holes in, it was on the sketchy side. The food I took was a vegetarian platter. A corn tamale was tasty, but I kind of wished I'd just gotten pupusas and hopefully been able to get some variety. It's a cuisine worth trying, and there is another similarly named outlet in the area so perhaps I might see if that one is in better shape.
