I don't usually drink coffee, but needed an afternoon pick-me-up and the iced coffee with cream blew me away. Divine. The barista took her time, carefully preparing the grinds, brewing and mixing. I hate their pricing system (I never know how much something costs till I get to register and that price is always shockingly high). I hate that they don't have a consistent menu. Antoinette's is, by far, the cutest little bakery in town. From their cake displays to the macarons to their beautiful exterior, and the best part - anyone wandering by is sure to find something they'll enjoy from here. I am a big fan of their macarons, which is what I get from here about 90% of the time. The other times I'll try their cookies or cupcakes, but the macarons are always solid. I recently had their pies, and I didn't even know I liked pies until I had theirs! My friend and I shared a slice of coconut cream pie and a slice of the mile high chocolate, and both were a dream. Aside from actual food, they have a wide assortment of baked goods. Surprisingly, there wasn't an overwhelming smell when you walked in the bakery (a good thing imo!) I hate leaving places smelling like the food for the rest of the day. I ordered the El Cortado and a ham and cheese croissant while my sister had the macarons. Nothing really noteworthy about the croissant. It was very flaky (a good thing), but was also kind of salty (bad). I had better croissants elsewhere so I would skip out on this. The El Cortado was good, but I'm not a huge coffee snob so take my word with a grain of salt. For macarons, my sister got the miso, pistachio, and the earl grey. She liked the miso one, but I thought it tasted like soy sauce. Definitely an interesting flavor to try as I haven't seen a lot of bakeries offer miso flavored macarons. However there were only 3 slices of cake available compared to at least 9 different advertised on social media. The case was barely full with bakery items. The we got the birthday cake and it was super dry. The cake was nice and heavy but that's about it. There is nothing special about this place. The cookies are also extremely dry as well. I came here for brunch on a Friday. The staff was really nice and accommodating. The pastries look great, but I ordered the vegan hash and I think I ordered very poorly. It wasn't very good. It was all kinda mushy and the white sauce on top made all the more mushy. It mainly tasted like oil and garlic. I wouldn't recommend this dish to anyone. I've had many things from here breads, cookies, sandwiches, croissants but never breakfast today I was in a rush and wanted Starbucks sausage egg and cheese but SB was all closed. I then remembered Antoinette had breakfast! I came on a Friday as I worked in 36 N ! I ordered a brunch sandwich swapped the bacon for sausage and the challah for English muffin. I didn't see it until I sat back down in my meeting room next door but I opened it and it was hot and amazing !!!! Ordered a pie for Thanksgiving. Had a special deal for the pie, which made it a good price, and this would be my first experience here. Showed up at the shop at the appointed time and the line was wrapped around the corner...fulfilling orders and social distancing, but the line moved continuously and smoothly. We got our pie and picked up a Guinness stout brownie on the way out. Service was friendly, and shop was bright and clean. The brownie was more like fudge than brownie..and incredibly rich. Had a sliver and consumed an entire glass of milk - it was delicious and priced fairly at ~$4 with tax. As for the pie, it was a classic pecan, normally priced at $28. It was good, but not blow off my socks this is the best pie ever good. I had a deal, and at the discounted price, it was well worth it, but at $28, it would have been overpriced. I used to love this place, but I'm not sure what's happened in the last couple years to make their service slip so far, which is disappointing because I truly love that it is a locally owned and operated bakery. Now I'm on the fence. It's definitely a hit or miss. Sometimes you'll receive great service, sometimes it will be sub-par. I guess it all really depends on who is working. The bakery items are pricey, as is their made-to-order food. Love the cinnamon rolls here! They are my favorite ones in Tulsa. Sausage rolls are great too. Everything else is just alright for me. Their selection is always different though, so it's fun to try. I had my first poutine from here a long time back. These days I think they have a set brunch menu for the weekends unless there's a holiday. Upon landing we took an Uber straight there (nowhere near where we were staying), knowing we would arrive shortly before their advertised closing at 6 pm (which we re-confirmed on Google before calling the Uber). The door was locked but there was an employee at the counter so we knocked. She was clearly annoyed and came to the door to say that they had "closed early because she was working alone" (it was 5:53). I tried to explain that we had come out of our way from the airport and the posted hours clearly said 6 pm. She cut me off and closed the door in my face. No "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience", much less an opportunity to actually purchase anything. They are truly inventive, and have some incredibly tasty treats. The pies are original and indulgent, if you don't mind the Pie Night crowds. The scones (both sweet and savory) are not to be missed. If there is biscotti to be had, by all means have. And finally: the brunch! That cheesy polenta is downright dreamy. I even went so far as to recreate the magic in my own kitchen, but have yet to come close to anything as creamy and cheesy as Antoinette's. I walked by this place several times because my hotel was nearby, and I thought it was very cute so I decided to buy some coffee and treats for the road before heading home. I purchased a cruller, which was very good for a cruller (honestly not a huge cruller person, but this one looked really good). The latte I ordered was good. I've had some great coffee, and this tasted like the other good coffee I've had. Now, what is a showstopper and why you should come here are the macarons. They are fantastic. I like macarons quite a lot and have eaten ones from Trader Joe's to top Parisian patisseries, and these are on point. They are perfect moist and chewy in the middle, the flavors are amazing (some unique options and not overly sweet), and they are beautiful. Let's face it, we eat with our eyes, and I especially think looks matter for macarons. What was particularly great (to me) is I'm a fan of flavors that usually end up being in the beige/brown family (almond, chocolate, caramel, coffee, etc.), and I always feel jealous of the people who like fruit flavored macarons because those are gorgeous. Here, though, they make sure we all get beautiful treats even if we don't like fruit flavored macarons (I love fruit, but I tend to like it fresh, what can I say?). A disclaimer, I have loved Antoinette's in the past. The pies and cookies were wonderful- I ADORED the cinnamon rolls, and I loved supporting a place with so many vegan options. That being said, I won't be back. I ordered a custom cake this past Friday. When we picked it up, I was told it "might be a good idea to refrigerate the leftovers." That's it. We cut the cake the next day, and found mold in between the bottom two layers. I didn't catch it in time to stop one friend from eating it, but the rest of us threw our pieces away. I tried calling the store, twice. During business hours. No answer. So I emailed. I attached pictures, explained the issue, and asked for a refund. The next day, I got a somewhat condescending email back explaining that nothing was wrong with my cake, and it was discoloration from the jam, and that she hoped I kept the cake so I could enjoy it that day. I HAD kept the cake, and it was more obvious that day that it was mold. It stunk, and the friend who ate a piece was sick, in and out of the bathroom all day.( still is, in fact.) I checked with some friends, and a few who are professional bakers, one of which asked around her networking groups, and after seeing it again in person, advised me not to eat it, as it was mold. ) I replied, explaining that it wasn't discoloration, it was green, and it was mold. And also said the thought of it made me sick to my stomach, and I wouldn't be eating this cake, and no one else could either, and reiterated I wanted my money back. I got a very passive aggressive reply from Emilie back, saying she was so sad I said the cake "sickened me" and even though there was nothing wrong with the cake, they would refund me $25 of the $45 I spent. My biggest problem here is how flippantly this is being handled. There was a problem. It was mold. Someone is physically ill because of it, and they're stating nothing is wrong with the cake, and encouraging me to eat it. I got my partial refund, as promised. But this is no way to run a business, and I will never support Antoinette's again. You don't mess with someone's health like this, just because "we bake our cakes fresh, so I assure you there can't possibly be mold." Irresponsible. I hate to think how many people could be getting sick out of situations like this. Pictures attached of both the cake, and the awful customer service I received. I'll be taking my patronage elsewhere. Staff at Kupcakz is extraordinarily helpful every time I've talked with them, and they offer vegan cakes and cupcakes as well. I loved Antoinnette's when I was visiting in Tulsa but it has been a complete disaster trying to contact them for a cake and a gift certificate. I have left messages both with voice and written. I bought a gift certificate that was supposed to be delivered immediately. It's been nine hours and I'm still waiting! If I hear from them, I'll write another review.
