This library is on the smaller side but nice nonetheless. I have come here a few times and they seem to have a large selection of kids books. It can get loud afterschool but security does a good job stepping in if it gets to be too much. Staff are kind and flexible with kids too which is so nice to see. I've been coming here ever since I was a child and the librarians are so sweet and generous and always willing to help you even when you don't need it. They gave me a generous gift for first time parents and I loved it. This is my favorite place to be despite it being open for a few hours. I hope they extend the hours because we have three neighboring schools around and Kids need this. Anyway all of the staff here deserve a raise! Thank you guys! read more

It's a terrible 'Make Shift' Library, and it's only open part time. It's old, tiny and made of concrete. It's basically a third world type of library. The City/County/City does not prioritize diverting much money into this location. The County does however dump much more revenue into most of the other county run libraries in wealthy areas like Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, Danville and San Ramon. Those libraries are open 7 DAYS A WEEK! And have you seen the new beautiful and expansive Brentwood Library?. How is it that we have over 120k residents, but can't even get a decent library?. Just pitiful. Also, if you happen to come in and see this guy, well you're screwed because he hogs several newspapers at a time. read more

For starters, I looove public libraries. They're little havens of socialism dotting the american landscape. That said, the Antioch library could really use some help, It's old and out-of-date. What is really required is an entirely new building. I understand that when the Feds were giving out all that money to cities to build new libraries a few years back, Antioch missed the boat due to an inexperienced city manager that couldn't manage to have someone competent fill out the paperwork for the funds. So Antioch gets screwed once again. What are ya' gonna' do? So, the good. I was at the library recently when I noticed that the legs on the chairs were oddly shaped. Turns out, if you lean back they rock. Pretty cool. So my mom pulls out a chair and starts staring at the chair legs, probably thinking it's broken or something. Just then the librarian walks by, and seeing my mom's confusion says "They rock. The chairs rock" Then a pause "This library rocks!" To which I responded by throwing the goat. Because I'm in complete agreement. The Antioch library might suck, but it still Rocks! read more

This place gets two stars for friendly staff and the ability to get books transferred from other libraries. Other than that this place sucks. The selection consists mostly of romance/western novels. Its disgusting that the third largest city in the East Bay has a library that it smaller than most of its houses. read more

I love libraries. simple and plan. Sure this isn't the most prestigious library in the world, but nonetheless, it demands the respect that it deserve. I took both my niece and nephew there, and I was surprised to see more titles for kids than anything else. not to put a political perspective on a yelp review, but the state could use a bit more money on renovating libraries like this one Vs. spending on ... (well, you get the point). Awesome please for your little ones, and hopefully reading would one day be considered a daily activities for all americans. read more

I'll state up front that I'm not a fan of the Antioch library. Starting at the parking lot, this place is just awkward. The parking lot is old and in dire need of some repair and there's not nearly enough parking when they have a popular event going on. The building is larger than either the Oakley or Brentwood locations but it is also quite old and shows it. It has that old library feel and smell -- old enough to be dingy and musty without the benefit of having character like an older institution. On the upside, their kid's section is good and my toddler loves the little table they've got set up. I like the fact that the Antioch library has a lot of kid's programs but the times I've gone, I've found them very crowded. It is good that these programs are in demand but it makes it very difficult to go browsing for books afterward. Plus, I would avoid going here with small children in the afternoon because more often than not, is filled with kids from the nearby high school and junior high who seem to have no manners or common sense when it comes to libraries. The noise level is high, the kids are rowdy and take up the entirety of the library. I won't let my daughter roam and would very much rather get out as quickly as possible than stay and read. Honestly, I find that is very much the location vs. the age of the kids. I take my daughter to another local library that is on a high school campus and have not had the same problems with the high schoolers there as I do in Antioch. I have to agree that the adult section is pretty lacking. It is far more effective to put a book on hold and pick it up here than it is to browse and hope that they have what you need. The staff is also quite nice; I've never had any problems with them. read more

I love my hometown library. Yes, it is in a ghetto location and it doesn't have much of a variety, but it serves its purpose for me. It is convenient since it is on my way home from work. I usually do my searching online and place books on hold. The books arrive within a couple of days for the most part. I don't need to hang out at the library so this place works just fine for me. The staff is always friendly and does mind stopping what they are doing to help you out. read more

Excellent resource for books, etc. It is a smaller location; however, it has been around since the 1950s or 60s, so it is expected since Antioch's population was much smaller than now. It would be helpful to check online before you go into the library to make sure the item you need is in. I order all my materials on the website and they will deliver it free of charge to the Antioch library for pickup. Great resource for myself, a part-time teacher,because I can find tons of books to illustrate my lessons, etc....them and I love the self-check outs and the staff is very nice. It is a bit small, as I mentioned, but definitely a place I try to frequent once a week. Been going here since 1998. Free WiFi as well, although there is a lack of spaces to plug in your laptop... read more

I love taking my son here. I realized it's a great way to take advantage of free books. My 2 year old loves to read and be read to so instead of spending hundreds of dollars on books we come to the library and check out books :) My son loves Dr. Seuss books so we always look for those and check em all out. The workers have been nice. Nothing that stands out. They just sit there and wait for someone to come and help. I had lost my card so I paid $1.00 for a replacement which is A-OK with me. Im giving 5 stars because I got a family four pack of tickets free tickets for both the Oakland A's and for the SF Giants. Sure their computers could use an update on both the operating system and the actual desktop it self but thankfully they at least have them. I know we live in what is probably the tech capitol of America but in the deep east bay where life is just a tad bit slower and more reasonably priced the newer things will just have to wait. I came to the library became I wanted to print 50 pages and I did just that. But, before I could use the computer I had to get a new library card because they expire every few years and I haven't gone to a library in god knows how long. So I told her my library card number that I had memorized from years ago and she seemed impressed. I would spend out to 4 hours at the library at least twice a week when I first relocate back to California. I saw they had tickets available to the A's game for free and just the day before I came here I was telling someone that it would have been a great day for a baseball game that was a Sunday afternoon. Well I came here on a fluke on a Monday to simply print a handbook and bam!!! An opportunity presented itself, free tickets for anyone with 4 different dates available. I felt like the universe was responding to me, I'd literally begun to feel larger than life. Like how could this be happening just 26 hours after I mentioned them they manifested. So I also entered a raffle which I almost never do because I've never in my life have won. I received an email 2 or close to 3weeks after I entered and it stated that I'd won 4 tickets to the giants game of my choice, again having 4 different days to choose from. So I will be seeing the Padres on 8/30/19 if anyone reading this wants to find me. We went to the A's and had a blast this past Wednesday. I'm ever so thankful and it not only made my day to win, it made my week too. It subconsciously made me feel like I could win anything, including the lottery lol. read more

Probably one of the worst libraries I've ever been to. They have such a horrible selection of books. I feel like more than 50% of the selection is kids books, which really is great... if you have kids. Right now, I don't. I want to check out some normal adult books and they literally had none of the 18 books on my reading list. The only good thing about it is that it's in the Contra Costa Library system and you get get books sent over from other libraries. read more

I love books, my kids love books, and I live in Antioch, so this is the spot to go. We hit up the library almost every Saturday. You can get almost any book you can think of with a combination of their available ebooks and how easy it is to have books sent from other libraries throughout California. Most requests are filled within a week or two. The librarians are always helpful, and if you need a recommendation, they're happy to give you one. read more

I love my library! The building is 50 years old, but the volunteers and staff of the Antioch Library are working hard to provide access to the most current information resources. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The organization in the library is top notch. There are separate modular sections for various activities: children, teens, audiobooks, magazines, computers, etc. It is small by San Francisco standards, but they do have a good interlibrary loan system. read more
